This place is a great escape from a hot day. Great staff, great work and a lovely, shaded breeze. Every seat has a view outside to the urban Santa Barbara world.

Haven’t had my toes done here in years. We made an appointment and it was great!

I got my acrylics done here and they did a decent job but not even too weeks later my nail snapped in a very painful way and tore away my skin because the glue wasn't strong enough

I feel like if you go here, you need to know exactly what you want and who you want to do it for you... I came in and asked for a gel manicure, and was given just that. No frills, no fuss. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I'm only giving 3 stars (and I hate giving less than 4!!) because my cuticles are flooded and the gel is uneven on my nails. The skin on the sides of my nails is stuck to the polish :( I feel they had some redeeming qualities, like the friendless of everyone at the salon! And the cleanliness, and the care they took. I'm just not completely sold.

Lux is my go-to nail salon. Every technician I've seen there has been excellent, and it's easy to get an appointment or walk in. I've had mani-pedis take twice or three times as long with similar or worse results. I had a gel pedi and buff mani over the weekend, and it took 45 minutes. Nothing felt rushed at all -- it was just delightfully efficient.

Same rude, nasty owner and rude, nasty greeting. I went a 9 am for a last minute polish change for a funeral downtown. The salon was empty, but one customer and several employees. I was rudely told by the owner that she no longer accepts any walk-ins and is by appointment only. Her business isn't advertised as walk-in and never used to be. I used to go here weekly several years ago, but the technicians kept quitting (three really good technicians and two okay ones), so I stopped going. Im the years I went there, I never once made an appointment, I just walked-in when I could squeeze it into my schedule and I went every week. The owner was rude and nasty then and I see that nothing has changed over the years. You would think an empty salon would prompt her to be professional and kind. Fortunately, I went to another salon and they did such an exceptional job that I will start going there every week, instead of my regular salon uptown I ended up with a happy ending, but this place is a huge thumbs down for me.

They are extremely rude at the phone. I would not go to this place. I called to book an appointment, the person treated me extremely badly. I was able to get an appointment an another saloon “Carat Nail Spa” and was really nicely treated. I would not suggest Nail Lux business.

Love this place. I came in looking for a solution for my nails. I like to keep long, but I work in a computer all day and do woodworking on the weekends. So I'm pretty rough with my nails. I came in and the owner tried gel x. While I loved the durability of the nails they weren't for me. I came back and she was able to use Gel Builder on my nails. Keeps them thin enough to look completely natural, use my natural length and she does THE BEST JOB. Seriously in all of Santa Barbara, best place for manicures and pedicures. Can not say enough good things about this place.

Average pedicure in an average nail spa. Not a friendly staff, boarder line rude. Poor customer service skills. Not given any menu or options. Average price. Requests cash but accepts credit cards & ApplePay. Look elsewhere for your nail needs

I'm a broke college student but needed to get my acrylics taken off after 6 weeks of them being grown out so I decided to come to Lux. I asked for a simple gel french tip manicure which I was told cost around $50. I got my old nails taken off ($10 extra which is fine) and the manager started to pull out dip powders which I didn't want. I told her I just asked for gel and she said the dip powder would last a lot longer so I eventually agreed to it. She did my nails and they looked good, and I ended up paying over $80 for it (with tip). I told her I can't afford to get my nails done regularly but I'd come back to her next time I need them done. 2 days later one nail completely falls off. So I go back and she agrees to fix it, however I don't notice until after I leave that it's a very yellowish tone base instead of pinkish and is very lumpy on the sides. Whatever. 5 days later, that same nail starts to lift and chips off and another nail comes completely off. It's been a little over a week now and almost every single nail is lifting up and constantly gets caught in my hair. I went back today to ask if she had anytime to fix those two nails and she told me to come back next week because she's booked every day, busy and doesn't feel well. By next week, every single nail will be gone and my natural long nails will break off. I'm just very disappointed because I told her I don't have much money to do stuff like this often and she started doing dip without even asking me before after I told her I just wanted gel. But I agreed, since she said they would last so much longer and the dip I got done at another place did last 6 weeks so I thought it would be the same here. But nope, I paid almost twice as much for something I didn't want that broke off in about a week. EDIT: Cindy just replied to my review and also messaged me personally and said 'she's sorry I had a bad day at school or something' because I'm upset with how my nails turned out. Cindy, the dip I had on my nails that you took off was from 6 weeks before, so apparently it can last six weeks. And I didn't expect that, but I was hoping they'd at least last two which they haven't. You say I came in a month ago? I didn't even live here a month ago LOL. It hasn't even been two weeks and I know this because I get paid every two weeks. I got paid and immediately got my nails done a week and a half ago and haven't gotten paid again yet so I'm not sure where you're getting a month and I don't appreciate that lie. I came in to ask you if you had 10-15 minutes at any point in the next couple days, I wasn't demanding you did my nails right that second. I understand you're short staffed, I work in customer service too. But if you're gonna do dip on my nails after I ask for gel because they 'last longer' (and cost almost twice as much) then I'm gonna be a little annoyed when they hardly last a week and a half.

