Remarkably similar experience as some of the other negative reviews.Adopting our pet was smooth other than the frequent last minute delays brought on by general disorganization. "I'll be there in 1 hour" then 2 then 3 etc. That was just an annoyance. When it came time to deliver us rabies proof and all the other paperwork things took a rapid dark turn. We simply wanted proof of rabies to be safe with the training requirement and our liability when the dog is out n about. The owner responded to our brief request with a multi paragraph emotional rant. Truly baffling stuff. Then came lie after lie. In a single email thread the paperwork was available but she was too busy to deliver it then sick then came the doozy that explains why this is a pattern behavior...The states intent of mutt match is to deceive the adopter into thinking they will get paperwork upon adoption then withhold the paperwork until the trainer friend is paid. This is not what you will be told upfront. Once we knew the trainer friend for some reason did not worry about rabies proof (most do require it) we booked training immediately. The trainer is fantastic and likely unaware of what is happening. Then the paperwork showed up. In the 2 month process of dealing with deception and negative emotional commentary that borders on childish name calling (to give a flavor of how weird it gets) our pet was unable to go to our groomers or vet as they require proper paperwork. In summary, The dog is not the priority. The money is. And that would be fine if it was a honest adoption process. But the bizarre deceptive business practices turned a simple process into a constant headache with a high conflict personality at the cost of the dogs well being. Poor management. Would avoid this place like the plague. The owner says she simply "laughs" at Yelp negative reviews when respectfully asked about the pattern we saw in other reviews.

So there's not actually an adoption facility at the place the directions takes you to. There is a pet store with a very nice staff, whom I asked about finding MuttMatch. They said that the owner is unresponsive about the actual location you can meet any animals. They did recommend St. Bonnie's as another option, though. I would check there first before this place.

Be very careful when dealing with Sheilah. Our experience was terrible. Sheilah gladly took my money for the adoption fee, but never gave me the dog's medical records OR vaccination records (About which she was not forthcoming). First, she made the excuse of not having a scanner to scan the records to send to me, then she said she didn't have them, the previous owner still had them, and she would have a hard time getting them from him), and she never gave or sent me the contract to sign that she made such a big deal of (which I guess is a blessing in disguise so that I wouldn't be tied to her for the life of the dog). A professional way to do it would have been to have all of the medical and vaccination records and the contract ready to go when she came over to deliver the dog and take my money. But none of that was furnished. Very unprofessional, shoddy, deceptive, and she was very late both times she came to our house and for the initial meet and greet. What I realized without her ever telling me was that we were in some sort of trial period. When I told her I needed to board the animal temporarily but I needed the vaccination records to do that, she said I could do that, but I would have to go through her to put the dog with anyone. I asked why since I own the dog and I paid the fee. She said I don't own the dog because I never signed a contract. I told her I never signed it because she never gave it to me! She told me she never sent it to me because I had so many problems with the dog. The very first day she delivered the dog and everything was fine, she didn't have the contract ready. She also didn't have the contract ready for the next two days when she didn't know there was a problem. That was a total lie on her part. When we did start to have problems with the dog and I told her so, she shamed me and my family saying we didn't give the dog a chance. She shamed my 16-year-old daughter because the dog was terrorizing her and she was feeling extremely uncomfortable and had to be separated from the dog. Sheilah compared my daughter on more than one occasion to a four-year-old who had previously lived with the dog and had no problems!!!! We were not against getting training for the dog, but it was Sheilah herself after seeing the initial interaction between this dog and our older dog being so wonderful, said that even though she normally requires a training session with her expensive trainer ($350), this time we would probably be fine if we just used a couple of Petco sessions. So it was she who told us that. So I had that in my mind along with the fact that on both occasions that our dog met with the new dog, everything went great. Then the new dog started acting up and was unappeasable and hyperactive, was always pacing and had extremely high anxiety, wouldn't go in his crate, barely slept through the night, cried and howled when we put him in the crate, started terrorizing our dog, and more. I was calling trainers but they all wanted vaccination records first, which I couldn't get from Sheilah. Also we were realizing that the training alone was going to cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Every quote I got was upwards of $800-$1000 or more. We realized we were in over our heads. At one point Sheilah just called me and raised her voice and talked over me and shamed me and my family some more and blamed us for everything. She also accused me of sending "a bunch of emails" complaining about the dog, when I sent ONE to her assistant reiterating we needed them to take the dog back ASAP. Lastly, Sheilah badmouthed my family on social media saying we had no clue how great the dog was, and it was our loss. I cried for DAYS after giving the dog back. I loved that dog. I spent almost $250 at the vet getting much-needed treatment for his allergies and hotspots KNOWING I was going to give him back. I also spent tons of money on his toys KNOWING I was going to give him back, and gave all of the toys to Sheilah so that he could be happy in his future home. It is

