I was given a beautiful custom laptop bag by Make Smith Leather... and I never wrote a review. Thing is, years later, the handle broke off (my fault), and these guys were so amazing. They fixed it, shortened my laptop strap and cleaned it all for FREE, and sent it on back to me. Everyone I talked with was courteous and professional, and my laptop bag looks better than ever. Couldn't recommend more highly.

What a gem! I wanted to order Christmas presents early from a local artisan due to the current supply chain nightmare. I had a fear that Santa would be delayed this year, so working with a local artisan was the solution to the mess we are all experiencing due to the pandemic. What stood out about the store was the variety of authentic, high quality, leather goods available within a variety of price points. No plastic and "pleather" here! My husband's only leather Italian belt is starting to bend and fray. So I ordered a belt and a mini wallet, from MakeSmith, both within my budget and price point. The artisan is actually the owner! Steven, the creator of the leather goods, called to make sure he got the custom measurements down right. He walked me through the process of how to measure for the belt, and he was so kind and professional on the phone. He also let me change the order from a brass buckle to a silver one. The store offered an easy to use, online service for those uncomfortable shopping during the pandemic. So that's how I ordered and paid for my items. The items were mailed at no cost, with lightening speed, with clear communication about shipping updates. Imagine my surprise to receive a durable, beautiful, high-quality belt and wallet. When I compared MakeSmith's belt to the Italian belt that's only 2 years old, there was no comparison. It was more durable, and the stitching was so beautiful, careful, and just perfect. Honestly, pictures online do not do it justice, the items themselves must be experienced in real life. I'm so impressed, that I will be continuing to work with the company to design custom leather goods for my dog and hopefully, a beautiful bag for myself one day. If you don't see a design you like, contact the company and they will collaborate with you to bring your vision to life. It feels good to not only support a local artisan, but to support a dying craft. Consider coming here for gift ideas but don't be shocked if you walk away with something for yourself!

Steven is so knowledgeable and the best! I wanted a clutch to attend an event and also wanted it to fit my every day needs afterwards so I went with the foldover wallet. Steven helped me add a strap to the foldover wallet to match the clutch style I wanted. It fits my credit cards, phone and other necessities that I can easily bring with me. I highly recommend Make Smith for all your leather goods!

This is a great place for custom leather projects and products. I came in to fix my picnic basket to have some high-quality leather buckles for the summer season. I really wanted high-quality leather and not below-average Amazon quality PU leather. Service: Steven was super helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me right away and gave great advice and quality options to updated my picnic basket. Steven also gave general advice of great venues to picnic at and where to get good charcuterie (adult Lunch-ables) nearby at C'est Cheese. He also provided information about possible leather making classes when things get better and more local stores open up. Great customer experience and great quality leather. Environment: The vibe of the store is like mini-Shinola store; it had vinyl records playing and cool interior decor. If I have inkling to get something with leather, Make Smith Leather Co. will be my first go-to stop
