We have rented several cars from the SM Airport location and always had a good experience. Cars are always ready when we get there. Free parking at the airport is convenient. Their prices are reasonable and they have a good selection and variety of cars.

Takes a lot for me to go out of my way and write a review, but Jaime Arnold is not good for Budget’s business. Watched the customer before me being treated poorly, practically berated. Then when it was my turn, and I received the same service, I cancelled my online reservation in front of his face and walked to the next window at Avis where I was treated better. Hope he, or management, sees these reviews about his terrible service and corrects that behavior.

Very disappointed with the way staff here managed reservations. We made reservations online, went to pick up vehicle and there was one guy named Jaime Arnold who literally looks like the Willy Wonka dude. He stood there and didn’t even acknowledge us. I greeted him and let him know I had a reservation and instead of looking it up, he said “nope we do not have a reservation for you” I continue to explain that I had a reservation number provided by him and email confirmation and he insisted he didn’t have anything on file. At this point, frustrated I asked him for his name and showed him the email and number he provided a week prior when I did the reservation and all of a sudden he was able to find my reservation number and name. He was extremely rude! Has no customer service expertise, failed to provide a detailed explanation of our rental and return policy. I am from out of state and will never be using this Budget location again. Shame on you Jaime, not sure if you were having a bad day or thats just you but If I were the owner I would not continue to have you in that position.

I’d give negative stars if possible. Older lady working up front was no help, looked like she was angry cuz she missed an episode of the golden girls. Get with it Budget, hire people who are willing to go out of their way for their customers. Absolute garbage

I rented the car online from budget a couple weeks in advance and paid for the rental. Upon arrival at the arranged time, the car had not been cleaned, was out of gas, the interior windows had a blue film from Marijuana I'm guessing from the odor and the front tires were low on air. The attendant wanted us to wait while they took the car off property to remedy the situation. I told him I could stop at the gas station and put air in the tires since it was out of gas anyway. Other than that, it was a smooth transaction.

Really bad attitude!!!!! and customer service coming from the lady that works there. She charged me for 1 hour of rental because I was 29 minutes late, plus one day extra of insurance for the same reason, she told even if I was 15 minutes late she will charge the same. Well I found out that Budget has a 29 minute grace period to returned the rentals, I called Budget customer service and explained the situation, they apologized and reimburse me the extra hour and day of insurance that the lady of the location charged me for. Stay away from this location, that person has a bad attitude and she will charge more.

*NOT A MILITARY FRIENDLY BUSINESS*California law (California Vehicle code section 12817(b)) states that active duty service members and their spouses do not have to renew their licenses until 30 days after separation from the armed forces. We are visiting from VA and need a rental car. Not only was the car not ready when we came to pick it up, we were also denied the vehicle all together. My husbands drivers license falls into the above category. We presented the woman working with the law, and she still denied us our rental. She called the DMV to ask for “validation” (her words), and only stated that my husband was not in the military (i am) and his license was expired. She then told us that we could not have our rental. We asked for her corporate number and instead of providing us with that she gave us the regular customer service line. Do not go here if you want to have a reliable rental and be treated with any amount of respect.

Horrible customer service. Tried to overcharge me. That issue was resolved quickly which i appreciate. When i called to get my receipt sent again because the first one wasn't working. Was talked to and treated horribly. me: "thank you very much". Then she hangs up on me. I called back to ask her why she was being rude. She hung up on me again. I wish i could give less than one star. Currently in the process of making a formal complaint. Customer service is dead at this place. Whichever lady was working the morning of feb 2 just after 8 am needs to be held accountable for the way she treats paying customers. I will be sure to never use budget again because of this one rude lady. If you're in santa maria, use another vendor. I will be pursuing this wirth corporate, very disappointed.

If I could rate zero I absolutely would!!! I've given this place several different chances to get things right. I was hoping maybe this lady was having a bad day(I think her name is Silvia) Unfortunately, NO this is just how she operates. Every time my company reserves a car here for some reason she ends up asking me all the same questions that have been filed out and taken care of online . She always ask me where I am taking the car? No other rental place does that! when I rent from Avis I never have any issues with this. All I do is provide my name and he hands me the keys with no issues whatsoever! With Budget I showed up to pick my car up at 8am as scheduled on my reservation. Sylvia tells me she has No clean cars and tells me if I have time to wait. If I had time to wait I would have made reservations at a later time. No I had No time to wait. Then she ask me if I want to take the car dirty as is!! WTF!! In Covid times ! You gotta be kidding me! Knowing I already disinfect the cars myself EVERYTIME I rent one and I'm crunched for time , I just said yes! Then she proceeds to take her sweet time getting me a car . Her demeanor is very unprofessional , full of eye rolling , huffing and puffing as if the unclean cars are my fault! I will be forwarding this to corporate and complaining since this isn't the first time. I will also ensure our company no longer uses their services due to the multiple inconveniences. Please do better!

Hit the road jack"One star is too good for the way I was treated at this location. Apparently the car reeked of cigarettes and either no other car was available, or they could care less if we were held back roughly an hour while the car was being washed or something? I know this was the case as she blamed the hold up on not having a car washer last night!" Sorry" is right Lydia with no last name to give up shrugged at my concerns, reluctantly gave up a laughable 10 bucks toward my inconvenience only after being pressed to understand my situation, which she could obviously care less, wouldn't give up supervisors info, allow me the use of a pen, calling me ridiculous and threatening to call security! Mostly bad reviews for reason. I would say lydia is that main reason. Thanks lydia for ruining my trip and wasting my time. And this was through a Costco recommendation! Lydia is living proof that cheaper is not better. I'll be informing Costco of my treatment as well. Stay away guys, far away. I'd still probably be waiting for them to pull up the rental.

If this app allowed me to zero star that would be my rating! Honestly haven't ever been upset with any car rental places but let me just tell you the name budget is a lie everything down to the cars and customer service ! first I called to verify that my card will be charged the 250 pending until returning the car my card would be charged $105 and then again verified when picking up the vehicle, also was told the car is not smelly that it was just checked ? I just wish I didn't have to drive in a stinky car across state with my 2 year old .. see then when returning it was told I will be chargerd over 200$ because of underage fees ? This place really should train they're employees and go over every fee that would be charged or really just be shut down. They should not be in Business !!

Beware! Scam!!! I rented car and I returned car in time office was closed no any instructions. I left car at budget parking lot and one week later I was charged $500 and I called they told me I returned car one week later. And then they just hung up on my every time I called. Terrible customer service. Stay away!