I am not one to write negative reviews, and quite frankly I do not want a response back from this business because they reply back quite rudely to their customers and thats why I did not return for a refund. I called and asked for a gel manicure and they told me to come right away. I already had a gel manicure done on my healthy natural nails and I asked for a polish change, a shortening of my nails, and a simple gem design. I told the nail artist exactly what I wanted again when walking in and thought it would be clear because I did not have acrylics. Things were going well and the guy filed my natural nails into a coffin shape, which I asked for. I had one broken nail and was fine with getting regular gel polish on it and I thought he suggested an acrylic for it and I agreed for that one nail (so I thought) because it's going to be my birthday and one of the last times I am getting my nails done since I am a broke college student so I was fine with splurging a little to have the broken nail match the rest of my natural nails. As my natural nails were already pretty long, I asked him to shorten them a little and he said "cut?" and I said yes because I did not want them too long. He then cut all my nails down to my finger and that's when I knew this was going to turn bad. He pulled out the acrylic nail tips and put them on my fingers and I did not know what to say, as I was already extremely clear with what I wanted and I knew that since he cut my nails to their base that my nails were not going to look good short. When putting on the acrylic powder, the electric file that he used kept touching my cuticles and irritating/cutting my skin. I have gotten dozens of acrylic nail sets when I was younger and stopped getting them because they destroyed my natural nails and I have never been cut by an artist. He then asked if I wanted my cuticles cut because it would look better for $5 and I said yes because I trusted him. Since my cuticles were already cut, the hot water that I placed my hands in burned the cuts and I said that it was too hot but he did not do anything to cool the water off. Usually, nail salons include cuticle care in with the price of a manicure so I was caught off guard. When doing my cuticles, he cut my actual skin to the point that my finger wouldn't stop bleeding until I got home which is very unsanitary. He used a brush to wipe off the acrylic dust from filing my nails, and I just know my blood got all over it and the brush did not look clean either which should be a violation. ADDITIONALLY, the nail color on the display was not the same color that I received. On the display, it was a grey toned ashy blue, but the polish in the bottle was brighter and more of an "electric" blue. When I asked to put the gems on my nails, they were put on unevenly and the gel polish got on the side of my nails which I know will peel easily from having experience with nail salons. I came in expecting to get a $40 gel manicure, like how it says on their yelp page, and walked out spending nearly $100. My friend, who came into the salon with me, did not like her nails either and decided to tip $3 since she pointed out the mistakes made on her nails and the lady did not offer to lower the price of her nails. The lady who helped us when paying yelled "She only gave you $3" to her nail artist, so when it came to my turn to pay, the lady HOVERED over the payment device and I saw that the only tipping options were 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35%. It is extremely disrespectful to hover over a payment device and I tipped 20% (over $15) for the worst manicure I have ever gotten in my life. I am not one to complain or tip below 20% at any establishment, as I know people work hard for what they do, but the overall atmosphere was very disrespectful especially when I came in for a $40 gel manicure + gemstones and walked out with a $100 full set of acrylics. I am genuinely surprised that when I showed the lady at the front desk my bloody nails, that she did not offer to lower the price, as any respectful

Went in and it was busy but I decided to wait. The staff was super friendly. I got a gel manicure, this was my first time here and was close by to where I was so I decided to try it out. My gel manicure didn't look clean and nice. It looked a bit messy. Still tipped because again the staff was super friendly. After three days my gel was already chipping off. I also had tiny bubbles on some of the nails.

Love this place. The manicurists are very professional and friendly. Excellent service and so many polishes to choose from. I get the dip nails and sometimes a design and have never been disappointed. I only go here.
