NOBODY in this most rewarding, yet most heartbreaking world of dog rescue and adoption cares more than Randee...over and out!! She understands that these precious angels need to be adopted out to the best family for a particular dog....not all pets are a good fit with all people, and that just because someone sees a "cute" dog online that they must have for one reason or another, does not mean that they will be a good fit once Randee reviews the application. Her undying dedication to rescue and adoption has provided thousands of dogs with wonderful forever homes; unfortunately, however, there is a small percentage of people who don't agree with Randee's decision, and rather than respect her expertise and realize she won't be bullied by people at the expense of the dogs, that these people choose to publicly slander her is beyond belief! True dog lovers will do nothing but honor Randee for her truly selfless decades of devotion. With that said, we adopted a precious little stray that was deemed "aggressive" at a high-kill pound, and thanks to Randee grabbing her before euthanasia did, we have an angel that gives us unending joy!! We can never thank her enough....

I am so grateful to Randee and Lhasa Happy Homes for everything they do to not only rescue dogs, but find them the right family. I've read some of these negative reviews from people who did not "get" the dog they were interested in, and I think it's important to address that. Lhasa Happy Homes is not a pet store, they're a dog rescue. Some of their dogs have had really difficult lives, and Randee's number one priority is finding the right home for every dog. If a dog has experienced years of neglect and has severe separation anxiety and you're planning on leaving them alone for 12 hours a day, that's not a good fit. If a dog has a history of biting and you have a wild 2 year old, that also might not be a good fit. If a dog needs a lot of exercise and you plan on letting them out 3 times a day to go to the bathroom and that's it, also not the right fit. It doesn't matter how much you want that exact dog, Veruca. It's about finding the right fit, and Randee will be honest with you. I have fostered with LHH and also adopted my dog Kenzo from them. In addition to filling out in-depth questionnaires about the dogs you are fostering, Randee asks many questions to really understand the type of needs the dog may have. She works with her trusted fosters on reviewing applications from families to make sure every dog finds the right home. They are doing everything they can to make sure dogs are not "returned," since that can be incredibly traumatic for a dog. The dedication and care Lhasa Happy Homes shows towards their dogs is unparalleled. Their thoughtful and thorough approach to matching pups with the right families is a testament to their commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all involved. It was clear from the start that they genuinely care about the well-being of their dogs and are passionate about finding them loving, forever homes. My partner and I are forever grateful to Randee and Lhasa Happy Homes for bringing Kenzo into our lives. Our family is complete.

This is my second adoption through Lhasa Happy Homes, and it was another wonderful experience. Randee's is meticulous in screening adoptees, and that's a big reason I came back. She wants to be sure the dog will be well taken care of and that it will be a good match.

After filling out their extensive application, speaking the Randee, and driving an hour to their adoption event, we were told that they weren't comfortable adopting to our family because both my husband and I work outside the home. They didn't care that my 17 year old son does online school and is literally home all day long. Randee and her team passed us back and forth and spent more time talking to everyone else. After a couple of minutes we decided that this was not an organization we wanted to be involved with. Our mistake for not reading these reviews prior to driving out to Santa Monica.

Lhasa Happy Homes is such a waste of time. We applied for Churro and Gable. The application asked ultra specific questions that were very personal. Randee called and said that Gable needed a home with another dog but that Churro would be a better option. So we drove an hour to the adoption event in Santa Monica this morning just to be ignored when we arrived. We talked to Randee, who had a confused look and acted like she had no idea who we were (she had talked to my mom multiple times) and basically told us that they didn't like that both my parents would be working during the day and that I would be the only person home with the dog. They clearly didn't read our application before talking to my mom. For reference, I'm 17, do school from home, and don't really do that much outside of home. I would've spoiled whatever dog we adopted and given it so much love and attention, but Randee and her crew didn't care or ask me questions to get to know me. She just dismissed us completely and started talking to other people. Having someone home during the day is a big plus in my opinion, as most adults work outside of the home. But we didn't fit Randee's specific agenda and check all of her boxes, so we were brushed off and ignored. Lhasa Happy Homes was a massive waste of our time and I'm disappointed that Randee and Lhasa Happy Homes don't actually care about their dogs and just care about her agenda. I feel extremely bad for the dogs who might never get to become part of a loving family because of Randee. What a waste of time and gas just to be shut down over something that could've been said over the phone.

This will be the third time in 20 years. Randee has always been fair and informative with me. I am now in process of getting another malipoo from her.

We love LHH and all they did to support us in adopting our dog! There is no rescue that loves their dogs more! They helped us every step of the way and made us feel like family!

