I had my vehicle appraised here. Then after checking with multiple other shops Carnax gave the highest appraisal by quite a bit. The process: I went online, submitted the info there, then had to go into a location for them to verify everything, and it was the same amount as the online quote! (I was expecting them to lower it, like a bait and switch.) Anyway, I had to think about it and a few days later went back to finalize the sale. I'm not going to lie- it took several hours, which felt like forever! But in the end, they paid off my loan and I left with a check- so mission accomplished! I also called the Carmax help line a few times with questions, and they were very thorough and nice. P.S. If you go through this process, ask for Skye! She was really upbeat, helpful and genuinely seemed to care about my making it through the process as efficiently and possible.

Bought a 2016 Audi A3 delivered to my house, sight-unseen, through CarMax-Santa Rosa. The whole process went very well. Had the car delivered to Santa Rosa from a different CarMax for $99, then delivered to my place for a 30-day/1500 mile tryout. You can't go too far wrong with such a deal. Car looked just a good in real life and online. [It was difficult for me to drive the 50 miles to Santa Rosa, at the time.] BUT, there was a scrunching noise underneath the car during starting or stopping, or going over a speed bump. Talked with Chelsea in Santa Rosa Carmax. She quickly, readily and courteously arranged to have the car taken to a local repair place (not Audi), and the transmission was found to be loose, apparently recent work elsewhere had been faulty. So, that was fixed, bill to Carmax about $2K, no questions asked. BUT, during the transmission access work, it was found that a marginal electrical charging system problem existed, probably due to the previous transmission work. SO, Carmax immediately sent the car to Audi. After another $7K, that was fixed. SO, I rate CarMax-Santa Rosa, Chelsea, and another rep there as 5-STAR. The car problems, not from them, were fixed with not even a hint of pushback, and with very good manners. I appreciate it.

We purchased a used Subaru Forester a few months ago form this location. The sales staff was extremely helpful and made the process very easy. Upon driving it for a few days we started noticing a burnt oil smell and smoke would come from the engine compartment when we stopped. We took it to a local Subaru specialist and they determined that the cam shaft seal was leaking and it was going to be a big job to fix it. We called Carmax about the repair and once again they were very easy deal with. The mechanic was not in their list of service providers, but they approve the repair anyway. After the repairs were complete, the mechanic called the Carmax rep and was paid immediately on the phone with a credit card. The mechanic is also now a member of their service providers for future business. This was a win win for everyone! Thank you so much for taking an unfortunate situation and turning it into a great experience!

I chose CarMax because of online inventory, great details. Began narrowing down favorites at nearby location. Learned that specific models in search will surface at all CarMax locations, and can be shipped to you for a fee. Answered online questions and spoke with CarMax Rep per ph. Drove 50 miles further than hoped, test drove my car choice, left with it same day. Smooth, easy, professional, friendly staff. Recommend Ms De Leon, Sr. Sales Consultant, Santa Rosa CA

I've purchased cars at CarMax Santa Rosa three times in six years. The prices at CarMax are somewhat higher than competitors, but for that premium you get excellent service, 30 days to reverse the deal, a 90-day warranty, and in my experience a vehicle you can count on.

It was literally the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had purchasing a vehicle. Everyone was courteous and helpful. No pressure and no rush with any decisions made. And everything was fully explained with patients. We love our Jeep grand Cherokee. And we look forward to purchasing our next vehicle from Carmax for our daughters 18th birthday coming soon.

As Azlynn Moore, I would like to bring to attention the fact that I believe I was subjected to racial profiling and discrimination during my recent transaction with CarMax. It is my firm belief that I was treated unfairly and differently based on my race, and that this treatment had a direct impact on my experience. I am deeply troubled by the possibility that my race was a factor in the way I was treated during this transaction, and I am committed to addressing this issue to ensure that others do not have to endure similar discriminatory treatment in the future.

Selling my car was very easy and I feel like got a fair price. Buying the new car was also pretty easy. They required a lot of paperwork. I did the whole process online as I don’t have a car to get down there. They advertised that they would deliver the car to me. I bought the car, and now they are telling me I am 1 mile over their limit. I have no way of getting down there to get the car so that is where it stands.

It appears that different Carmax stores operate differently. CarMax is still better than any car dealership I dealt with.I wasn't happy having to deal with so many different people during the course of my purchase, though they were all very nice. My situation was definitely not what these folks were used to dealing with. My loan agent was put through the wringer but her perseverance got the deal done.
