When something seems to good to be true it usually is. Caution here with this company. They are totally unreliable. They set me back weeks of packing and moving. So here's my story. I filled out an application online and then received a call back from Ty. He was very helpful and since I had no experience renting a Container to be delivered to my home he went through the steps. I then called another competitor to compare. I am not sure when and where my new location would be but Cool Box was one that had the possible long distance move locations so I called them back and got an office in Arizona where the rep was very helpful as well, and even lowered the price of the quote and gave me half off the initial delivery fee. So, I went with them and scheduled the date which was also sooner than the other companies since this is their busy season. They gave me a time window of 8 - 5 for delivery and the guy arrived late in the day. I lived on a gated property. He didn't like the first location so I took him around the property and we settled on depositing the box in front of my garage. Then he went back to his truck with the box on it which was parked on the side of the road outside my property and didn't come back. My husband went out and over to him and the delivery guy said he got a call from his office and was no longer able to deliver the box so he left. I was bewildered and panicking. We don't have a lot of time to move and we waited about a week for this delivery and now I had to start over. We called the office and Ty answered and said he'd call me back because he didn't know what was going on. He called back and said that the driver man was not answering his phones. When he called me back the 2nd time he said that they were "Closing All" of their locations in Ventura and the closest place they could store my container would be San Diego and I would have to pay for the trip there and back if I wanted to use their container. I couldn't believe it. Didn't they know that before renting it to me? This sounded like some bull excuse because the delivery guy had not even called in. If the company decided that they didn't want to rent the box to us for some reason they should have just been straight about it. They set me back weeks and I don't even know if I can find another container on time.

We had use CoolBox to move from the Bay Area to Sacramento and then to Chowchilla. They have always been very polite and helpful whenever we call them. We had rent 4 CoolBox container and the price has been fair with great service. I would highly recommend them.

After my initial complaint a supervisor reached out to me and was able to accommodate my needs. The remainder of the move went smoothly, on schedule and everyone was polite and helpful

In today's progress in a leaky, moldy Cool Box Portable Storage, or should they be renamed Moldbox, I was able to move out enough to see ALL FOUR corners leaked. When speaking to the "VP" yesterday his robot answer was various phrases of "my hands are tied, you declined the insurance". I declined it because we had used them successfully multiple times before and we already had renters insurance. Our renters insurance did not cover the leak because it was a result of a damaged container. But all the "VP" could say was "you declined the insurance". That's his excuse for not standing up and doing the right thing. My sofa and most of my belongings are easily replaced, I'm not worried about them in the least. He does not care I've already taken a week off of work to deal with this and I have 2-3 more weeks still. He does not care it is 95 degrees, making a sucky situation worse. He does not care we've gone to significant additional expense to rent a large dumpster to dispose of our ruined belongings. He doesn't care about hours and hours of cleaning things to try and salvage them from the mold and repack them into new tubs and take them to a secure, clean storage facility, also at significant expense. He does not care that despite precautions, my eyes burn, nose, throat and lungs burn from the exposure to mold. He does not care about the stress, exhaustion and emotional toll this has taken. It's about so much more than the loss of replaceable belongings. Back to his phone call yesterday- he actually compared car insurance to his insurance I declined. But he is ridiculously comparing apples to oranges. If I have an accident in my car, insurance has it covered. If my vehicle has a defective feature, the manufacturer makes it right. Yet MoldBox will not take responsibility for delivering a faulty container. Thank y'all for listening to my long post. I unfortunately think this won't be my last post as I do not expect CoolBox to stand up and do the right thing. What ever you do stay away from them!! Feel free to share this post! The more people that know the better!! UPDATE- Both MoldBoxes have been emptied and both have multiple significant leaks. MoldBox is completely unresponsive and caring. I have sent the receipt for the dumpster as well as my Drs bill for being treated for toxic mold exposure. Please share with anyone you know to save anyone else this heartache!!

Very disappointed in this company. On recommendation from our realtor I contacted them in May to inquire about our move. Their prices were very reasonable in comparison with others. Our move was delayed, so I understand why they wouldn’t honor the quote, but they are also not honoring the service they promised. Our first pod was delivered on the 25th. 2nd one scheduled for the 1st and would pickup pod 1 at that time. I was told 7-10 days from pickup to delivery to my home, BUT now they are saying they cannot pickup pod 2 for 3 WEEKS. And can’t deliver either pod OR schedule delivery to my home until after they have both pods. NOW they get to charge me 2 months rent for each pod, because of their incompetence. If I could get a moving truck, I would cancel pod 2. I’ll be lucky to have my stuff at me new house in over a month. BIG mistake! I’m also worried about retaliation for a bad review, but really want people warned. Also pickup and delivery scheduled for 10am BUT told it can be anywhere between 8-5 and I’ll get 30 minutes notice…….

