I had the worst experience with this shelter after I adopted our little one. I was told to return on that Saturday for a teeth cleaning that our fur baby needed and was even given instructions on what to do before the appointment. I emailed the clinic the next day to confirm the appointment a few days before, as I live 40 minutes away. The clinic had emailed me back stating that they don't have any appointments for her. I then called the shelter and the staff member once again stated that in the dogs chart it did state a teeth cleaning was scheduled however she will need to return my call for verification. I received a call from Aubrey the manager within the shelter stating that there was a miscommunication. In her chart it stated she did need a cleaning and they would of gone ahead and got it done but only if she was still in their care. She then proceeded to rudely say, "Do you want to return her? Either way she'll be adopted with or without a cleaning". Moreover, I asked whether she was part of the Santa Barbara County Shelter as I've never been treated in such a disrespectful manner. When asked this question, she said "Well, we are in Santa Barbara County" completely ignoring the fact I was inquiring about their connection to the County shelters. Being a first time pet owner and first time adoption parent, I thought this experience overall would have been wonderful and fulfilling. I love our new pet and love that she has been given a new home; however, it is still very frustrating to have to deal with this experience, especially given this negatively affects our pet's dental health. I'd also like to add this review in no way pertains to the services provided at the clinic. They've been really helpful in answering my questions and following up with me. A completely different experience than what I've endured with the shelter.

WORST clinic on the entire CA coast. Invisible 2 staff. I was asked to come back and hold my GOLDEN RETRIEVERS because were "aggressive" WHAT? barking (not growling) problematic? Forced me to hold my dogs down, she clearly messed up on admin a shot, she twisted it In my dog twice b4 dropping it.INCOMPETENT. Biggest regret coming to this chop shop. If you love your animals GO ANYWHERE ELSE. Sincerely RN

It's a great organization. The animals are well taken care of, they do their utmost to socialize the animals which makes them more adoptable. You are sure to find your canine or feline soulmate here!

So professional, and they actually return phone calls! Love the set-up to adopt a pet, and we got an appointment the next day. Caring staff let us interact with the kitties, which are not in cages but in playrooms. We picked one off the web site but decided on Lizzy based on her sassy personality. Wonderful experience, highly recommend!!

Bad attitude and unorganized. First they patronize and lecture people for being 10 minutes late. I would understand them charging a late or cancelation fee, but there is not need to be rude with the public. Santa Maria deserves respect just like any other community. After giving me a hard time they say they can't give my dog his vaccine yet. I sent them his age and vaccination records when I made the appt and they agreed. It would have been nice for them to determine if they could give the dog the vaccine before accepting an appointment. The vibe I got is that they ate very busy. I understand working with the public is not east and that they provide a very important service. However, that does not give an excuse to provide poor service to "some" people.

Was there to have my two dogs vaccinated and their nails cut. They couldn't cut their nails because they were short staff

Miracle workers is how I feel about this clinic. I brought my 5 year old pit in with a stomach problem, he was refusing to eat and was vomiting any water he would drink he was very weak when I brought him in and our family was very worried. I was referred to them by Care 4 Paws. The doctor talked to me personally and asked me what was going on and they took him in on short notice and really helped me out. The doctor was comforting and gave me full details on what our options would be and really felt like she cared for my dog. The techs also showed so much care and compassion for him. I cannot stress how well my dog was looked after while in there care. I am so grateful the doctor was able to perform an emergency surgery and see my dog do so much better after. He is still recovering but he is happy and not in pain when we first brought him in. Thank you Santa Maria Humane for all you did for RENGO and for all you continue to do for other pets. You are a Godsend.

One star for the lady I spoke to that set up my appointment today. I would have come in earlier but she gave me an afternoon appointment and when I was almost there I get a call that the dog is being adopted. I came from Santa Barbara. Not only that but she was condescending when I called back (had to try five more times to get her on the phone). I asked if there were other small dogs that maybe weren't put on the website that I could come check out and she said "do you see any?" after a long pause. I literally had to say "hello?" As someone who has repeatedly experienced similar setbacks from the shelters in Santa Barbara as well as Santa Maria, I'm probably going with a private adoption.

Beyond thrilled & Happy with the job they did on my dogs teeth. I have had her for 6 years or so & she needed her teeth badly done since the day I got her they did an amazing job. It was affordable & the techs and workers were very nice & helpful, my dog recovered smoothly. I am so so so happy I was able to get this done finally and that now my dogs mouth doesn't hurt anymore. Thank you so much to them

I took my dog to get spayed yesterday. When I dropped her off the staff was really rude. When I picked her up it was even worse. They didn't tell me anything about after treatment and just gave me a flier for a 24 hour emergency clinic "in case anything happens". I really did not like seeing the staff hand people their animals and just turned around without saying a word. It definitely made me feel like my dog (and others) could be mistreated while being seen. When getting home I looked at her dissolvable adhesive suture, and it looks just extremely weird and abnormal to me... I'm worried that this will cause infection. And after reading other reviews saying how the business refused take responsibility upsets me. Good thing I have lawyers....

This is a wonderful place. We have adopted four cats from here. The staff are obviously very committed to the welfare of the animals. They know the animals individually and can help guide you to a good match. If you were thinking about getting a cat or a dog, please consider coming here to see the wonderful animals looking for a home.

Worst ever their clinic sucks I know they have a good cause at great motive but two and half hours sitting outside for their clinic on the ground a waste of time And they don't offer any water for the people sitting outside wast of time And these guys are really slow and sad thing is I used to volunteer here at last year and they were a lot faster in Thanks just poke my head in to see what's going on and Love they're just sitting and talking and laughing and doing anything voice that time and money I hate to a manner but I hope I never have to come here unless they pull their heads out the clouds
