Hello,
Santee CA 92071 locals. I'm not one to leave negative feedback (please view my other reviews), but in this case I feel that it is important to inform the general public about this particular location.
I dropped my chi'poodle off on April 1st at the this location (it was the 2nd time in a row) because the petco website said that the LA mesa location was full.
At 1st I thought it was a April fool's joke, but I soon remembered that the last visit here was far from enjoyable.
You see, what happened was, I received a voice mail from the store manager (*Jennifer) telling me that my dogs ear had been cut and I wouldn't be charged for the visit. [Pretty sure that was her name*]
And she took my dog to the vet (Petco Vet) in the building and they glued her ear.
I'm really surprised that they would do this without asking me 1st.
Without giving me a chance to take the pup to my own vet.
When I got to the location and spoke with the groomer Bethany it was more than obvious that this woman was under some sort of duress.
Her arms were bandaged up and she looked like she had just had a medical procedure (in my opinion).
And the Petco vet refused to give me any documentation on the incident.
I understand that it's just a little dog with a injury but it's an ignorant display of authority in my opinion.

My daughter and I planned all week to get her another fish for her aquarium, we got to the Santee store at 7:20pm on a Friday night. We went to look at the fish and at 7:28 when I asked the store employee if he could help us with the fish he said, "Ohh, were not selling fish tonight, it's close to closing and it's only me and the cashier at the front in the store today." I said "You don't close for 30 minutes right?" He said "Yes but it's only me and the cashier". Now mind you the ONLY people in the entire store are the guys that's at the cashier checking out, some woman who seemed like she was the girlfriend of the employee that denied me help and the cashier at the register. I asked very politely for the man to help us and that we had been planning this all week and it meant a lot to us. His "girlfriend" that was loitering around in the store even offered to get the fish for us to which the employee refused. The employee was cleaning out the snake cage when I made my request, so your to busy to help a paying customer, but not to busy to hang out with your girlfriend and clean snake cages, felt more like he was lazy and didn't want to chase fish in a fish take. We only wanted 2 fish! It would have taken 5 minutes!!! He gave me the impression that he was doing things that could be easily be done when the hours of operation are over. Worst service I've ever received at a Petco. I'll buy my fish elsewhere next time.

This is a great store. The staff are very friendly and they typically have everything that we’re looking for their dog training is wonderful and they’re fat and boarding is top-notch. We highly recommend.