update 7/1. A supervisor reached out due to my review and they have agreed to pickup the container next week and have set delivery dates. Thanks to Lanetta's excellent customer service, I have added a star. I will update as we progress. 6/30:Can't select no stars. Very disappointed in this company. The gate person was there humbly on time open up the gate was very friendly very personable was very upfront allowed me to do what I needed to do to get my stuff in my storage left me alone give me the time I needed and this was the best experience I've had in storage shed storing in my life

Please keep reading to find out why this review doesn't get 5 stars despite the fact that this portable storage company really came through for my family and me when our home was being threatened by the raging lightning fire complex back in August of this year. This company is reasonably priced compared to other we looked into such as "Pack Rat" or PODS. They even had the desired size (and insulated) storage units that we were looking for for our larger and irreplaceable, antique furniture pieces. However, their customer service really needs to be improved. For example: If you're an existing customer trying to reach customer service, your best bet is to dial one (which, keep in mind, is for NEW customers in need of a quote) when you try to get through to their customer service operators. If you dial two when prompted, all you will ever get to do is leave a voicemail with absolutely NO (and I mean ZERO) chance of a return phone call and/or email. Otherwise, the processes of delivery, pick up and relocation (all of which are services my family and I utilized during our time of need) are quick, painless and efficient. Again, you can't beat the cost. The driver(s) was/were always experienced, friendly and maintained COVID-19 protocols. The website and customer/client web portal was easy to use. The "day-before" confirmation call for any delivery, pick up or relocation always happened and said call gave a pretty good idea of the window of time during which the driver would arrive the next day.

Great service! I originally reserved with Pack Rat and they did me soooo wrong....they changed my drop off date 2 times (delayed 5 days). I already had everything scheduled around for my move in my personal and work life and they couldn't even tell me a reasonable excuse. Long story short, I canceled with them and went with Cool Box... they were able to drop off my container 2 days later and got here early in the morning! They seriously saved me from a worst disaster that pack rat did.

Sometimes they'll come through for you, but that's only if you can get a hold of them. I've been trying to call and email for two days to get this empty container out of our driveway, but nobody's answering phones or responding to email. You're supposed to be able to schedule a pickup date on their website, but even that's not working for me. So I'm stuck with this box in my driveway until I find a way to get a hold of someone.If I had to do it over again, I'd definitely shell out the extra money for PODS.

Their customer service sucks! And had I know this... I would have ordered a POD instead and saved all the headaches! I reserved a cool box for delivery this Friday, and I told the phone rep I wanted to be here when it was delivered to make sure it gets placed in the correct spot (because the last box was not placed in the correct spot). The rep said the box will be delivered between 10-12 noon on Friday, so I rescheduled my meetings today. I am waiting at the site and called Cool Box to confirm the box will be dropped off between 10-12 noon, and a different phone rep said the driver will call 30 minutes before arriving, and then said the delivery time cannot be pre-arranged, and said the person who told me that has only been on the job for two weeks. OK... after two weeks on the job, all of their people should know they cannot arrange a specific delivery time. And, then to simply tell me the other person has only been on the job for two weeks... as their lame excuse for screwing up my day and inconveniencing multiple people is ridiculous at best. I have other words... which I will not use. The other issue is they do not have enough people answering their phones. I waited on hold multiple times for over ten minutes, left my number on voice mail twice to be called back - and NO call backs. They cant's get their email to work properly. Cool Box may be less, but not it's worth the multiple hassles and inconvenience... based on my experience. Pay a little more and get a POD, or another service. Hope they show up today... sometime!

I already am renting a Pods unit and found out about Cool Box so I decided to call them since I am needing yet another storage unit but after calling Cool Box, which I was immediately on hold for about 5 minutes before anyone even answered and then the woman on the other end of the line was impatient and condescending and told me she would need the quote I got from Pods to be able to give me a quote for moving the unit to another city and that is when I ended the call. If they can't give me a straight quote without an attitude then I will not deal with them. They certainly don't know how to treat a prospective customer so how can the treatment of an actual customer be better? I'm sure its even worse once you pay them anything. Poorly run business for sure.

UNRELIABLE. HARD TO GET HOLD OF. These guys were supposed to deliver my 20foot container on Friday. So, I hired workers to move stuff. Got a call on Thursday that they'd now deliver the container on Saturday. Fair enough... and I rescheduled the movers to come on Saturday instead. They promised that that truck would show up between 8-10am. Its now 2pm and there is no sign of the truck. So, now i am paying for the workers to sit idle and twiddle their thumbs while I wait for this truck "that's just around the corner". Countless phone calls to the company and it seems like even they can't get hold of the truck driver. WHAT A MESS! Seems like they have no idea how of manage their staff or their business. Terribly disappointed and I am down $300 for the unused labor. Please don't waste your time with this company. Its partly my fault for ignoring the warning signs in all the negative reviews
