I went for the first time a few days ago and wow!! The service, environment, and food were great! I had a portobello sandwich and my boyfriend had a goat cheese pizza. We both were in la la land. All the ingredients were fresh and the combination of flavors were perfect. I definitely want to go again to taste other dishes!

Fantastic Italian place that is a gem in the middle of Santa Clara. We found this place while driving around looking for an Italian place for dinner. The ambience and the friendly staff immediately helped me settle down and the plane was busy as well. They bring our fresh bread with roasted garlic while you wait for your food and needles to say they were both delicious. We ordered a portobello pizza and artichoke stuffed ravioli. One of the best pizzas I've had so far and this place beats down the ones in mountain view and San Francisco. Do go here if you want quality Italian food with a nice ambience.

We had 3 dishes - 1) Ravioli Trio 2) Gorgonzola Gnocchi 3) Cheese Tortellini with Chicken and we had a clear favorite....+ Service was excellent. John our server was amazing, friendly attentive, even our sassy 4 year old was all about John (or Red as friends call him)+ Portions were a good size+ Flavor was great in every dish+ Creamy sauces did not feel overly heavy+ Pastas were cooked perfectly- the only con was that one of the utensils had a bit of food stuck to it we noticed when we picked it upFavorite was the Gorgonzola Gnocchi - the radicchio sauce, spinach and walnut blended perfectly with a perfectly cooked gnocchi.Chocolate mousse was devine!

Are you in Santa Clara and in need of a delicious Italian restaurant? Well, this is the perfect place! It is located on the corner of Benton and Monroe Street in the Central plaza. The exterior looked artsy and reminded me of a Color Me Mine, so I had no idea it was a restaurant, but I am so glad I stopped by to try this place today! Seating: The restaurant is fairly small and does not have a lot of seating, but they have an outdoor seating area on the sidewalk that is perfect for warm days like these. Service: The wait was not long and we got our food about 20 minutes after ordering. The workers were friendly and it was nice seeing how jolly this place is. Food & Order: - caprese: it was a huge piece of tomato that was extremely refreshing, especially because it was paired with the large basil. In addition, the mozzarella was thick and creamy. The order came with a side of pesto that was fairly light. Linguine with Clams: this dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were not too overpowering and it had the perfect amount of tomato sauce for the amount of pasta served. The clams were also very delicious. Garlic roasted Chicken: the sliced pieces of chicken on the pizza were a bit questionable, but I was shocked by how easily it was to bite through. My favorite part of the pizza was the creamy garlic sauce base. I am a firm believer that the base is what makes the pizza, so it did just that!! Bread Pudding (not pictured): for dessert, we had a delicious bread pudding that was paired with ice cream and refreshing strawberries . The pudding drenched in a creamy vanilla sauce and the bread had a chewy consistency that reminded me of Mochi. This was the first time I thoroughly enjoyed bread pudding and I was so impressed by this dish. Over 5/5 restaurant. The service, food, ambiance, and speed went above and beyond expectations. We only tried 4 items on the menu and I can not wait to get more. I highly recommend this restaurant. I hope this review helps you decide which dishes to try!

I've been eating here for 25 years and each time I find a new favorite menu item. This joint is everything a neighborhood Italian restaurant should be. Atmosphere, staff, menu, value and chefs are all first-rate, top shelf. The owner, Johnny, really knows what he's doing and the chefs are pro's happy to do their work in the open kitchen. Everyone here cares -- that's obvious from the start. My latest fave is the chicken cannelloni with cream sauce. The bruschetta is a great opener if you have the appetite. Nice wine list, too.

Taste and Presentation = AMAZING Parking = Decent (better than parking downtown) Customer service = 4 stars (could use an extra server on a busy night) This has to be in the top 3 Italian restaurant in the South Bay. I love the homey feeling you get when you walk in like it's your own. Definitely a hidden gem. I was referred to by a friend and will be definitely going back. Everyone should try this place at least once, you won't regret it!

Excellent service, well proportioned, clean. Near Santa Clara University. A great alternative to some other Italian restaurants.

1 hit and 2 misses when it comes to my purchases here. The initial visit consisted of: PORTABELLA FUSILLI- mushroom, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, corn, & pasta tossed in garlic marsala sauce. BAKED PENNE W/ ITALIAN SAUSAGE- mushroom, italian sausage, & penne pasta baked in tomato cream sauce & cheese. I've never gone wrong when it comes to pasta and marsala sauce but my high hopes for this dish crashed & burned. Mushroom aspect was good, pasta was cooked well, but the marsala sauce was waaaay too sweet. So sweet that I immediately felt sick after eating the dish and I fully regretted the purchase. While the baked penne didn't look too appetizing, this dish was absolutely delicious. Tomato cream sauce's flavors were spot on and Mio Vicino was very generous with the sausage pieces. I was very conflicted with my first experience but decided to come back and give them another go since I was in the area. With my 2nd visit I decided to go with a lighter option and purchased a shrimp caesar salad. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and the flavors weren't boring. My disappointment falls on the soggy, pre dressed salad, and the stale croutons. 2 stars overall with my experience. With that said, I'd be open to come back and test out another pasta dish but I'd stick to the marinara.

I was very disappointed. My food was not editable. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo. The dish was noddles and copious amounts of olive oil.The coagulated heavy whipping cream that topped the noddles told me my dish had most likely been reheated from yesterday’s scrapings.I would have been better off grabbing a selection of frozen dinners.

Great food and quieter atmosphere. Food is always tasty. No alcohol drinks, but they do have wine.

It had been a while. It was good. Not great. But the service was good and the atmosphere is fun. You get what you pay for. The garlic is a nice touch.

Visited here for the first time in about 20 years and as I remembered, had a great meal for lunch. The garlic bread is amazing and the bruschetta chicken sandwich was delicious.

OVER PRICED & BLAND FOOD!$19 for tortellini that taste store bought like the kind you buy in a box. The chicken was DRY! The presentation for to-go orders is awful. The other thing was $21. I was tricked by the reviews. I will NEVER go back. This was my experience as a to-go / take out experience.
