12/30/23 comments: I brought my son for blood draw this morning (12/30/23 at 10:30am PST at the Soquel Ave, Dominican Hospital branch), and had an extremely alarming experience. Ginger, the technician was irritated by my son's odd behavior (my son has autism). She started the normal blood draw process by inputting data in the computer system. I asked if she can indicate a note in the system to share the blood draw data with my son's pediatrician since the blood lab work was ordered by my son's specialist. She scolded me and belittled me that I should have asked her before she began the paperwork and told me that I will need to call Quest to get that request put in. Then without notification, she walked out and started talking to another technician and informed me another technician would take my son's blood draw. I asked Ginger if my son's odd behavior was bothering her and that's why she was irritated with us. She started being argumentative. Meanwhile, the other technician Alexis prepared to begin the blood draw (at Ginger's working area). I asked that if they were following the blood draw protocol process because it was odd that another technician would come in and followed Ginger's verbal instruction for blood draw without checking the labels. I, as the mother of the patient asked Alexis to verify the label ID again just to make sure no mistakes were made during this unusual transition. Alexis was great and tried to calm down my son during this unusual confrontational and stressful situation. In summary, I suggest technicians work in the medical industry should not be discriminative against patients with disability and being argumentative. This was an extremely alarming experience where I highly recommend Quest to better train technicians with more empathy, treating all individuals equally without discrimination, and follow the blood draw process protocol.

I have to take an uber an hour ahead to make sure i don't arrive even five minutes late because then they either tell you to go or say wait until closing and maybe they will take you. If you are ubering they hate getting in Soquel traffic and will no show so in that case they can charge you. i had to drink a lot of water to make sure i was hydrated and could pee. So i sit in there waiting . i had to pee so bad i didn't think i could hold it. Once the tech opened the door to admit someone, i begged her to let me use the restroom. NO absolutely not. She again was extremely rude. there are no restrooms to use elsewhere. The reason i went to this quest because i tried the Eastside one and my experience was terrible. i got in and told the tech who said she was manager, that techs always use a butter fly needle. She was awful, she said, patients don't get to chose what needle i use i do! And i'm not going to use one. Bragged she was very skilled. Many many skilled techs and drs have had trouble hitting my vein in the past. I told her in that case i'd go elsewhere. So made appt and i went to Soquel lab. Soquel quest use the butterfly needle no problem with that. I requested a copy of my labs could be sent to me also since i need a copy in hand for phone appointment with my doctor. Long list of items on labs. Rudely no way. i offered to give the 5 dollars or what every they asked to send me a copy since its a big waste of time of my appt having doctor read all the values off. i'd like to find a different than Quest to use. i cannot recommend them. No reason for them to treat clients so rudely.

I have a test that only some Quest Labs can perform, and I just spent 30 min. trying to get a live person on the phone to let me know if this lab can perform it. When I finally got a live person, he said he could not help me and I needed to call a number I'd already tried 5 times without any option to reach a live person. Unbelievable. I am going to have to go in to the office to find out, and based on other reviews, I don't anticipate that being an easy way to get an answer quickly either.

I arrived at 3pm to have blood drawn. No human, no window, no front office staff. You walk in and have to self check in at a kiosk. No staff member in sight.I checked in as a walk in, then because the waiting was full I sat outside in the lobby. At 3:10 I went back into the waiting room thinking I would be called back soon. I didn't see my name on the monitor showing the same in the que so I went through the check in process again.A staff member came out to announce no walk-ins would be taken and they were closing.I told her I was there for over 40 min. She argued that she didn't see me in the waiting room. Of course not, because I was sitting right outside the door.I wasted all that time for nothing. This is such a poor way to do business. Had I had a human staff member check me in this would have been handled much differently. Give someone a job and bring back front office staff. This is ridiculous.

