I walked in with a wobbly rear wheel on my mobility walker and asked if they knew of someone who would be able to fix it. Without hesitation he pulled out some tools and did it for me right there on the spot. I am so grateful for the kindness of this business.

I moved to Santa Barbara 4 years ago, and, by far, the store at which I have shopped the most is San Andres Hardware! I LOVE this store. If you need an item they don't have on the shelves, ask Chris to see if he can order it for you. (He usually can.) Papa (the owner) is so nice, funny, and knowledgeable. When you walk in, you feel like you're in an old school corner store. No roaming around trying to find help or an item. Papa and Chris immediately know where everything is. You need just a nut or a bolt? No need to buy a whole box. San Andres has an entire section of "loose" necessities. Sometimes you pay more than you would at a big box store. But, most times you do not. Support a local store and local people. You will be glad you did!

Always very helpful. It's a small store but they vary a lot of different products. Everything from garden items, things to fix your plumbing issues, and even gifts and fun stuff for a man/woman cave. Prices aren't bad. Competitive, I'd say. One thing I know is that they are knowledgeable. I appreciate that. You go to Home Depot after 3 no one knows how to help you if you have a question. If the employees can't help. What's the punt of being open after hours. I LOVE THIS STORE

I recently came here to buy a ball pump, and the experience was disappointing. The workers were unfriendly and unhelpful, and it took a long time to find someone who could help me. The business offered a small range of ball pumps, and the one I bought was of poor quality and did not perform well. I was dissatisfied with the overall process and would not recommend this Hardware to anyone.

I've been here multiple times. High prices, not very helpful. Have told me on the phone that they have something, only to arrive and find that they didn't. The last straw was when I had two keys made. Neither worked. They won't give a refund, but tried to rework the keys. Didn't work on the second try, either. Save some time and aggravation by driving a few extra minutes to Ace.

It’s sad because this is my local hardware shop, and I support them. Despite the fact that their prices are higher than other larger stores, it’s convenient, and I want to support the local business. However, this place continues to disappoint at every turn. I show up at 4:30 PM and they are posted as being open until five. The guy is still there outside locking his parking lot at 4:35, 25 minutes before their posted closing time, but refuses to allow me to purchase anything or enter. Unapologetic, unhelpful.

Hard for me to believe anyone would give San Andres Hardware a less than stellar review!! Let's be clear, THEY ARE NOT HOME DEPOT or other big box hardware. They are not the Home Improvement Center, which has probably 15 times the square footage, they ARE a small locally owned, family operated, neighborhood hardware store. Kathy & Sean try to stock everything they can that we, their friends & neighbors, may need for household repairs and projects. Papa & Chris run the store, Chris knows more than any Home Depot store manager could ever hope to know and Papa, well Papa is Papa, kind as the day is long and always makes me glad I shop there. Sean is a contractor (great choice if you are thinking of remodeling) and Kathy raises 4 kids and manages all the businesses. But what, for me, & I hope for you, is the very best part... they are the ONLY locally owned neighborhood hardware store left in south county. Kathy tries really hard to keep it affordable and they are truly decent & kind people. Yes, I am obviously a friend and a fan...how did we become friends? Because, I started shopping at the hardware store shortly after they bought it, my good fortune on more than one level. No, they do not stock everything, although, I always see contractors' trucks in the parking lot but they rarely don't have what I need. I'll gladly pay a few cents more and hold on to one of the only locally owned small businesses we have left.

Great store! Super friendly. Glad to have a hardware store on the west side. They always have what I'm looking for.

Great store, I hate going into huge places like Home Depot, it's nice that there are still little mom n pop stores like these that I can quicky get in and out, very friendly and knowledgeable service

This great locally owned business is always my go-to hardware store before I go to the big corporates. Poppy is awesome, a great old guy who knows what he's talking about. And even though it is a smaller store there got what you need and they even have an outdoor gardening section which is better than one might think. All in all please support this store they deserve it!

I asked for help finding a specific screw I was looking for, and was personally insulted and treated worse than I’ve ever experienced in any place of business, by someone who said they were the owner.

I think I might have dealt with the same person as the other reviewer, Nancy G. I've never written a review for anything in my life, and I don't like negative reviews. But I went to this store which I had been to a few times before, looking for a screw to replace a ceiling fan wing. I asked for help finding the specific screw I was looking for, and the young man angrily refused to help and told me I could go somewhere else. He proceeded to loudly complain about me to another person in the store, and loudly insulted me about the way I smell, and my "rude-ass attitude." I was completely kind to him when I asked him for help. I've never been treated like this in a place of business in my life. It's a shame that this happens at a family business. This person said that they were the owner and manager of the store when I asked if I could deal with a manager.

Up until this week I have been happy with this store. There is a new employee, a nice looking young man, who was rude and hostile toward me. I was just asking where I could find birdseed. It was concealed in a can among lots of other things. He said you know where it is. I said you directed me there but couldn’t see it. “Yes, you saw it. Yes, you saw it.” He said angrily. I Would not ask for it if I could find it myself. No excuse for his rudeness, as I have been very polite. I want to buy another chair there, but will not go there with him.

This place is awful! They buy poor quality products from dollar stores and then sell it at ridiculous mark ups. No returns, so too bad WHEN (not if) it breaks. The owner lady is highly unpleasant, she's always yelling and nasty. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they're laundering $$$ from drug sales.
