I'll just add to the other low reviews here with my experience... Generally the produce and deli area is fine it's convenient and I like to get basic things -- I don't typically do my full grocery shop here. Today I dropped by after the gym to grab a couple of items, and when I came out my car, along with about 10 others, was completely blocked in by a delivery truck that was running (engine on) with no one inside of it. There was not enough space to exit. There was no way for me to go the opposite way. They were cars on all directions. I was completely blocked in. When I went inside to tell someone about it, they were responsive, but as I continued to explain to them that I was on a break and needed to go soon they seem to shrug their shoulders as if it's part of the risk when you come here. When I was taking pictures to document the experience for this review, the truck driver came out and saw what I was doing and started mocking me saying "take all the pictures you want it's not gonna change anything" and I thought to myself well it might change a few peoples opinions about whether or not they'll come here based on this experience... ?!? So to that guy here is my meaningless post and you get your very own pic on this review!

I had an absolutely HORRIFIC experience here. I had about five items in my cart and went to use the self-checkout. When I finished scanning my items, an extremely rude Asian lady working there harassed me and kept eyeing my self-checkout screen. You're in Santa Monica, for goodness sake; have some class, lady. After finishing scanning my items at the self-checkout, the situation escalated when the staff member, an extremely rude Asian lady, reached into my pocket and stole a $20 bill. Yes, I'm serious. To make matters worse, she directed a racial slur ('Dirty M#####n') at me for no apparent reason. This is not an isolated incident; we've experienced problems with her before, particularly when she was operating the manual checkout and displayed aggressive behavior towards us. I strongly urge the store management to address this issue promptly, and punish the thing either by sending it back to Viet or locking it up

I come to this store every day, but I feel particularly bad after going there these two days. The cashier is particularly rude and looks at me with particularly disgusting eyes.

INSTALL BRIGHT LIGHTS IN THE DANGEROUSLY DARK PARKING LOT AT NIGHT AT PAVILIONS AT 820 MONTANA AVE., SANTA MONICA, 90403. PROTECT YOUR CUSTOMERS AND EXPOSE CRIMINALS! I SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE TO ASK. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE YEARS AGO IF PAVILIONS EXECUTIVES TRULY CARED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS AND WEREN'T SO CHEAP!

During my recent visit to Pavilions grocery store, Hector Ceja provided exceptional service by assisting me with my shopping bags all the way to my car. His friendly demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond made my shopping experience truly delightful. Thank you, Hector, for your outstanding assistance!

The new manager, Esmeralda Morales, is an awful human being. She does not have any customer service skills & treats customers like garbage. Do not shop here!!! I had a great relationship with the previous manager, Mark. I work across the street & had an issue with a neighbor who was charged with indecent exposure to me so Mark agreed to let me safely park in the pavilions parking lot, where I have been parking for over 5 years, everyday.Yesterday my car was towed & it cost $470 to get out. When I realized my car was gone I asked to speak to the manager & Esmeralda came out. Immediately she had a snotty facial expression & when trying to explain to her the agreement I had with Mark she was shaking her head no…no…no…I asked her what she is shaking her head about & she said she’s been working there for a year & didn’t recognize me. I’ve been shopping there almost everyday for over 5 years as well and know plenty of the staff & Starbucks employees. I came back to work to find my colleagues car was also towed, she went to speak with the manager too & Esmeralda was rude to her saying “I don’t care” when my colleague said she can’t afford to get her car towed. This woman is NASTY, inconsiderate, rude & lacks any kind of human compassion. It would have been a whole different story had they put a warning on our cars & we could’ve talked to her about my previous agreement & see that we are good customers & their neighbors. When we went to pick up our cars, warning letters were on the windshield, yet they towed them the same day anyway. I hope she gets fired & she should get a job at the tow truck place where she can spew her nasty attitude to all the unfortunate & angry customers who have to pick up their cars. I’m certain karma will bite her where she deserves.

