Wow! This was way beyond our expectations. This sailboat is a beauty and is maintained in a pristine condition. And the crew was phenomenal, gentle, engaged, and hard working. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work to maneuver the sail and negotiate cross winds. We were lucky as the weather on the mild side, with sun out, water cobalt blue and serene. As the sun was setting in, the boats, birds, and moon for an amazing experience. Highly highly recommended.

Beautiful outing. 2 nd time. Under GG bridge, depends on current and wind. Swarm of 1000 birds herring fishing and a whale. You may not see all these events on your trip but they can happen ! The ballet of the crew is wonderful to observe and you can join them to hoisting and adjusting the sails.

Day sail to the Farallon Islands on schooner Seaward. The boat was beautiful, the crew was capable and friendly, and we were fortunate to enjoy great conditions. Lots of wildlife along the way, including whales and sunfish. Great views of the southeast island, and wonderful sail back to the Golden Gate. Good value, particularly considering the proceeds help support their wonderful educational activities. This particular trip lasted about ten hours, around 65 nautical miles, mostly on open waters. A shorter trip inside the bay might be a better choice for someone not sure how much they like boats. But if you dress warmly and aren't prone to mal de mer, this is a wonderful adventure.

I want to thank Call of the sea for a wonderful adventure they took MisP's Fifth grade class from Saint Rafael on May 5th. The enjoyment and fun the children had was wonderful to experience. They were able to see whales, porpoises, sea lions, seals and birds. The kids even had an opportunity to steer the boat. The crew was very helpful, professional. Their dedication for safety and sharing of their expertise was incredible.

No better way to see the beauty of the Golden Gate, San Francisco and the beauty that surrounds the bay. We had a lovely sail. The crew was fantastic and engaging. Support this fine organization and have a once in a lifetime experience!

We had the opportunity to do a late afternoon sail on the Matthew Turner. It was outstanding! The crew was great, friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. Loads of fun to watch them work, and even more fun to pitch in to help raise the main sail. We had a beautiful evening, out into the bay (where the wind from the ocean dropped the air temperature at least 10 degrees), then out around Angel Island. The ship is clean and tidy (why, yes, 'ship-shape'), and while a working sailing ship, easy to get around. The Call of the Sea is a great organization, and the Matthew Turner a wonderful experience.

So many things to praise at COS! From the professional office staff to the competent crew and wonderful education programs. I love the camp which offers kids a chance to steer a ship, learn about knots and to see what living aboard is like.

My wife and I were enchanted by Saturday's Lighted Boat Parade on Call of the Sea's Matthew Turner. The weather was perfect, the boat was magnificent, the light show was beautiful, and the people were the best part. We especially loved the crew work - well done!

The sail on the Mathew Turner is an adventure for anyone that likes historical boats, sailing or just being on the water. My wife and I had a great time. The crew is friendly, knowledgeable and likes to share details about the ship. I'm sure this won't be the last sail on the Mathew Turner.

A wonderful adventure on the Bay with a fantastic crew on a beautiful locally crafted tall-ship. Loved our sail on the Matthew Turner and so appreciate the great work of Call of the Sea!

I’ve been sailing most of my life. I love SF Bay. The Mathew Turner added a new element. It was my first time sailing on a ship. She is so stable it makes you want to grab that massive and head for the Gate, then make a left and head to the Tropics. The crew was very efficient & skilled. We all got to participate in the raising of the main sail. Then several of the crew climbed the rigging and unfurled the square sails What a show that was. Nimble and brave.

SEPT 11, 2021, 3:15pm Sail: Sooo beautiful and healing...incredible sail with great winds all around the Bay...wonderful fog rolling down Sausalito in the sunshine as we set sail in the afternoon. Amazing views of Alcatraz, SF, GG Bridge, Tiburon, Angel Island. Fun watching the young staffers who are clearly so well trained, manage this gorgeous new boat modeled after and olde sailing vessel...hiking up ridiculously high ropes, and communicating in their own language, keeping us safe, not over managing us, letting us be, and answering all questions. Thank you all!! And...I saw a seal pop her nose up as we headed back : )

I joined two friends for a magical Friday evening sunset cruise on the Matthew Turner brigantine and altogether memorable experience. The young and enthusiastic crew were friendly and happy to talk about the history of the ship, helmed by an amazing female captain!
