I really hate writing a negative review but the sales rep was really such a j**** This happened like 6months ago and I'm still shocked at how he acted. We had a house fire and had to replace everything and got all of our appliances through this store as our contractor recommended . Our Sharp drawer microwave stopped working just after two years - just out of warranty. BID was not helpful at all but there was a really nice repair guy near Costco that basically said its not worth repairing and to just buy a new one. That sucks since we thought spending more would get a better product but what else are we going to do. We went into the store and I explained the situation to the sales rep and basically just said that I didn't want to get the same microwave because it broke after only 2years. I wasn't accusatory and I asked my husband after, I really don't think I did anything to trigger this guy. He basically said that the same microwave was really the best option and then full on ridiculed me for wanting to get a different one. Like full on calling me an idiot with out actually calling me an idiot. Like the effort he put into this performance was pretty epic. Maybe he was just having a bad day but there was some interpretive dance happening. The 3 year old refrigerator we got from them has also had repair people out 6 times which I didn't mention at all. So far the other appliances seem ok. The washer is leaking but I'm kind of ignoring that for now. This is supposed to be a high end appliance store but I've had better luck with Home Depot and Best Buy.

Worst customer service experience ever! Lazy, disinterested employees sitting around doing nothing. If you can entice one of them to help you, their knowledge is limited and it is clear that they are all wishing that they did not have to work here. After waiting weeks for someone to get back to me so I could spend 10K with them (easy sale), I decided to go over the hill to Airport Appliance. They took care of my order immediately.The only way I would ever go back into a Built-In Distributors location would be to show my children what their future could look like if they fail to get an education.

This establishment uses unlicensed installers who do not properly install gas stoves. My previous stove had an electrical connection. When the new stove was installed, the electrical plug was put in the above counter outlet allowing the unfinished wall to be visible behind the new stove. This is totally unacceptable. When I called BID to complain the person answering the phone said I needed to call an electrician. If the old stove was electrically connected behind the stove, why couldn't the new stove be electrically connected the same wayThe next day PG&E came to verify the safety of the installation. It was safe but looked bad. Also turns out there was an outlet behind the stove. Looks like the installer was too lazy to plug the stove into the appropriate outlet. Also th PG&E rep. said the installer should have replaced the gas flex line as they are more flexible when new. That would have allowed the stove to be flush with the wall. As I said, it looks bad and I still have to call someone to replace the flex line. A bad experience.

I really wanted to buy our appliances Local and support Santa Cruz businesses. So, I went to B.I.D. Distributors and Sean helped me select an ASKO stackable Washer & Dryer for our laundry room which had some space constraints. The washer had water leak issues, but Sean worked with the manufacturer and installer to get a new machine and make everything right. He really went over-and-above and the customer service experience was outstanding. I highly recommend Sean and B.I.D. distributors!! Thanks so much, --Sue

I had the same experience that many others seem to have had. They are very helpful until your order is placed and then you get no customer service at all.I wouldn't purchase from them again after my experiences.My first purchase was placed and once it arrived, they called to let me know. I didn't need the appliances yet because my house was still under construction. I told them I can pick them up anyways as I have a place to store them in the meantime. They told me it was no problem, and they could store them in their warehouse until I needed them. When I called and said I needed them, they tried to tell me they had never arrived even though they clearly had to have sold them to someone else. It took another 6 months to receive all the appliances again because of backorder issues, which is why I ordered early in the first place.After the first issue I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a microwave from them. Before I ordered it, I asked when it would arrive and they told me it would be 1 week. Once my order was placed I couldn't get anyone to respond to me for a week, then when I finally heard back I was told it was estimated to arrive in another month. I ended up getting it about 3 months later.Overall just poor customer service, and it seems they tell you what you want to hear before you order then give you totally different information once they've collected your money with no explanation.

You know that bit where you measure your kitchen and try to figure out what will fit and go slowly mad? Avoid all of that and go to BID! They looked at the figures and recommended appliances which we have just had installed, couldn't be more delighted with the fit. It was cheaper than buying the same appliances online.

We were looking for a refrigerator and decided to shop at BID as they do have some very nice appliances. We were helped by the Darren and Bob! We decide on a model and ordered it. When the paperwork was written up, they said they didn’t do installation of the water line and we told them that that was not a problem as we (my husband) would do it himself. We just needed it delivered and the old one taken away. Not one time did either of them mention the cost of delivery. We just figured there would be one as most places charge for that. I had to call to check on the status of our order as they had said it would take two and 1/2 weeks for it to arrive. It just happened that when I called our refrigerator had arrived. Darren gave me the number for the person who would deliver the fridge. You would think that they would have set that up themselves, right? Nope, I had to call the delivery person myself. When we made contact, he said he would deliver the refrigerator. Perfect!They delivered the fridge and installed the waterline which we didn’t realize they were going to do that because my husband was going to to that himself!We were NOT aware that it would cost us an extra $225 for the installation of the water. We paid them, as they did do a great job with the setting up and clean up (he even cleaned my floor and walls) where the fridge was going to be placed!We checked our invoice and all it had written on it was “needs installer”.I called them to voice my complaint in regards to the cost and Darren said he had written it on my invoice. I told him that no there was no mention of what the cost would be. He said that if “we”, meaning BID, had made the delivery, the fee would be $89. He never once mentioned that to us. We would have gladly paid the $89 compared to the $225.I was going to also buy a convection/microwave from them, but I am not a happy camper!! Shame on them!

I was desperate to buy local, and when I saw this store again, and saw all the one stars, I recalled how I was treated long ago. I stood around and no one would help me, I look like a hippie, then when they did it was a sour puss attitude and I left disgusted. I was shopping at Bakers Brothers in Watsonville. But every time I go there, I see Michael Lindell the nut job pillow guy and it turns me off. So now I am trying to shop at the least harmful shop possible. I really like to support my community by buying local, but I may have to go to Costco or Lowes whose CEO if 1 of only four Black CEO in Fortune 500 companies and they give back to community allot, and Home Depot loves tRump and the riot, vowed to not give but did a turnabout in a nano second. I will not give one penny to anyone who supports tRump and ilk. You vote also with your money. It is amazing with all the one stars that they are still floating, at some point they will sink, they have more one stars then anything else. Buy at your own risk. And if you like negative sour faces by all means do shop there.

Best in class vendor for appliances for decades. We always buy appliances for our primary home and all our rentals for decades from BID in Santa Cruz. They keep all our records on their computer. Our KitcheAid gas cooktop failed. I called them in distress. They found our purchase. The model is discontinued. They searched and found a replacement. They also referred me to the best parts store in town. We are thankful to their continued support.

Only option 1 star.I give them 0 STARS!.Horrible experience.Was told my trash compactor would arrive in 4 days which I questioned after purchasing from a very rude salesman.Was told to expect a call from delivery person on Thursday, no call no trash compactor Friday.Called 5 or 6 times Friday to inquire and could not talk to anyone, left messages with no return phone call.I used this local store BECAUSE just that it was local.Never AGAIN.Besides rude, dismissive salesman, no show on a promised delivery and no ability to contact and NO return phone call.Do NOT shop here!!!..

I ordered a Miele built in coffee maker on the first part on January and l left a $1,000 deposit. Two months later they tell me they can't get it, but I can get it on-line. For two months they didn't follow up on this order, kept the deposit and now say get it on- lineVery bad customer service!!!!
