Dr. Annie Hernandez is simply the best. Always greets me with a hug. Loves my kitties. Very knowledgeable and professional. They don’t come better than this!

DO NOT RECOMMEND! They recommended prescription food for my pup's vomiting when in reality she has roundworms and the medication they gave us for her roundworms, with no information passed on potential side effects, resulted in her throwing up 5 times in under an hour and a trip to the ER. My pup is 17 weeks old -- the lack of care for our pets at this organization, information provided and overall service is awful. Nobody should take their pet here as they simply do not care about their wellbeing. Below for more details on our experience: I brought my pup in for a new client appt, she's 17 weeks old, and with a major concern that she had been throwing up on and off for the past week. The vet we saw, Dr O'Donnell, didn't seem concerned and wrote it off as her likely being a puppy and tried to put us on prescription food for her likely sensitive stomach. Honestly appalled that at 17 weeks and little to no information or further diagnosis on her vomiting the doctor would try to force prescription food. I requested a fecal examination worried it could be parasites or giardia but Dr O'Donnell didn't think anything would come back. Turns out she has roundworms and not necessarily a sensitive stomach that needs prescription food -- surprise surprise. A different vet, Dr Hillebrand had called us regarding the roundworm diagnosis and provided little to no information besides that she has roundworms and we could pick up medication. At what level is the infestation? How contagious? Can she still socialize? What are the long term impacts of this? Potential side effects to the prescribed medication? NOTHING -- questions I had and had to research myself to better understand what was communicated as a simple diagnosis. We gave our pup the medication for roundworms and a short 3 hours later she vomited 5 times in the span of 1 hour (she was doing pretty well for 4 days no vomiting previously) and we took her to the emergency vet worried about her vomiting and that something else might be going on. No information was passed along to us that the medication they recommended could have adverse side effects such as vomiting. It took us 3 days to acquire the lab work information after she was diagnosed and I had to personally come in to obtain it after getting fed up from having to wait so long. Reception is often short with you when asking for further documentation and the staff is extremely reluctant to accommodate for their mistakes!

there are some good doctors here but my last visit was the final straw. one of the doctors completely missed a double ear infection on the first visit and i had to come back again, and I got charged for both visits even though the doctor failed to address the root cause of my dogs pain on the first visit. scammy & not always friendly to people of color. there are better options.

I was really scared and cautious when I came in due to the recent reviews. But I had a pleasant and very normal experience. I had recently adopted a 7.5 year old dog and brought him in for a full exam. Dr Hernández was very pleasant and seemed to really care. She did recommend a few products which others could see as an upsell but I felt they were logical recommendations based on my dog's health concerns. I also thought the office staff in the front was just fine. This place is worth a try; don't be scared by the 1 star reviews.

I should have read the reviews on here instead of google. This is one of those vets that behaves like dishonest car mechanics and try to squeeze every last dime out of you...but it's even worse because they're exploiting your love for your pet. The prices are exorbitant. And she kept trying to push Nexgard on us even though I made it clear we prefer another brand. Lo and behold it shows up on our price estimates. This is the "Saul Goodman" of veterinary practices.

I probably should have read reviews before taking my puppy here. My vet's practice is short staffed, so they are not doing surgeries now. I needed to find a local vet to take care of my puppies spay. With our first visit, I signed in on the clipboard at reception. I was early and waited patiently in the lobby for about twenty minutes when I received a call on my phone saying I missed my pets appointment. Ok, I'll let that slide, but seemed strange. The appointment was to meet vet and get an estimate for the spay procedure. I don't think the vet did any sort of exam. I was emailed an estimate the following day, and I was shocked! The over $2000 amount was out of my budget. They pad the estimate for potential problems like being in heat or teeth extractions. I might have saved $300 if she didn't have those issues. Bottom line, I found another practice that is doing the same quality of procedure at less than half their estimate.

