Leadbetter Beach is a beautiful, long, soft sandy beach and part of the Santa Barbara waterfront. It is considered by many the #1 beach in Santa Barbara, featuring a beautiful park facility, excellent lifeguard stations, and easy access from public streets. The beach offers a peaceful atmosphere with a view of the beautiful blue sea, where visitors can watch dolphins and sea lions playing in the surf. Activities include swimming, surfing, kite boarding, foil boarding, and sailing. The adjacent bike path leads to and from the city center and hotel district. There is a maintained outdoor area with easy-to-find public toilets. Showers are available, though one reviewer noted their absence. The nearby Shoreline Cafe serves quick food with sheltered seating. Parking is subject to a fee, though a waterfront parking sticker allows for free parking. The area is good for a picnic and grilling, with a comfortable picnic area near the parking lot, though visitors should note there can be many mosquitoes or algae bugs. The beach is close to the yacht harbor and sailboat racing marina, contributing to its special ambiance.
Good place for a picnic. Part of the Santa Barbara waterfront. If you have the waterfront parking sticker, you can park for free here. The sticker is $140 a year I think which isn’t so bad.