I've shopped at this Pavilion's for over 5 years & would've given 5 stars as everyone has been friendly & I've enjoyed being a customer...until they hired the new manager, Esmeralda Morales. This woman is AWFUL & does not have any customer service skills & doesn't know how to treat people. She is NASTY & RUDE, and actually just MEAN. I've worked across the street for over 5 years & in late 2019, early 2020 I was a victim of a sexual predator who lives nearby, I brought the police report to the then manager Mark (who was very kind & friendly) & explained my situation & asked if I could park in the parking lot, as to not have to pass the house of the offender, and he allowed me to park there. I've parked there for over 5 years. This week on Tuesday I parked as I normally have, went grocery shopping on my lunch break (spent $90) and was bringing my groceries out to my car & my car was gone! I went back in & shockingly & worriedly asked if they towed my car, the manager was called & Esmeralda showed up...I tried explaining the agreement I had with Mark & she started shaking her head "No", stated she's been there a year & never seen me (I had been out of the office the past 2 weeks & it was my 1st day back). She kept saying she's been enforcing & towing cars for a month. I asked her "what are you shaking your head for?" She stated "I'm not having this discussion". I then learned she also towed my colleagues car & when she went to speak with the manager (Esmeralda) she came back & told me "Omg she was SO rude. I told her I can't afford to have my car towed & she said 'I don't care'." My coworker & I were both appalled at how rude she was & how she has no compassion or empathy. We are both good customers too! Then we took an Uber to the tow company & it was $470 each. The worst part is there was a warning on the cars (see photo). Had I got the warning I would have went to talk to her. But this was so unnecessary & it was as if Esmeralda enjoys putting people into awful situations & financial hardships. She doesn't know how to treat people, much less her customers. You would think a manager has better things to do than go out & mark cars & spend pavilions time & money to hurt their customers. Don't shop here until they find a new manager who knows how to treat people with respect. It's clear she was raised in the hood & doesn't deserve to be managing a store with affluent customers.

I was a loyal customer of Pavilions on Montana but recently their service is so unfriendly. I went and brought expensive wine in the locked up refrigerator section. The staff came and opened it for me and he put it in my cart. I said let go together and check out and pay first then I can continue to shop more. Without any facial expression, he said that he had to bring it up to the cashier and leave it there. I said I can pay for it now. He said sorry that’s their procedure. Super unfriendly. I said if you don’t want me to pay for it now, then it’s fine. I just want to express that their service staff always seem unhappy, unfriendly and unpleasant recently… never going to shop there again! I have moved to Bristol Farm on Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica!! Bristol Farms is by far the best!!!

My fiancé and I recently (Saturday at around 9:30pm) visited this Pavilions to pick up some cat food. Our shopping experience took an unexpected turn when we noticed a security guard tailing us throughout our visit. While we understand the importance of store security, it became uncomfortable and unnerving to be followed down every aisle and even during our checkout process. What puzzled us even more was witnessing instances of drunk individuals climbing on the shelves and homeless individuals wandering around the store without any noticeable intervention from the security staff. Despite these disruptive occurrences, the security guard seemed fixated on us, making us feel singled out and targeted, despite doing nothing to warrant alarm.Unfortunately, our visit to this Pavilions fell short of these expectations due to the constant surveillance we experienced. We will not be returning since we have never experienced this degree of discomfort while simply shopping for cat food.

Saturday evening, August 5, 2023. Huge line at the only open checkout, because, it's Saturday at 7:45pm, and people are buying alcohol. First off, Katherine R. was handling it like a pro!! When I complimented her the 'manager ' who was at the closed register behind her overheard me complimenting the hard work of Kathy and FINALLY decided to open a second register.Kudos to Kathy for her grace under pressure and dealing with a preventable situation!!Respectfully~A frequent shopper in the neighborhood

A store attendant came up to me and my dog asked all the illegal questions about my service dog. At first she said that the store only allowed service dogs. I replied that my dog is a service dog. She proceeded to ask me if I have verification ID with me. I said no. She then said next time I can take a picture with my phone and provide proof that way. She proceeded to say that my dog is sniffing food on the ground and that's not what a service dog would do. I asked: are you implying I am lying? She had no words. Pavilions - would you train your employees to handle this with compassion? Her actions were illegal in the state of California. I felt absolutely bullied in your store.
