Overall a good one night stay and no complains. Close to the beach and restaurants so the location is good!

This little gem was a pleasure to enjoy. Simple rooms, comfortable beds and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the courtyard pit . The Porto's guava and cheese pastries for breakfast were a delightful surprise. We would definitely stay here again.

Would give zero stars if I could. I booked through Hotel Tonight. Only option was a Queen which is all I needed but there was no info on the room or location of the room. I arrived and spoke to the worst front desk person I have ever encountered. He wouldn't even share his name but I overheard him saying it was Dan. I inquired as to whether I could get an interior room for safety. He said no sorry all booked. I then asked about an upstairs room and he refused that too. Said that I had only paid for a Queen and that he couldn't upgrade. It seemed clear he had no interest in helping me out. I checked out the room and felt very uncomfortable as it was on the street with open windows at street level. I walked back to the front and asked if I could speak to a manager. He refused saying Manager is not on site and that he would not share the Manager's contact info. He then said I will call him but he probably won't respond until tomorrow. Everything was difficult and contrary. He then left to go call the Manager at which point I went to call Hotel Tonight. Came back and said he would do a King for one night which made no sense for me as I had booked two. I told him I wanted to cancel and he said he would ask the Manager. He came back and said we will cancel but when I asked him how I would verify with Hotel Tonight he seemed bothered. He then said I have other things to do and started to leave. I was incredulous that any hotel would have him as a front desk person. Note the room was very bizarre with a sink outside the bathroom. No idea why there are good reviews as my whole experience was awful. Note at first glance location looks ok but as I was leaving noticed several homeless folks hanging outside. Would suggest avoiding this hotel at all costs.

I have been traveling a bit this week and this was my last stop and the best stop. Very cute Spanish bungalow style space. Loved the privacy. Very clean. Check in and check out was easy. The front desk staff very friendly, kind and helpful. The room came with a kitchenette and pots, pans, plates, utensils and a new sponge. It's like a little home away from home. Located across from the beach. Very quiet. The only draw back is parking maybe a challenge when you arrive as parking is limited and first come, first serve. There is parking on the street, read the signs as there are restrictions and permitted parking around which means you're not allowed to park there unless you live there with a permit. Once you find parking, my suggestion is eat local and walking around is not too bad just wear comfy shoes. There's lot to see, do and places to shop and eat. You can then comeback to the little oasis that awaits you at this inn. It's pet friendly with a pet fee/day. It's worth it. Can't wait to come back. Already planning my next stay here.Safety: Felt safe within the space and garden area. Streets also felt safe, but does get dark at night.

Amazing place just off the beach in Santa Barbara. We had 3 rooms for family attending a wedding. Inside is like an amazing private botanical garden. Rooms were great. Free light breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. Service was top notch.

This inn dates from 1925, but looks more like 1940’s bungalow. It was supposedly updated in 2006, but the room we stayed in looked like it was from the 1990’s. The pictures on the website are deceiving, it’s not as nice as the pictures make it look. There was a very dysfunctional kitchen, no counter space, an oven that didn’t work, and no kitchen drawers. The silverware was put in a cupboard on top of some dishes. We had to scrounge dish soap from the inn’s kitchen (which was as old as everything else) There was literally dishes for 2, some pots and pans and that was about it. No serving dishes of any kind, no bowls but cereal bowls. The whole place smelled like mold and mildew. We went out and got some Lysol to spray but it didn’t help much. There was a couch and chair that was so old and dirty I wouldn’t sit on it even covered with a sheet. The springs were shot. They should both go to the dump. Parking is limited.I don’t understand good reviews of this place.Positives are they take dogs, it’s close to the beach and pier, and the have breakfast in the morning. It’s small and quaint with a small courtyard and a fire pit. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It’s too bad this place is not kept up better. It would be lovely to keep the architectural details and update it to the 21st century. It could be so much better. My guess it would need about a million dollars to renovate to make it up to good standards. It would be worth it. I wish I could buy it, I would in a heartbeat. But alas I’m not a money rich person. ?

Always a must go when we are in SB. Went here last night for dinner, and as always, the food was amazing. Already excited for our next visit!

The staff is awesome! The young lady at the front desk provided excellent customer service. She was very personable and extremely helpful.I'd definitely stay there again...the only issue is the parking situation, there's not enough, and if you have a large vehicle, forget trying to use the parking structured spaces.