Hello. My name is Sheilah, I am the founder of Mutt Match LA.This is the first time I've read reviews here on Google. We all know there's two sides to every story and two stories to every side. Here's ours......We meet people from all walks of life and I can honestly say from experience, people nowadays people want everything to go their way and when it doesn't they need someone to point the bad guy finger at. DOG forbid they actually take responsibility for their own behaviors. Forget about our protocols, our procedures, our requirements, if we do not give them what they want we are "rude" "insensitive" horrible people!Sierra S, who posted a negative comment here isn't even one of our adopters, unfortunately her sister was. We were, and always are, very upfront about each dogs needs, temperments and requirements because it doesn't do anyone any good not to be. April's sister just HAD to have the dog, she was so smitten with him and he was to fill the void of a man in her life. Despite a two hour long training session (which I myself was present at) she did everything to fail the dog. She left her front door open and he ran out, she had a hard time catching him. She took him to a client meeting and left him ALONE in a room with an eight year old child while eating a bone and gues what happend? Of course she blamed US and returned the dog. We like to give adopters the benefit of the doubt and empower them to step up to the plate. We go above and beyond giving adopters all the tools they need to succeed and when they don't it's OUR fault!Make shift kennels in our back yard - LOL! Our facility is located on and acre and a half. In order to get a kennel license one must go through three county agencies. Once a kennel license is issued we are subject to annual inspections as well as on spot inspections. If anyone believes animal control would allow "make shift kennels in our back yard" you have never dealt with animal control. We don't take it personally. We're here for the dogs and the adopters who DO get it! We work very hard and have all the confidence in the world we are a good, responsible rescue. If reading any of these negative comments makes you doubt us, give us a call, we're happy to speak to you directly. If you choose to believe everything you read, that's fine too.us directly because anyone can post anything about anyone but the work we do speaks for itself.Warm Wags,SheilahPROUD Founder, DirectorMutt Match LA

WONDERFUL DOG RESCUE!!! The mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many dogs as possible. It is sacred and challenging work. Sheilah has been fighting this good fight on her own in the desert for two decades. Every day she is a warrior fighting for the lives of at least 50 dogs. She even homes dogs that are deemed unadoptable for behavioral reasons. Sheilah's heart is enormous and the work this dog rescue does is immeasurably important. Adoption is a slow process, but completely worth the wait. Please be patient. Sheilah aims to create the right match. She's a real yenta when it comes to dogs and people. Here are the awesome, hilarious dogs we adopted this year.

We recently adopted a beautiful dog from Mutt Match LA. We’ve never adopted via a rescue before. We’ve always gone to the pound. We will definitely recommend adopting from Mutt Match instead. We applied, once we were contacted, we made an appointment to visit the animal we were interested in. The owner was prompt, professional, knowledgeable and kind. We had to have a home check which is great. After a few recommendations and upgrades to our yard, the application was approved and our new family member arrived and is now thriving in her new environment. The animal is healthy, happy and a great dog who gets along with our other animals. We highly recommend Mutt Match LA for your future family member. A very nice experience.

Sheila is unbelievably unprofessional & disrespectful, it was such a strange experience. We went through a couple weeks of the process, started with a meet and greet one day, then the home check the following week, understood...she was about 2 1/2 hours late to the home check. After the home check she decided it would only be a 2 week trial with the dog, I wasn't a fan of that. Otherwise we would sign up to be a foster, right? The process was completely on her terms with strings attached, and all she did was talk down to us. We ended the process with an argument over the phone because I asked her to stop talking to me that way. The argument went on, and I backed out of the adoption(or whatever it was) I would still recommend this rescue to save the dogs obviously, if you can deal with Sheila...hats off to you. You'll see, she'll probably argue against this review as well. I hope the dogs find forever homes and I hope Sheila comes across a good hard life lesson about being a kind human being.
