A Purr-fect Experience at Kat Therapy in Santa BarbaraI recently had the opportunity to visit Kat Therapy in Santa Barbara, and I can't help but express my deep gratitude for this wonderful sanctuary. For those seeking a peaceful retreat filled with feline friends, this is the place to be. Kat Therapy isn't just a cat house; it's a haven for both humans and cats alike. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a serene atmosphere where cats roam freely, play, and nap as they please. The joy of interacting with these lovely creatures is immeasurable. It's a unique experience where you can sit and cuddle with a cat, play with a group of them, or simply observe their quirky behaviors—all while they enjoy a safe and loving environment. What's truly admirable about Kat Therapy is its mission. The cats here are adoptable, and the whole point of this establishment is to provide cat therapy while also finding forever homes for these adorable animals. The small fee for entry is a small price to pay for the happiness and relaxation you receive in return. Moreover, this fee goes directly towards the care of the cats, including their food and maintenance, ensuring that they can continue rescuing cats from shelters. The staff at Kat Therapy deserve a special mention for their dedication and the success they've achieved in the adoptions. Their passion for the welfare of these cats is evident in the way they maintain the space and care for the animals. It's clear that they are not just doing a job; they are fulfilling a calling to make a difference in the lives of both pets and people.During my visit, I was touched by the tranquility and therapeutic atmosphere that only the presence of cats can provide. It's a heartwarming experience to see cats who may have once been without a home now receiving love and attention, with the potential to join a loving family. In conclusion, Kat Therapy in Santa Barbara is more than just a cat cafe—it's a community service and a therapeutic getaway rolled into one. Whether you're a cat lover, looking for some stress relief, or considering adding a feline to your family, this place is a must-visit. You'll leave with a full heart, knowing that your patronage helps keep this beautiful cycle of rescue and adoption going. I wholeheartedly recommend Kat Therapy to anyone looking for a dose of joy and the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of these charming animals.

The kitties here are so cute and staff was really kind. Parking in the city lot is limited when busy and you’ll have to wait when someone exits to be forwarded in by the gate. 75 minutes free and after you’ll have to pay. Lots of great shops and walkable. Not an area made for cars.

Lots of kitties and meow meow, purrfect way to spend a date or unwind with friends. Pricier than a movie ticket tho, but the aristocrats and catpatilalists keep rent high so the kitties must pay to stay until you adopt them. 10/10

This place is amazing, have been here many times over the years and so glad that it has been able to stay open despite all the challenges with COVID, etc. Reserve the private party option and get all the kitties to yourselves for play time! The place is clean and the cats seem to love it there. Support the rescue mission and enjoy!

You don't really need to reserve here! Yelp checkin gives 20% off admission which is pretty huge. One hour for two people was $48 (60-12) using the yelp checkin. Was it worth it? Well if you like cats it could be. The admission fee is pretty high but it goes to a good cause, to help shelter these cats and get them adopted. Some cats are very playful and others are very scared/ sleepy. We came from 4-5 pm and cats started sleeping at around 4:45 so I don't recommend coming any later than 4 if you actually want to play with the cats. I felt one hour was pretty long, I was pretty tapped out after 30. Definitely a cool experience especially if you're a cat person.

Non profit hosts rescued cats for adoption. Very soothing space and quiet, will definitely return. One comment: would be good to offer cat socks to buy for those times I forget to bring my own (you have to remove your shoes to enter the Cat Zone but they do provide non-cat footies that are free). Totally worth it, I wished I could've stayed forever :)

What a grate place! I would highly recommend coming in for an hour to get your dose of Cat Therapy! Very therapeutic to sit with all the lovely cats and just chill. Staff is very knowledgeable about all the cats and the gift shop is cute! All the money goes to a grate cause to helping safe more cats from being euthanized. Oh and if you happen you find that special cat and you are able to adopt you can do so!

This place is SO fun to visit and such a great idea. Everytime we are in Santa Barbara we try to make a stop. I decided in early December I wanted to adopt from them to try and get a cat by Christmas for my husband. I had to email them 2 times and was told to reach out to ASAP cats to fill out an adoption application. I did, and never heard back. I had to call CT and ASAP 3 times each, and email both again just to get an approval. At this point it was after Christmas. I finally found time with my husband to go out and pick out a cat, we really bonded with two little kitties. When we asked if we could adopt the workers at cat therapy said no and that we needed approval through ASAP cats. I showed her we had gotten an email of approval but she said because it didn't state the specific cats we wanted we couldn't take them. She took down our info and promised she'd let us know when we got approval to get the kitties and be able to pick them up. Well, two weeks have passed and nothing. Today they posted on Instagram that the two kittens we were wanting have been adopted. I'm really disappointed in this shop as I really wanted to support and adopt through them. :( I'd suggest visiting this place but if you are looking to adopt I'd say look elsewhere.

I LOVE this place so much. My daughter is obsessed with animals. They have always been mindful of my daughter’s experience and make it very comfortable for her anytime we come here. I recommend this place to everyone I know that visits Santa Barbara

Good time sharing with the cats and kind, helpful staff. The black and white cat just snuggled with me the whole hour.

Loved the numerous kitties. Loved being able to hand feed them. Parking was a breeze. The staff was most cordial.

This is like a cat cafe without the cafe. You pay a certain amount based on how much time you want to spend with the felines. There were over 20 cats in this very smallish, intimate, cozy space during our visit so you won't be searching for cats to pet or play with. They have younger cats, and older cats, and sleepy cats, and crazy energetic ones. There will most certainly be at least one cat available to suit your preference. I am a big believe in the healing power of cats so cat "therapy" aligns with my philosophy. To be clear, cats help heal humans and we help heal cats. I believe all of the cats here are available for adoption so, if you can, please save one or more of these precious felines.
