The UCSB Department of Recreation features very beautiful, well-kept turf with great scenery. The weight room is very highly packed but has all the machinery and free weights needed, offering an intense vibe. However, the staff at the host desk often do not greet people, requiring training. Visitors must remember to enter their license plate at the parking meter across the street to avoid a ticket.

The machines suck and both gyms get overcrowded. The ping pong rooms are very cool however. The ceramics program is more limited than your average California high schools’, but the instructor was great. The tennis courts out back are in great shape

Overly crowded, bad infrastructure and poorly organized. I really wanted to like this gym, but the truth is it is too small for the amount of students so a lot of the weights they have now are just improvised as to where they are located. The place desperately needs a budget for a renovation.
