Inferior bikes that are not high quality. Kids bike started to shift poorly due to a bent derailleur hanger. The hanger was built into the frame - a practice not used due to strength and difficult replacement issues. When contacted, the company said tough luck.In all fairness, the new models are now built with the removable hanger and might hold up better. However, due to my past interactions, I will not be supporting them.

my kid got one for her birthday. out of the box, the wheels were so badly out of true that the bike was unsafe to ride because the brakes would not work. called the company and were told that "out of true" is not covered and that we would have to take it to a bike shop and have it fixed out of pocket, we will not be reimbursed for the expense. the front reflector supposedly goes on the handlebars, but does not fit properly and not comes loose and becomes useless very easily (so, that's not safe, either). their customer service is atrocious. the bike is designed badly, it is over priced, and it comes in need of repair out of the box. also, there's no kickstand included. and the handlebars are not height-adjustable. it would have been better to go to a bike shop (or even Walmart!) and just pick out a simple bike for less than half the cost and not have to take it to get repaired before the kid can ride it. we're out a $50 repair fee and no bike for a week while it gets repaired. hopefully it *should* be finally safe to ride.

Bike is great, no issues there. Good geometry and comfortable for kids. Headset was a little rough/sticky initially but it seems to be worked out.Unfortunately didn't have much luck with customer service. I had received a coupon code in my email that stated I would save over 40%, but realized after purchasing that the math was wrong and the discount was closer to 25%. Not an issue normally (besides misleading advertising) except that they had another coupon at the time that was 38% off and would have been cheaper. Tried to ask for a price adjustment before the bike shipped but they said they weren't able to do that. Bummer because I was looking into the Owl for my older kid but might consider other brands.

I'm learning the hard way that Cleary doesn't back their warranty, apparently there are fine print terms and the lifetime warranty advertised is not for anything they deem a part. Everything but the frame is a part. So I'm on my second and last bike.I emailed support to let them know the S30 shifter on the Owl 3 speed is difficult to shift for even me as an adult and they let me know they only warranty parts for 30 days after purchase. STheir FAQ page says they offer a lifetime warranty. The bike is over 30 days because we bought it early to make sure we could get the color we want. The snow here has barely been thawed for 30 days! We have maybe four hours of ride time on this and my kid can shift. A brand new part on a brand new bike and the company won't back it.Even with all that aside, shipping alone takes 5 days, so it's really only a 25 day warranty. Not lifetime. I was stunned.Dissapointing that cleary is just a rip-off company.

I am on my third bike. My daughter started riding at 2 years old and upgraded to a hedgehog at 5. My son learned on her gecko and then also upgraded at 4. I have dealt with Colin and Beth and both of them have been great. Yes, they are more expensive than big box companies but you get what you pay for. No training wheels or balance bikes needed and very happy children. This is a great company with quality product.

This bike company is what it all about. I bought a geko for my son who ended up riding it three months before his 3rd birthday! The weight was a primary decision point for me but once receiving the bike, the build quality is equally impressive. If you have a kid and are considering what bike to buy, please look at Cleary Bikes. On a separate note, I had the pleasure of interacting with Colin regarding a stem for the bike. The customer service was above my expectations and confirmed that I spent my money with the right company. Thanks Cleary!

My 3 year and 2 month old is riding the Gecko and loves every second of it. Initially, he started riding a balance bike and jumped straight to the Gecko with minimal issues. It being lightweight and free wheel was perfect for him to pedal up our hill. As one of the reviewers said, his knees did appear to be awkward, however, he got better over time and had better form. I did purchase the upgraded seat, seat post, and 50mm riser handle bars for an additional cost but the amount of pure joy my son is having is worth the expense. Especially since I know I have had a $5 daily latte habit in the past and movie night (pre-COVID) with kids can be well into the hundreds, it is a no brained. Oh I forgot the most important part, every person I have talked to on the phone has been nothing but knowledgeable and friendly. Keep rocking and delivering quality products.

My husband bought the gecko for our 3 year old girl. She learned to ride it so quickly and it is easy for to use. It’s her go to for transportation now. I love the color. Also, we take this bike on mountain bike trails and she does really well with it. I highly recommend these bikes.

We got my son the Cleary gecko for his 3rd birthday. His inseam is 15' so the gecko seemed like it would fit him. From the start, his legs have been too high and he has a very awkward position when the pedals are on. In order to put his feet on the pedals, he needs to stand up which isn't a good way for him to learn a pedal bike. I contacted Cleary and they told me I should buy a new seat post which is confusing since my son is within the height range for the gecko. After less than 2 months of owning this bike, a part of the brake broke. To spend $300 and have the bike break already is really disappointing to me. I contacted Cleary and they said the part would be under warranty. I just wish I could return the bike. I do not recommend the Cleary Gecko. Maybe the bikes are better in bigger sizes but save yourself some trouble and disappointed kids and don't get this model.

Cleary makes great bikes. I bought the Scout 26” for my 11 yr old daughter. It will serve her well for many years without the need to upgrade tire size or parts. - Tom San Jose

My kids elementary school is taking donations from different businesses throughout the Bay Area and Cleary Bikes was gracious enough to provide us with a bike to be raffled off for school funding. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff (owner) and his wife and I felt the need to write this review in total appreciation for their donation and the amazing vibe felt from our interactions. Clearly they understand the need for solid bikes designed for kids specs and the Sausalito workshop demonstrates a role model Dad building a business around something he loves (cycling with his kiddos) I feel the need to support a family run business like Jeff's because it values families spending quality time together doing something good for their health. It sounds like his bike business is headed to Oakland and I'm sure he'll do well with the amount of kids on bikes in the Bay Area. Thanks again Jeff for being such a swell fella and I look forward to buying a bike from you in our kids next cycle phase!!

My son learned to pedal the first time he got on the gecko at 3. Now he's outgrown it and we got him a hedgehog. The bikes are high quality and perfectly suited to small riders.
