Our party of three each opted for the 4-course tasting menu that came highly recommended. For the first course, a roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and a tuna crudo. Both were good, but we only received the two small plates for the three of us. Next came hand rolled ricotta cavatelli with a lovely mushroom sauce, and a cow au vin. Again, both were good, the mushroom cavatelli ended up being my favorite dish of the night, and I would have loved more. I looked over at the party of two sat next to us and they were receiving the same two plates, which seemed odd given we were paying for three tasting menus I thought, not two. After a brief wait out came the desserts to our surprise. This time three plates, one for each of us. The crème brûlée, profiterole, and chocolate tart were all tasty.Overall we were served 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 3 desserts. That's 3 courses out of the 4 we were supposed to receive. The tasting menu posted online on their website confirms that we were supposed to receive a 3rd course of fish and braised short ribs before dessert. I also can't help but feel cheated at seeing the party of two next to us receiving the same two plates for each course despite us being a party of three and paying for three tasting menus. The bill came came out pricey with three $72 tasting menus, of which we seem to have received 7 of the 12 courses. While I have no complaints about the quality of the food we were served, it is impossible for me to recommend this restaurant to anyone due to the food we weren't served.

An absolute jewel of French style cooking, topped with exquisite service and wrapped in a charmingly decorated space. The tasting menu hits most of their best dishes, but the menu has many standouts. Coq au vin, duck cassoulet, outstanding fish, a ridiculously rich burger, regional and seasonal influences, great wines... a true standout in Santa Barbara.

I’m working towards becoming a “regular” customer here. I’ve been several times this fall… sometimes solo or sometimes with friends. I’ve done the amazing valued early prix fixe, the decadent full tasting menu and also just ordered a La Carte. The food is truly great quality and I think very fairly priced. Sit at the bar with bartender extraordinaire Jess, who has great recommendations on food and wine and always makes me right feel at home!

Wow. Heard it was good but exceeded our expectations. The food was so great we would rate it one of the top five meals we've eatenOur server, Asia, was spectacular; made sure we were doing well without constantly interrupting us, was helpful with suggestions, and just really fantastic. The host and all the rest of the staff were equally great. Thank you all for a wonderful anniversary experience ... We will treasure it.

This place is wonderful and lovely. We went twice in a long weekend because the food is that good. The staff is friendly (shout to bartender J) and very helpful. I would highly recommend if you like French food with strong California influences.

First time goers and my girlfriend and I had the best experience. Rueben, the owner, greeted us at our table immediately and gave us the run down of the menu with ease and eloquence. Each dish we ordered came out promptly and was delicious. I will be thinking of the boat catch of the day for a long time. The drinks were fabulous as well. Even though they do not sell liquor, they’ve curated drinks that meet the standard. Ambiance was lovely and the staff was so kind. Before we left, we planned our next visit back already. 10/10 experience!

Great meal with interesting cocktails. Service was super friendly. Bar tender was dynamite. Wasn't too loud but bustling. Nice open space.

I walked by the restaurant this evening and it immediately caught my attention. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by Jess, the bartender. The owner, Ruben (sp) also greeted me to ensure all was right. Nice choices of wine although I'm a Bourbon guy, lol. The chef did a great job with the Cassoulet. Jess, was the BEST!!! She was engaging and her service was impeccable. Jess told me about breakfasts/brunch in the AM, so I'll be back. Kudos to the owner Ruben for his imagination and his amazing staff.

We just ate at the Black Sheep and ordered the cauliflower soup which was spicy and salty and sent it back. Then we ordered the bruschetta and heirloom tomatoes which was very good and we ordered another one and they sent us tomatoes that were not ripe and we sent it back. The filet mignon was good, but the sauce was salty and the potatoes undercooked.I had eaten here before they moved, and it was amazing. They might have gotten a different chef.Anyway, the movie and the atmosphere was wonderful.

If you're going to come here, get the tasting menu. It's got everything you could want. Absolutely delicious. The presentation, the portions and the price are in line. You won't be disappointed. The flavor profile for every meal is out of this world. If I could give it ten stars I totally would. Heading back here for my friend's birthday next month. Can't wait!!

Jeez. What the hell was this? Lured by good reviews here, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a nice dinner on our last night in Santa Barbara. First of all, the service was terrible. The two glasses of wine took forever to arrive, midway through the meal, after multiple requests, and much confusion (they brought a glass of red, which we sent away, instead of Sauvignon blanc). Then, they tried to charge us for 3 glasses at the end. Secondly, we ordered the tasting menu, where a series of dishes are brought to the table, two by two, but only in one recipient per dish. So you're expected to either reach out and eat from the same dish in the middle, or swap the dishes back and forth. You could also scoop some on your individual plate, but that plate wasn't changed, so it got messy flavor-wise (halibut mixed with spare ribs sauce?) That would be OK for nachos or something, but for French food? Just no. It's bizarre and tacky. Objectively, the dishes were generally good (congratulations to the chef), but ruined by the presentation. It's not that hard to make 2 portions of a dish on 2 plates for 2 people. So, I would not recommend this place

Where can I start. First time visiting Santa Barbara, and my girlfriend and I had to come see what the buzz was about. The owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming. The ambiance, perfecto! The food was divine. Highly recommend!!!

Dined here for a ladies night and was super impressed the minute we walked in. The space is beautiful and the styling is spot on. We were welcomed warmly and had a lovely table by the window. We ordered several items to taste & share and each dish was thoughtful, unique and delicious. The dishes each had many layers of flavor without being over complicated or muddied together. They tasted fresh and new. Would definitely recommend Black Sheep Brassiere!!

The restaurant ambience was very nice. We were there early, so the early pre fix menu was available. We had the 3 course meal for $39 which we thought was a great deal. My son had the cauliflower soup, beef bourguignin and banana pudding. I had the salad, coc au vin and crème brûlée. Everything was fantastic. The service was excellent.

What a gem! We’re visiting from out-of-town, but I wish we lived closer! The atmosphere, the service, and the food were all beyond exceptional. Every staff member from hostess to assistants, waiter, etc, were amazing, and they went above and beyond! If you go, I absolutely insist that you order the “Tasting Menu: The chef’s taste is impeccable, and every bite is divine! You will not regret choosing The Black Sheep!
