This is a massive Safeway in Rivermark in North San Jose. The store area is massive and it is very well lit. The staff are friendly, and they know what to find where. The store itself has clearly labelled sections. There are a large number of billing counters. Parking is available nearby in the free parking lot. Highly recommended.

as of today, renovations is still on… Overall, I like this location and consider it my grocery since it is so close to everything. It has ample selection of organic veggies and free range eggs, lots of ethnic food that I can get if I ran out when ranch 99 or Hmart is closed.
I will wait for the completion of the construction to edit my review.
But This is OK and I am glad that they are upgrading their store or my store :)

Tried to ask self checkout employee Christine for help but she couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone, texting. Told me to "hold on". She seemed annoyed to have to her job. Not professional.

The staff working at customer service desk on 6/29 around 1:30PM has the worst attitude. She was yelling at me. Felt so sad that this is how Safeway serves and helps their neighborhood.

This is one of the better Safeways. This is where you would go when you cannot find what you want at the other Safeway. They offer fast service as well.

I’ve lived in this area for 10 years and this has been my main Safeway for all that time.
Recently I’ve had two encounters with the store manager Vivian where she dismissed me and told me I was wrong and couldn’t do anything about it although my time was wasted and the mistake was on the store. First situation, was when something was marked down by one of her employees and I waited 30 mins to get helped by someone only to tell me I was wrong and the price couldn’t be matched. Secondly, I was in the store and due to the remodeling, a fridge was completely empty in which I needed something, I couldn’t find an employee anywhere for guidance. I walked around the whole store, finally ran into the manager and she told me there is nothing she can do to help me in regards to what I needed with a snarky tone.
This is my home Safeway and I do not want to have to travel further but may have to do so to avoid this type of service.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is by far the worst run Safeway store in this area. Sadly it is the closest to our house so we've been going back to it. Regularly they sell expired products (milk, yoghurt, etc.) on the shelves and are still being sold. I should not need to worry about buying milk that's way past it's best by date. we've had numerous instances of meat or produce bought that day that was bad when we opened it at home. Today 2 items that were within expiration date were moldy as they also don't seem to be able to store their products properly. The store manager needs to take a close look at his operations it's a sad showing. Yesterday was definitely my last trip there, will take my money elsewhere even it it means a little bit of a drive.

Impossible to find staff to help, store is an absolute madhouse, and somehow they don’t regularly stock distilled water. How does a gorgeous store not have this?

Active construction zone inside the store. Impossible to find anything. Would you put something in your body from a construction zone?

If you live at 550 moreland, you can walk there. It’s also close to Hyatt house.
