I've found some awesome stuff here at some amazing prices. You just have to look for it. The people that leave bad reviews discussing the store's image are not thrifters. A true thrift store has no image it's trying maintain, it's what you find that counts.

I've been thrift store shopping in S.B. And Goleta for 55 years and Magnolia Thrift is hands down my favorite because I love the hunt. I have found so many gems here at low prices by coming often and searching. I don't care for the piped in advertising and music and it's not the cleanest, BUT IT'S A THRIFT STORE!! They take debit cards, give you play money to spend on the following Tuesday and have specials consistently on certain days of the week. Also I drop stuff off all the time and there are pins to place itemsI don't like all the staples or when a tag somehow comes off and it's not available til the next day. Every now and then I go to Good Will, Alpha, Destined for Grace and can't believe the prices they want! At least 3 x higher. I don't expect Thrift Stores should wash everything before they sell it. That's my job and I always carry hand sanitizer. Another important plus is the fact that they have been a long time tenant and help the other businesses stay alive in that shopping center and keep people employed. I support this nonprofit. Maybe I'm schizophrenic! As hinted at in one of the prior reviews. Viva Magnolia Thrift##

It was a little dirty. Lots of items though -so you might be able to find a gem in all of it. Prices were good.

Used to be my favorite thrift store. Great deals and decent selection. Came back today while visiting from out of town and the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Keep in mind all of this stuff is donated, used, middle of the road quality clothes and shoes. They were asking $50 for used dirty nikes. $80 for boots with worn out soles. This place is also known for not washing their donations which was fine when items were under $10 but not for these prices, it was insane!! No longer recommended supporting this business?

One of the worst store I’ve ever been to. It’s crowded, the employees were rude to both me and my friend, they write on the book spine in permanent marker making it difficult to read what the title is and the customers are also rude unlike most thrift stores I frequent. I will not step foot in this establishment again.

Worth a stop if you like thrifting! It isn’t a big shop compared to some of the other shops in town, but they gave great deals each week based on the color of the tags. Not the best selection if you’re looking for household items, but they have a lot of clothes and deals on books.

I wanted to like this thrift store because they have some amazing sales. But I won't even go back. What's the point? Even when you do find something you want, it's going to have a stain or hole or stretched out neck. The clothing is just all trashed. And the stuff that isn't damaged will be effectively damaged by how they apply tags, with staples, sometimes 4 or 5 of them, through the tag and collar. They literally staple over the tags inside shirts so you can't see the size or brand. Add to this the fact they play Christian radio with a constantly talking DJ and over this they play a repetitive loop every few minutes of a voice explaining their sale deals, its so distracting to try and shop there - it's like being inside the head of some Born Again schizophrenic.

Obviously this doesn’t compare to thrifts in NY or LA but for Santa Barbara, this is the best thrift in town. I always find something and the prices are reasonable. Plus they always have sales and they have new items rotating often.

This was a real meh trip for me. On one hand its filled with all kinds of stuff. Lots to look at. But most everything was priced high. The jewelry was displayed very nicely and all prices were visible, which I can appreciate but the jewelry was all dated, cheap and overpriced for what it was. Same with two decades old used makeup- basically if it was in the cases it was over priced. I didn't find anything in this trip but my friend found a pair of pants. Its organized and has a LOT of stuff to look at. Employees were helpful enough.

This is, by far, my favorite thrift store because the prices are phenomenal. It's also easy to drop by the back of the store and donate items. I took off a star because they aren't really doing much to address the COVID issue besides asking people to wear masks (no line, no limitation on people in the store, no arrows to direct the line of traffic). Despite that, I would recommend coming on Saturdays, near holiday times, because they often have 50% off the entire store sales--which are totally awesome.