We had a terrific first visit! The entire staff made us feel very welcomed. Can’t wait to get back and give them more kisses-Lucky Luciano?

Switching to this Vet was one of the best decisions we ever made! We switched to SMPMC when we moved to the Santa Monica area and couldn't be happier. It has been night and day in terms of our experience as compared to our last Vet experience. The Vets, Techs, Front Desk staff at Santa Monica Pet Medical Center are extremely kind, supportive and expert. When we have had time sensitive issues going on with our pup, the Vets would call us back in a timely manner and give us their thoughtful opinion. It has been easy to get through to the front desk for ANY question or issue we came across, and we have always received a call back quickly if we needed to pass a message along to a Vet. These people truly love and care for animals. We will be loyal to SMPMC as long as we own pets! (Also, parking is easy - they have a lot and there is usually street parking).

Started bringing my 7 year old lab here after the local VCA never had any appointments available. The front desk is friendly and specifically, Dr. O'Donnell has been just wonderful. My dog has a history of cancer and had a recent scare and she has called to follow up and check on him more than any other general vet we've had. She answers all my questions and addresses my concerns and seems very knowledgeable. Often times she calls after 6 pm which shows me that she really cares and wants what is best for my fur baby. Very grateful for this - thank you Dr. O'Donnell!

Terrible service and they charge you $60 to clip nails. They charge 2x or more than any other vet for shots. The bad reviews are all true. Avoid this place at all costs.

I really like this place, although I was originally scared due to the reviews. The women at the front desk in particular are always incredibly kind and love greeting my dog, and I can tell that everyone in the office (including the vet) genuinely cares about his wellbeing. I have a 9 month old English Bulldog puppy who was just neutered and got stenotic nares surgery without issue. I was really worried because I've never owned a bulldog before, but they made the process so easy and he healed completely with no pain!

First timing coming in: 1. Brought in a fecal sample, that was just thrown away (mentioned this to the doctor and asst.) 2. Asked for a bordatella shot, they brought her back to me without administering, doctor forgot to write it down 3. My dog was given ear meds.. $70/ear, $140 total, had never heard of the med looked it up you can buy online with a prescription $25/ear, $50 total. A 70% mark up?? Came in Thurs, emailed Friday morning when I noticed the fecal matter analysis wasn't on my receipt, and wanted to understand why the ear meds are so expensive. No response. Emailed 24 hrs later, no response. Called 5 hrs later and they couldn't find my emails, then put me on hold for 10 minutes. Never coming back.

No way! Stay away! I just hung up the phone with this place. The incompetence here is unreal. I called to set up an appointment & the girl who answered, Jackie, was speaking so fast & could barely finish a sentence and wasn't listening, whe I asked her to spell my last name, I did spell it slowly & phonetically, she screwed up & I was giving her the correct spelling abs she put me on hold (maybe it was traumatizing lol) then another lady picked up and she the. Transferee me to Cece, who was asking me for my name all over again.. she then said she makes the appointments.. or do you just clean up Jackie's incompetency? I'd be scared to take an animal that has such a disorganized & rude front desk And, I see that the manager wrote some thing I wasn't asking for medical advice when the receptionist said that they couldn't see my cat for a few days, all I asked is what should I do in the meantime before he comes in so they're very unclear about their facts .. In any case I don't want professional practice instead of a bunch of amateurs

We recently had a wonderful experience at Pet Medical with Dr. Williams, who is new to the center and has an impressive background. My cat was presenting with vomiting and diarrhea. Tests were performed (Pet Medical always gives me a printout of the estimate before they proceed). It was pancreatitis. Follow-up appointment has been made. We've been coming here for 10 years and have never been treated rudely by staff, or overcharged, or made to wait weeks for an appointment, as some reviewers claim. My only complaint is how costly a feline dental cleaning and exam is here (my insurance won't cover the cost). We were sad to see Dr. Bijlani leave; however, we are thrilled with Dr. Williams and appreciate all the vets' hard work!
