Short version: I would not recommend going here or even getting a quote for service. Really poor pricing, transparency and customer service. I brought my car in based on the quality of reviews but my personal experience was very different. Long version: My 2016 GTI need a water pump and thermostat replacement (very common for this car) so I called the shop for a diagnostic and estimate and brought the car in the next day. I drop the car off at 9am with Hector and again described the issue and reiterated that I think it needs a water pump and thermostat replacement to which he responds they will check it out and give me a call around noon. At 3:50pm I call (goes to voicemail) the shop and ask for an update. They call me back promptly at 3:56pm and let me know they will perform the diagnostic the next day and give me a quote. At 10:12am the next day they let me know the the water pump and thermostat needs to be replaced and the repair will cost $2,000 total and $200 for the diagnostic. Approximately $800 in parts and $1200 in labor (6hrs). I was shocked by the labor rate and let them know I would call other shops and give them a call back. I called 3 other shops in town (who all had experience with this exact repair) and all of them quoted me between $1400 and $1500 total with labor rates much lower (~$150/hr). I called Ventura VW to see what their labor rates are and they told me they charge $200/hr. I called back (again went to voicemail) and told them I would like to pick up the car and get it serviced elsewhere. This shop wasted my time and my money and I will never be back or recommend them. They wasted my time by not performing the diagnostic timely and also provided an absurd quote which could have been done over the phone (as it was for the 3 other shops in town). They wasted my money by charging me $200 for a diagnostic when I specifically told them the issue over the phone and in person.

Driving from LA to SF my BMW X3 sprang a cooling system leak. Fortunately I was in Santa Barbara instead of some godforsaken spot on hwy 101. I found SB Autowerks on Google and limped there with the greatest apprehension. Hector put me at ease and within 3 hours had diagnosed the problem, found the necessary parts (new coolant expansion tank) and I was on my way. Whew! Tragedy averted. Thanks, guys!

Hector and the whole Autowerks team are amazing. Better communication than the Audi dealership, better pricing, and a lot nicer to work with…. I trust these people ?.I had a coolant leak and got a new reservoir, water pump, and a hose. So easy to schedule and get the job completed with Hector

We had our front lower engine shield separate and get damaged on the Highway on our way down to Santa Barbara. Autowerks looked at our car immediately, ordered the necessary part and booked us for two days later the same morning the part was due in. It was such a smooth process! We felt they treated us like we could have been one of their regular customers. We highly recommend SB Autowerks!

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change last week, for today at SB autowerks. Came in got a quote for 270$ presented my access 50% discount they said ok... 2 hours later received a call that my car needed a tune up a quote for 1600$ I declined the tune up service. They could no longer make time for my oil change. Wasted 3 hours of my time. 876,000 hours in life. You took 3 thank you I will not return.

Hector & Peter are friendly, professional and great communicators. Although the cost of having a car (and pretty much every modern luxury) has gone up significantly (ouch!) the past few years, I'm glad I found them and I still feel good about hiring them for all of my unwanted (HA!) auto repairs.

The crew here is honest and efficient and best of all knowledgeable! I have been here twice in two years and they have fixed both separate issues very effectively. Great communication and they treat people with respect. Like people! Highly recommend if you have a German car. (I think that's all they service here.)

Hector was extremely helpful with my Audi RS5. Audi's can be tricky beasts, but Hector and crew were very methodical and careful through the entire process. They resolved the issues in less than 48 hours. This is my new go to for repairs and service.

This place is absolutely top notch. I received Incredible service while in route to Southern California. We had ab low coolant light on our Mercedes, so I went straight to yelp to find out who might be able to help in a pinch. This business came highly recommended by you folks on yelp! Thank goodness that I didn't go anywhere else. Peter came to our rescue and fixed the problem and sent us on our way so quickly. Thank you so much for being just a kind, kind human.