Aloha,OMG, just the most hurtful treatment from both dark haired women tech & Alexis yesterday, October 26th. After I could not sign in for appoint I made online, & had been waiting in my car for at least a 1/2 hr before appointment; I then knocked at inside door to back rooms, finally a definitely grumpy dark haired face masked women opens door with stink eye & attitude like how dare anyone knock on our door... I believe she said what did I need? I said I could not sign in & needed help to figure things out. She asked my name, said I was not on list. I said but I did sign up online for 2:15 pm. She said I must of signed on wrong location so I can only sign up now & wait till they can take me, cutting me off when I started to speak, raised her voice that waiting is only option then of course I raised my voice to be heard hoping for some empathy but got none, Alexis came in after only a little more cross talk. She immediately harped on meFor raising my voice & I then started to lower my voice, explain my side when behind Alexis my eyes were averted to dark haired tech taking patient behind inside door but stopping to be nosey and let her & patient hear our conversation. That set me off, how dare she eavse drop on our private, personal conversation & let her patient listen also after I had told Alexis & her I no longer ever wanted to deal with her again. It was humiliating & so wrong which I stated loudly all above, Alexis interrupted me saying I had no right raising my voice to tech, no matter what she was doing behind Alexis' back causing my upset. I tried to say a bit more when, Alexis cold stopped me & said that is it, I had to leave. It did not matter what that tech was doing I had to leave. I was not given chance to say anything else that was pertinent about my PTSD/Anxiety I had told her & other one in past about nor other pertinent things because she only loudly told me to leave over & over. I left in tears. Worst thing is I have no other place I can go, my doctor's group cannot let us go to any other lab group in SC. My specialist docs in other groups can but not my main docs group. Quest, please get better trained lab techs who are kind, caring, & empathetic! This is 2nd time dark haired tech caused my anxiety not good for my health dealing with 2 diseases.Mahalo ?

Waited 30 minutes. Wait list patient taken before me, clearly a friend of the phlebotomist. I have a terrible bruise on my arm. I've never had a blood draw actually hurt so much. Never coming here again. This is not normal.

I had an appointment today at Quest as scheduled but when I entered the machine that scans that QR was not operational. I spoke to the employee and was told that if I dont scan the code then I would lose my scheduled appointment and could only be seen as a walk in. The machine was still not working so the employee took my phone number and advised that I would be seen as a walk-in. After hours of waiting and multiple individuals were seen, the female employee kept me waiting and I was never seen. This is the worst service I have ever received at any Quest and their employees should be trained on how to provide quality customer service.

Well, I guess I’ve been extremely lucky at this location. My wait times are usually less than 5 minutes. I have to come in 3-4 times a year (my worst nightmare as I am a scaredy ?when it comes to needles).Every time, the ?♀️?♀️have been nice, they chat with me to distract & keep me from fleeing the room.I’m always able to get an on-line appointment, but it’s planned ahead so I don’t know about walk-in issues…

We went to this location but had made an error in scheduling which meant would have to wait an extra hour. But after about 10-15 minutes, a technician came out and said she could help us. We had a long, complicated set of tests to do but she was super positive and super helpful. The phlebotomist name was Alexis and she was just amazing. I didn't even feel the stick she did and was able to get all the blood with no problems. Based on this experience, I would highly recommend this location.

Quest Diagnostics 1595 Soquel Drive, Suite 100, next to Dominican Hospital Appt: 1:30 pm on Thursday I arrived a few minutes late and checked in on my phone. There were two people waiting in the lobby, and I patiently waited my turn. When they called my name, the lab tech took me into her cubicle and immediately snapped at me that technically I missed my appointment. Her behavior was very rude. She told me that if anyone is a little late, she can dismiss the appointment. I told her that I had been at Urgent Care, and showed her my paperwork. You know that you don't control the timing when you visit Urgent Care. Then she could not find my lab paperwork. I told her that it had been sent on Monday, 9/11/23. She never found the paperwork, so I left. I think the lab tech needs more customer service training.

The online scheduler worked great for me. I was able to schedule a Saturday appt on the Tuesday before. I received a text to check in when I arrived and that also worked great for me. The lab tech was awesome, she was very kind, professional, positive, patient and excellent at her job. She got the blood draw done quickly and painlessly. I forgot my insurance card and she waited while I called and got the number. She went above and beyond to make this process easy. Thanks Quest!

I have been in the medical industry for over 15 years as a patient and I have experienced countless blood draws over the years from different labs. Quest Diagnostics at 1595 Soquel has some of the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. My phlebotomist tried to blame me for not preparing for myself for labs to their standard of which they made no effort to alert or educate me to prior to showing up for my appointment. There are so many missed opportunities in the scheduling process to eliminate this this kind of issue. I have also routinely had these same labs done at other facilities where none of the issues brought up at my appointment were an issue before. If you don’t care about how you are treated as patient or as a person, I will say that my physical blood draw was painless and quick. If you are someone who would like to be treated with decency and respect, find somewhere else.

I had a good experience. Karen helped me today and she did an amazing job drawing my blood. I discovered we are both bilingual. She kept me distracted because i told her im sensitive to the idea of seeing blood, and it didn’t hurt at all.

Actually this is Nicole Allen leaving a review for lupita who is now at the quest next to Dominican hospital. She is the greatest. I am almost impossible to get a sample from but she has gotten me every time. I wasn’t even prepared yesterday but thought if they are taking walk-in s what the heck….she got 4 vials no problem! No waiting no appointment no pain no problems! Lupita is the best! Thank you Nicole!
