The staff really make the spot. They clearly care about the job which speaks volumes to the quality of the restaurant. This is one of the hidden gems of Santa Cruz as far as high quality food, but expect to pay accordingly. Staff is there every day prepping even in their days closed and they receive fresh local ingredient deliveries daily.

The chef accommodated my request for a gluten free pasta dish and it was very tasty. The lasagna special and the fish in parchment were delicious. Crab salad was quite yummy. We felt however that the wines by the glass were very pricey and they did not offer a Chardonnay.

La Posta exemplifies everything you could want in a destination/neighborhood Restraunt . Using seasonal local ingredients (not lip service like so many Restaurants claim) thoughtfully prepared and served in a warm inviting space.

La Posta is and has been my favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz for several years now. In my humble opinion, there just isn't another restaurant that can compete in terms of originality freshness, great service, and sheer delight. I confess that I probably eat there at least once a week. Yesterday, I had a fabulous chicken liver appetizer with caramelized onions and tiny delectable edibles mixed in to the pate. And then, my favorite fresh lettuce salad, plenty for two people, the mushroom lasagnette ( I can still taste the subtlety of the sauce, the delightful mushrooms), again, plenty for two people. And, of course, decaf and dessert... And trust me when I say that every dessert on the menu is exquisite. Service is always perfect. Servers never hover but they pay attention and are all informative, friendly, sweet. If this gem ever closes, I may have to move to SF.

La Posta is our favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz. The food is so creative and always delicious, great wine list and at varying price points, the staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable about food and wine. The owner Patrice is always warm and welcoming.

I dined with La Posta earlier this month, and the food, though incorrect, was delicious. My server (a tall mustached man) got my order all wrong. And on top of that, he brought my entree out before my appetizer when I clearly said I wanted my appetizer first. Only giving this place a few stars because the food was, as I said, very good.

We eat here all the time when guests are visiting from out of town. The service, the food, the ambience is always top-notch. I really don't think there's a better restaurant in Santa Cruz County. Last night for the first time we sat outside under the heat lamps. It was a very cold night, but we were perfectly warm and having the open sky with stars above us was picture perfect.

I love La Posta. Food is always prepared beautifully, and the staff is friendly and attentive no matter how busy. My only objection is the noise level makes it very difficult to have a nice quiet conversation. (At least it doesn't have music blaring out). It's a small very open space, and somehow the room needs to be broken up. I've heard there is some kind of paneling or something that can be added that absorbs sounds.

Once again, La Posta comes through with a fantastic dining experience. Quiet enough to hold a conversation. Food was great. My only criticism is that the bread, once free, now costs $$. I don't mind paying for bread, but they should be a little bit more generous with it. Their bread is the best.

We took visitors from Berkeley with us to dinner. One person had scallops, my husband and I had fresh pasta dishes, and our other friend had the special (a house-made sausage dish). We all enjoyed our dinners tremendously. Our visiting friends said it was a lovely setting and delightful Italian dishes (much better than they have had in Berkeley recently). The staff were attentive, friendly, and thoughtful, checking in with us at the right times and yet not overly so. Wine recommendations were perfect.

La Posta is my favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz and one of my very favorites in the entire Bay area. I've been going to this restaurant for years and it never disappoints. They use the freshest ingredients to make the most beautiful, delightful and innovative dishes. And the service is always impeccable. I actually got something to go on Wednesday and then went in with a friend the very next day, so I got to try several dishes including a fabulous crab chitarra, the amazing squash and spinach pizza, a special appetizer, and their special dessert. I LOVE La Posta❣️

Love love this little neighborhood restaurant! Love that the menu changes often which keeps us coming back to try new things! The food is always so fresh and their seafood dishes are always perfectly cooked. It's a wonderful date night that's not too fussy or trendy, just a really good meal and great wine!