I am leaving this review because if it hadn't been for Randee and this group, I never would have met my soulmate Tedi. I used to run a dog rescue many years ago, and I see that most of the 1 star reviews are because people feel like Randee's adoption practices are over the top. Maybe they are (just a tad) but when you take in these most neglected and abused dogs, you tend to feel a bit protective. I know this from experience. I volunteered with her at one point, and our philosophies on some things were different, but this woman CARES DEEPLY for what she does- and let me tell you, it's a heartbreaking deal to run a dog rescue. We see a lot you don't even want to hear about. Frankly, I'm surprised she's still at it because the burn out rate is high. But she's still plugging away and I'm glad! Anyhow, I fostered Tedi before I adopted her, she was my third foster- I wanted to find a good home for her but my darling girl had some issues. Randee let me help decide who a good fit would be and I decided to go ahead and adopt her myself. She blossomed into the most wonderful dog EVER and I loved her feisty personality. I loved her more than anything and recently lost her due to heart failure. She was 12, and we had 10 amazing years together. How fast time flies. If you want to rescue a dog from this place, it's worth the extra bit of time. Randee puts her crazy little heart into this organization- I say that with affection (all of us dog ppl are a little nuts!). I would have missed out on the love of my life had I overlooked this organization. I'll miss my Tedi every minute of everyday.

Lhasa Happy Homes and its founder, Randee, continue to put so much time, dedication, and investment into all of their rescues. It is evident from the moment they are within LHH's care that the dog's well-being is the top priority. Through getting to know each dog's particular needs, funding medical procedures or behavioral training, thoroughly reviewing all applications, and more - these sweet dogs, from varying background stories, are sure to find the best fit for their forever homes. Although the process is thorough, adopting a dog is not a decision to be taken lightly and this is to find the optimal match for both the dog and you! If you are thinking of volunteering, fostering, or adopting I encourage you to check out Lhasa Happy Homes rescue on their website or at their adoption events in Santa Monica twice a month. I began volunteering with LHH in April of 2022 and have truly valued my time supporting this nonprofit organization ever since.

I have had the great fortune to volunteer with Lhasa Happy Homes (LHH) since June 2023. Given all the time and resources that go into rescuing dogs, I am in awe of the unbelievable dedication of LHH’s founder and all the volunteers. LHH focuses on the dogs most in need and, when required, invests in costly medical procedures or special training to boost their chances of getting adopted. When first rescued, all dogs spend time with the founder, who gets to know their personality and assesses which adoption family would be the best fit. The adoption process is selective, prioritizing the dog's welfare and ensuring they will be placed into their forever family. If you are an animal lover looking to support an experienced community-based rescue organization, look no further! As a nonprofit, LHH is always looking for volunteers, particularly foster families or financial support. Your investment will be more than worth it…I promise you!

After the death of our beloved Shih Tzu, we’ve been looking for another for baby. We reached out to several rescue organizations and found this one. We were really impressed with how responsive they are and how much they care about the animals they rescue. Very much recommended. If you can’t adopt a dog, consider giving them a donation.

Wanted to express how happy I am with this rescue! I adopted a bonded pair from LHH in 2009. Best little buddies ever! Randee was very thorough with her placement check list...which gave me confidence in getting a good match. I've worked for a few rescues in my day, and know how important it is to match the right dog with the right people, so they truly find their forever home. In fact, I believe so strongly in this rescue that even after moving 3 hours away, and having numerous good local rescues available to me, I still decided to do my new dog search only through LHH. So after checking the website for available dogs, making a visit to their adoption event, we just welcomed another bonded pair into our home, and couldnt be happier! My heart is full again! My experience with Randee was once again, wonderful. Yes she is thorough, and makes sure every dog gets the best chance to live their best life! And that the humans are happy too! Yea for LHH! 5 stars!!! And THANK YOU, Randee and Team...for all you do!

I don't know how I was so lucky to find Randee at Lhasa Happy Homes but to say that she's a superhero is an understatement. We had a crisis situation with my mom having to move into an Assisted Living that didn't accept dogs and Randee stepped in like the angel she is to save the day. Randee was so compassionate and understanding of my mom's struggles. With her deep knowledge, Randee seems to have a magic way of charming various types of dog personalities while finding the perfect home for each one. I CANNOT recommend Lhasa Happy Homes enough.

I offer my feedback to Randee and Lhasa Happy Homes in the hope that processes might change. I spent a little more than an hour completing the adoption application providing thoughtful responses to give an accurate description of myself and my home life. The application is overly personal and invasive, but I followed through due to my sincere desire to meet and possibly adopt an adorable Lhasa named, Howie. Randee promptly responded to my application via e-mail indicating that Howie might not be a good fit for my home for two reasons: First, I have cats and since Howie chases squirrels, she was concerned he would have a similar reaction to my cats. Second, Randee stated that Howie was such a kind dog, she wanted to place him with a family that had children who were older. I indicated in the application that I don't have children. Had I known there was a specific family type sought for Howie, I would have never spent more than an hour completing the application and revealing private information about myself (e.g., health conditions). It's actually pretty outrageous to elicit such revelations from folks just expressing an initial interest in a dog. After reading Randee's e-mail, I asked what type of dog she thought would be suitable for an adult-only home. An honest question considering her comments. That was nine days ago. She hasn't replied to my e-mail. This used to be one of the rescue sites I regularly checked since I'm an experienced Lhasa owner. Never again.
