I would give it a zero rating. I was traveling from Northern California with a friend who has a Gold's Gym membership. My friend got a travel pass and asked for a guest pass for me. We were told that the guest pass had to be issued at the location and that the price would be $30 for the 24-hour pass. When we arrived at the location, I was told that the pass was $40, not $30 and that it would be good for 24 hours. So the next day, I arrived at Gold's gym before the 24-hour period, and I was told that that pass no longer worked and that I had to purchase a new pass. The poor customer service, the condition of the gym, and the equipment are not worth the $40 for a day pass.

Worst experience ever, staff is very rude, this whole chain is terrible, and the locations are extremely limited, do not enroll.

Nice, professional, and helpful staff, nice space, large variety of equipment for all levels, skilled trainers, long business hours, good deal, easy sign up.

Great gym, easy sign up, easy cancel if/when needed. Multiple good locations within SB/Goleta.

Website says 7 day free trial with only stipulation being: "not valid if you have visited within the past 6 months".Upon driving through the so-called "catastrophic rains" of Feb 2024. Front desk says the trial is not valid to people that aren't residents of Santa Barbara. If that's the case, then add a disclaimer on your website saying that... Don't make people drive through the rain to find that out.Very poor experience. Will never ever use gold's gym and never recommend it to anyone who values honesty and transparency.

Staff here sucks and is super rude. Two male employees denied me when I tried to use 7 day free pass, saying I was just trying to get a free workout in and wasn’t interested in joining. After explaining I would be back in SB for good after 3 months at school, they said I could not join as I wouldn’t be here, even though I said I would join as soon as I was back if enjoyed my free trial. Would highly recommend joining Fitness19 instead, much cheaper, nicer employees, and they actually allow you to use the free trial:)

Hasn't changed much in 25 years. Good no-frills gym, pretty well equipped for cardio upstairs, and weight training downstairs.DB's go to 125 lbs.Bummer that they did not open on time 10/11/23. Many people waiting. Do better! It's 2023, intall remote door locks or something. Opening on time is most important for those of us there at 5:00 AM.10/11/23 10:00 a.m. update: management reached out to me to apologize for late opening, I accept. Added a star back for responsiveness.

Very disappointed in the staff. To summarize the situation: I walked in requesting a three day free trial, and Lauren persuaded me to "try the gym for 1 month for just 1 dollar." She guaranteed me that there would be no other fees or charges if I canceled within a month of signing the contract. A month later, I decide that I do not wish to continue my membership, but I was being charged a $60 fee even though I followed her exact instructions. After speaking with multiple people about my situation, all I received was, "I am sorry about your money loss, but there is nothing we can do about that. Why don't we give you another month for free to make it better?" I understand it's a business here, but I didn't expect to be lied and conned to. On top of that, the gym is crowded and not very clean; definitely not worth $60 a month. Would not recommend anybody to join this gym.

I had a very great experience with the staff there. I was visiting Santa Barbara for a wedding and needed a gym for while I was there since I’m competing in my first NPC show in 2 weeks. The staff was super accommodating, Tristan and Sergio were super generous and helpful to myself and my family who I brought in as well. Highly recommend just for how great the two were!

Absolutely awful sign up experience. The gym is nasty and not clean. The instructors are not teaching in a safe way. And worst of all, the sales and management staff are super rude and use a bait and switch tactic to get you to sign up. And if that's not bad enough, if you complain and the manager finds out who you are, she will tattle on you to your employer. CHILDISH.A word to.the wise: Find a gym that treats you nice..

NO PARKING, rude staff, old building and equipment. For starters, get ready to park 20 minutes away from where the gym actually is, and I wish I was exaggerating.Blond male staff with a comb over is an absolute tool with no empathy; pretty much told me to upgrade my membership or hit the road. They did absolutely nothing to create a value proposition of why I should upgrade my current gold’s membership to 3x the cost for less amenities and a building that smells like mold while getting attitude.Went over to the other location that is closer to Goleta and had a real Gold’s Gym experience with friendly, knowledge staff that gave me their time and made me want to upgrade my membership.

I visited this gym once as part of my hotel stay next door. I was asked to provide phone / email info to use the gym and opted out of any marketing communication. Since then, I have been bombarded with text messages several times during the week advertising this gym … with no option to opt out, stop the messages, etc. I called the gym and the staff members had no idea how to resolve the issue other than replying “Stop” to the message … which didn’t work. On top of all of this, the texts come from different numbers … which makes it impossible to stop these annoying messages. This business practice is unacceptable, unlawful, and quite frankly, unethical. Don’t give this gym your contact details.

Great experience with Gold's Gym on Carrillo in Santa Barbara. This club has made a major turn around with attention to detail and friendliness under new manager, Tristan. His pride and passion for the gym shows in little things, big things, cleanliness and staff attitude. In addition they have an outstanding personal trainer, Lambert. He is attentive to individual clients needs and is into simple but meaningful exercises. He has almost a Zen approach to developing his clients to achieve our goals. I am achieving my goals. Lambert is highly recommended!!
