Staff is very caring at Foothill Pet Hospital. I especially felt educated by one of the male techs and by a male office manager that works on Saturdays. My senior dog doesn't complain about anyone who has treated him!?

Had a great experience at Foothill Pet Hospital today! The staff were very helpful and patient with my pup, who was so nervous! It all went well and I paid less than at other pet hospitals. Highly recommend!

I so appreciate all of the staff here!! Today, I brought my dog in for a non anesthetic teeth cleaning. I was able to take advantage of a cancellation in the schedule and move our appointment up to an earlier time thanks to Sergio. Not only do her teeth look great, she was able to eat her normal meal after the procedure. Thank you Kim. So thankful to Dr Audra for having this service for our pets.

There is a reason this place is one of the cheapest in Santa Barbara. The doctor I saw did not preform any sort of exam on my dog, didn’t ask me any questions, and didn’t seem to have any knowledge about medications. I came in with concern for my dogs liver because ive had him on apoquel for so long. She said that she doesn’t know if it affects the liver (it does). I’ve spoken to other doctors and done my own research as I’m in vet tech school. She didn’t come up with any sort of plan or discuss other options with me. I practically just had to tell her what I think the best plan is and she had zero input. The vet tech that came in the room knew more about vet med than she did. Staff was nice I guess but I wouldn’t recommend taking your dog here if you need actual advice.

Wow. What a waste of time. I had scheduled an appt for my dog a week in advance and I get a call the day before to reschedule for Thursday instead of Wednesday, thankfully I was available and that worked. Then I told them already while making the appt that my dog was not friendly with other dogs and last time they were accommodating to that, but this time they did not plan for that at all so I had to wait 30 min outside for them to clear the dogs out of the waiting room. (Didn’t recognize any of the same staff from the time I went before)Once I get in, one of the vets BRINGS A DOG into the waiting room and lets the dog get nose to nose with my dog. Very unsafe and unprofessional. THEN they take me into a room and tell me the vet is on lunch so they wanted me to leave my dog and pick him up later when they just let another dog get into the same room with him, not gonna leave my dog somewhere that can't even secure a room for him safely. I told them no and she said we have to reschedule after I waited 30 min, had a dog come into the same room as my dog, and they already had rescheduled with me the day prior. never going back again.

Took my chameleon there and they were very gentle and sweet with him. Chameleons normally get darker when they're stressed and he had bright and vivid colors the whole time.

We took our7 year old lab there a week ago because he was not eating. The manager"finance guy" seemed intent on running as many tests as possible but they missed the diagnosis. The next day we noticed a large mass under his chin that was obviously missed and some swelling inside his mouth. We ended up taking him to an emergency clinic that reran the blood work because the results from Foothill were incomplete and correctly diagnosed him and treated him. I had a follow up discussion with the "finance guy" and he promised to follow up with me but never did!

I have experience working at a veterinarian hospital and can easily say this is one of the most exploitative hospitals I have ever brought my pet to. They will charge exorbitant amounts for services your pets do not need. For the last year of my pets life, I took it upon myself to provide at home palliative care, something that would have cost thousands of dollars if I had relied on these people to help. Luckily, I knew what they were offering and how completely unnecessary certain treatments were. 5 days before the passing of my pet, the doctor was "strongly recommending" I take her to a cardiologist to see if she qualified to then get thousands of dollars of dental work done. I laughed and he questioned why I found it funny, to which I responded, "Because she's dying!" Seems strange that a doctor isn't qualified to identify end stages of life. They weren't even able to see her for euthanasia, so I brought her to Goodland Pet Hospital (they were extremely kind and so wonderful) to be put down, I can easily say her suffering was exacerbated by frequent trips to Foothill Pet hospital for checkups at the doctors request. They used her prescriptions IV fluids as a bargaining tool for us to bring her in for X-rays or tests or holistic herbs that would cause her to avoid eating. I know this was long. Thank you for reading.

Beware !I brought my cat in for acupuncture to see if it would help increase his appetite. I was able to hold him calmly during the session. However I was not allowed to be with him for his exam and later with two technicians. It was during that time that my cat let out two horrific screams which I was told was due to a temperature check. When I brought my cat home he was limping, in pain and cried when I picked him up. At night he was trembling. Not only did the acupuncture not help but I had no prior knowledge of the cost of the other 7 treatments which seemed excessive. This was the most awful and traumatic experience resulting in having to go to another vet for pain medication. Please protect your pet from this clinic. They never bothered to reply to my call or email.

WARNING, AVOID THIS VET, not only did our dog sustained injuries in their care but they charged me for extra services I never approved. The most unprofessional, RIP OFF vet in town.

I started taking my dog to Foothill because they were the only local vet accepting new clients when I got her as a puppy in 2020 during COVID. I probably should have widened my search to Carpinteria or even Ventura - it would have been worth the drive.Poor communication means that even if details are mentioned the receptionist when making an appointment, then the same details are mentioned again to the tech when dropping off... The doctor will then call to ask for said details because they were never recorded or communicated. Frustrating. They insist that almost every visit requires a follow-up visit, charged at full price. I was once called and told that I missed my follow-up appointment, an appointment I never actually made. Sorry but I'm not going to take time off of work for you to charge me $$ to tell me that my dog's eye or ear infection has, in fact, gotten better. The experience here feels more like buying a car than receiving healthcare: they're all about the upsell. I brought my dog in with an eye infection and they tried to sell me probiotics (that they had already sold me at my previous appointment). They'll happily sell your information to advertisers as well. I got an email from Trupanion trying to sell me pet insurance that referenced my "recent visit to Foothill Pet Hospital" just hours after one appointment. Very disappointing.

Do not go to this sad excuse for a pet clinic. Horrible in every way. Rude. Doesn’t return calls, dirty office. Nothing professional about this operation. My sister’s dog was a patient here. More than once my sister and her dog had wait outside for an hour for a scheduled appt. Something is wrong with these people. Do not take your pet here… just turn around, face the opposite direction, and run don’t walk!!

Jax, our dog was in good care. But don’t try to have them call your insurance or your medication provider. Black hole. Just read your reply. It couldn’t match #blackhole better. If you truly wanted to improve, you’d reach out to me.

The staff is very caring and kind with pets and owners. They are efficient at communication with pharmacies, insurance companies, other vet clinics, and owners.
