Came here for the American cinémathèque event and watched the amazing My Man Godfrey on a 35mm,the theater is kinda old but still can hold some audience, only complaints are the loud chewing and the pop corn massacre in the seats behind me, but I guess the theater have nothing to do with that.

I see most of my movies here, and they always feel like a special occasion. Surprise guests, filmmaker-focused, people who appreciate movies and creating conversations. I've seen some fantastic filmmakers giving talks here. A lot of classics and retrospectives. Usually an MC introduces the movie and pitches membership. The cool movie snobs! Not conceited, the theater is minimal, old-school, and just uncomfortable enough to inspire nostalgia. Definitely go see a movie here!

Cute little single screen theatre. Run by the American Cinematheque, the picture and sound are always first rate. Concessions are pretty good with hit popcorn and cold drinks, and they're reasonably priced. Programming selection is also great with popular movies with actor and directors on hand, to 70mm festivals every now and then.

Classic theater restored with great sound and a nice pic. The theaters seats are the old school style, but they really clean the theater and its spotless. Mostly shows classic cinema, retrospectives, and indie films.

Love this theater! They always seem to have free screenings and double features and Q&A's with great directors and actors. I've seen Sean Penn, James L. Brooks (last weekend), Helen Hunt, director Tim Hunter, an all day 80's horror fest with 6 movies (could only handle 4; saw director Amy Holden Jones and 80's icon Kelli Maroney) for $20 and The Three Colors Trilogy (Blue, White, Red) there for $15. The staff is fine, the seats are fine, bathroom small but clean. Someone said the screen is too small?? Um, just sit closer lol. The screen is fantastic and the sound is Top 7 in LA. When I go, I go early and sit front left. On the aisle. If you come late and want to sit in the middle it's probably difficult. Same with parking. NEVER had a problem after 6pm - plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. Before 6 am? The signs are tricky, but I found parking on 14th street less than 1/2 mile away. I drove around less than 5 minutes and was willing to walk - no big deal. American Cinematheque said they show 1500 movies here per year? That's amazing. This place caters to the cinephile and film nerd. Only issue is that sometimes the old 35mm prints are terrible. James L. Brooks even joked about how bad Terms of Endearment was; but hey, it was free and on the big screen!

A classic single auditorium theatre! Sound is good and the seats are okay for being an old theatre.

Doesn't matter if you have a ticket, they just fill up the seats with their friends and then tell you you can get in. But they only do that after making you wait in line for an hour. Scam theater.

Quick beats:1) no icees LAME, popcorn is pre-popped2) quirky staff, not a positive or negative3) screen is outdated and small4) seats are uncomfortable and cramped5) sound is good6) they show quality films, which is the biggest draw7) attracts the type of crowd that likes to "participate" in the movie. hard to explain this unless you go and see what I'm saying, but sometimes it feels like people are trying to hard to find opportunities to audibly react (laugh, gasp, etc)8) parking sucks
