Our account blocked after depositing $5000- we went to 5 citbank branches and each one said different . Supers also told us different reasons for the block. I called isidri , supervisor, santa monica branch, to set me up with appointment for manager. Isisri never called me back. It appears many citi bank employees are incompetent or just do not care about excellent customer satisfaction. Must be time to change to a more reliable bank with excellent customer experience. *****UPDATE******UPDATE*****UPDATE**** I opened a new account online, made a large deposit by check at the Santa Monica Downtown Branch, my account was frozen within 24 hours. The following staff members: Anwesha Das (branch manager), Shadab Barani (personal banker), Joshua Klein (teller) & Idris Pettway-pitts (personal banker) went above and beyond to correct the situation by authenticating both my identity and check deposit. I was often irate and stressed over the lack of access to my money but each of the above listed employees took time to explain and reestablish my trust in CitiBank. I am very thankful for the excellent professionalism displayed by The Santa Monica Downtown Branch WORST BANK EVER!!!!!!!! I opened a new account on 7/5/2022. I deposited a large check on 7/15/2023 a government court house issued check. I woke up the very next day to text alerts informing me my debit card transactions was being declined. I called in at 8:02am and was told my account had been blocked. I was then placed on hold from 8:05am until 10:05am then a representative from Citi fraud department by the name of Marie told me my account was closed due to a fraudulent check. She was referring to the large government issued check I deposited the previous day less than 24 hours. She could not provide me with any information and refused to connect me with a supervisor. After I asked her several questions, I could no longer hear her clearly over the phone at which point she disconnected the call after I had been on the phone for 2 hours 13 minutes and 45 seconds. I am beyond perturbed!!!! To be continued

PLEASE NOTE:. Very important! If you are a tall black man, asking to receive your own money, which you own in your account.,. Do not expect to receive it. I have a lot of money in the account and with the proper ID and information they refused to give me my money. While sitting in the bank managers office, another man, sitting in the lobby, frustrated yelling, " I want my money." There is something seriously wrong with this bank. I pay rent for an elderly couple, and they will not release my rightfully owned funds. This is serious! I'm trying to get it out still, going on for several months to go to another bank. They give you the turnaround and naturally frustration levels rise and still. There has to be some recourse. Don't make my mistake go anywhere else!!!

No a good service and the "Manager" is a perfect example on How NO to manage a business. I went with a question about what products Citi has with the highest interest rate to open an account. Well after several questions from Him to me, I didn't get an straight answer. I was lectured by a manager that had more interest in pushing a product than to answer my question. Conclusion, that was not the bank I wanted to do business with. I left.

The worst experience!!! Came in re business account, was told there was a 45 min wait. Came back and was told that they don't actually have a business banker on site and to leave my contact info. Wtf? Really needed to get this taken care of today. The worst branch experience ever!!

I should have read reviews & went to my branch!! I'm so aggravated. I came to Santa Monica to bring my daughter for a job interview & thought it would be easier to deposit my check here since we are in the neighborhood. I wouldn't think that THIS BANK would be any different!! Because I didn't have a bank "profile" at this branch & The Teller THOUGHT my check that I've been depositing every 2 weeks for months was not Legit.. & HE PUT A HOLD ON 99% of the Funds!! Then tried to blame the "system" dude! I worked for banks I know how it goes.. he racially profiled me & assumed my check wasn't good. PEOPLE LIKE THIS SHOULD BE FIRED!! I TOOK MY CHECK BACK & I WILL GO TO BEVERLY HILLS!! WHERE MY CITI BRANCH IS!! WHAT A LOUSY SERVICE!! CLOSE THIS BRANCH!! & HE LIED AND SAID THERE WAS NO BRANCH MANAGER WHEN I ASKED..

This bank jus gets worse and worse. It's not even a bank anymore, it's am ATM machine with no one to help you! What a horrible remodel! Moving my money to One West where I actually get a live person!!!

Terrible! Just terrible! I waited on line with 4 others for 20 minutes with 1 teller available. This used to be an actual branch and now its just a fancy ATM. DON'T go there if you have any real banking to do. They couldn't even provide what I needed when I got to that single teller. UGH!

terrible customer service. Employee closed a saving and checking account after being asked to simply withdraw money from them. Great disappointment with SM branch, unlike other Citi locations. Will be moving my business to Chase.

I want to give 0 star to tell everyone DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS BRANCH! Worst branch I have ever seen, I came by 3:45PM and try to open a new account, the banker tell me they will not open it for me because they will close by 5PM!! Tell me come another day, we even talked about this thing for 30 mins and they could open it during that time! What a big joke they could stay home forever and never go for job if they like go home to avoid customers' request. NEVER go this branch or you want to flight someone go for this branch.

Ummm. Why are there only two tellers serving Santa Monica/Venice Area...the remodel looks beautiful but it's extremely inefficient. Waiting 20 minutes on my lunch break...used to be 3 at the most. Prob gonna close my account.

I really dislike this branch and Citibank in general. They closed my business account because they needed more info about me when I had this account for 4 years and I was out of the country when this happened so they locked all my money and got in lot of trouble. Zero stars to Citibank

This branch is very disappointing. Every time I go there to see a teller there is always a long line with only one teller. There is a man who greets customers. This branch would be much better served without a greeter and instead an extra teller. If you're injured or handicapped it is very painful to have to wait in a long line with no chairs. My wait time in line today was 30 minutes. Very unfortunate since the tellers are very friendly.