This place is awesome! And for the price - the amount of space, and fireplace we were able to enjoy - it was definitely was worth it. Our room came with a couch, desk, fireplace, 1 bedroom that had a little tv, as well as another big bed in the same room as the living room right next to a full kitchen - and 2 bathrooms. It was CLEAN, Great location - MINUTES within walking distance to Stearns Wharf where you can enjoy amazing seafood - lots of options but one spot we enjoy is the SB Shellfish Co.They offer COMPLIMENTARY red and white WINE with CHEESE next to the front desk. We checked in around 630p and we're able to enjoy some before they closed it at 7p. There's complimentary breakfast in the lobby that you can take back to your room on a tray. Some of options we got were yogurt, fresh fruit, yummy pastries, coffee, orange juice, and granola bars.

CDMI is our go-to place to stay whenever we are in Santa Barbara. We discovered it during 2020 and were itching to travel (don't worry, CDMI followed/follows social distancing and sanitation requirements perfectly). The reasons are many: you won't get better bang for your buck than tastefully renovated CDMI (the inn consists of completely renovated Spanish revival bungalows built in the 20s). So you get the best of both worlds: newly updated amenities, with just the right amount of preserved old world touches, including beautifully tiled fireplaces in some rooms, and original tiled bathtubs in most others. And of course, our favorite Dan at the front desk has always made each of our stays so special. He has always been stunningly helpful and promptly goes out of his way to help us with whatever we need. And he regales us with the most interesting stories during the wine and cheese happy hour (another rad complimentary perk, from 5-7pm). Continental breakfast is also complimentary, served every morning from 7-10am. The famous LA bakery Porto's even caters the breakfast - CDMI serves their famous cheese as well as cheese and guava pastries. This was honestly one of my favorite, unexpected touches. Fruit, cereal, coffee, and juice are also served. There's an ice machine, mini fridge, and microwave for every guest. Some rooms even feature fully stocked kitchens. The inn is dog-friendly! Very important factor for us when traveling. Dan and the other staff also always spoil our pup Ginger with doggy treats whenever she visits. Great location as well - it is literally across from the beach and pier, and easy walking distance from some of our favorite eateries in SB, including Biergarten, the SB Shellfish Company, On the Alley, and SB Fish Market. Also a decent walking distance or Uber from State Street. We've probably stayed at CDMI for almost a month total, over the span of four years, and have stayed in about 6 different rooms. Each room has their own charm, although my favorites are the courtyard rooms with the gorgeous fireplaces. They're always extremely accommodating and generous with early check-in and late check-out, which we really appreciate. Needless to say, we will be back again (and again), for as long as this place is around! Thanks again, Dan!

The rooms we had was spacious and extremely comfortable. They are pet friendly. The grounds and courtyard are beautiful and well maintained. We arrived late in the evening. Daniel had the fireplace in our room turned on for us. He also brought us wine and a cheese platter. We will definitely stay here again!

Stayed 2 nights. Close to pier and great eats. Just wished they eased up on the bleach ? . Appreciate the cleanliness but not the fumes. Hardworking and friendly housekeepers.

Zero stars for customer service I was super excited to visit Santa Barbara and stay at this adorable little spot close to the shore. My dad was visiting from NY and had never been to SB, so we planned a whole road trip up the coast to Big Sur, stopping in SB for the first night. Due to the mega storms and literal ROADS CLOSING, we had to cancel the whole thing last minute and stay in LA. I tried to rebook for a later date, I was told I was not allowed to rebook on a weekend as some kind of punishment for cancelling last minute I guess?! I understand last minute cancellation policies, although I strongly feel natural disasters should be taken in to account here. As most people do, I work Mon-Friday and do not have the option to take days off during the week to drive up to SB for no reason. On the second half of this trip in Big Sur, we also had to cancel an Airbnb and I was fully refunded. Someone's actual house in a location wayyy less visited took the money loss and understood the conditions. A fancy hotel in a destination hotspot had to keep my money. Confused to say the least. I was spoken to incredibly rudely by the hotel staff over the phone, given zero option to rebook, and charged full price anyway. You can have my hard earned money, my negative review, and be assured I will trash talk this place to anyone I know going up to SB.

travelled solo, no car. here are my thoughts. ✨pros |the room is a no frills, comfortable living space. felt soooo peaceful being right out front in the greenery.nice/friendly staff who let me check in early and check out late.they have non-vegan breakfast and wine and cheese there which is niceee for everyone except for me. ?(jealous)beautiful lush greenery(especially for photographers and content creators)nice walk within other popular non-vegan eateriessterns wharf is walkablecomfortable walkable to state streetcons |there are no front desk agents after 10pm-7am so if you are a woman who isn’t used to motel/inn environments, keep this in mind.there were two men on the outside of my door when i was coming from dinner. one looked like he was coming from the steps leading from my door. i was a little scared but ultimately was able to get in, unnoticed.neutral |wouldn’t highly recommend for solo woman travelers. but if you do, proceed with caution. ?
