Heath Ceramics, established in California in 1948, is known for designing, making, and selling timeless and high-quality goods for the home. Founded by Edith and Brian Heath, it has grown from a small pottery studio into a business that focuses on honest, thoughtful craftsmanship. Led by husband and wife team Robin and Cathy, the company aims to shape how people relate to the things they own, emphasizing integrity and good design. Visitors appreciate the store’s collection of beautiful ceramics, including dinnerware, dessert bowls, and kitchenware, often available at affordable prices through factory seconds and thirds. These seconds are good for use and come at discounted prices, making it easy to find gorgeous pieces with minor defects. The stores, including locations in the Mission District and Sausalito, are popular spots to browse and purchase pottery, with a large room dedicated to seconds and many pretty items to choose from. The Sausalito store offers a sizeable showroom with a variety of collections and a wall of factory seconds, which customers find appealing. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the stores are well-maintained, with safety measures like masked employees. Heath Ceramics also offers a lovely collection of kitchenware, cast iron items, and materials suitable for kitchen or bathroom remodels, known for their quality and longevity. Overall, Heath Ceramics represents a simple, honest approach to design and craftsmanship that continues to attract enthusiasts and new customers alike.
Always love stopping here. I think the second can be more interesting than the bits that are considered perfect. Also very helpful staff looked in the back for a second in a color that was not out on the floor for me.

Sooo aesthetically pleasing. It's sad that beautiful simplicity in the US has to be incredibly expensive, but there it is. There's a seconds aisle that's a bit cheaper and still very very nice. Also a seconds tile shed out back.
