Heather McTavish prepared my taxes the past several years. This year, when she e-filed them, my social security number was stolen and someone else used it to file a fraudulent return. I understand that these things can happen, but what angered me was that Heather did nothing to help me after it happened. She even incorrectly filed an amended return that made things worse. She never called the IRS to try and resolve the situation and she stopped taking my calls or answering my emails. She has subsequently closed her office and is now operating out of her home. I would caution you about using her as your tax preparer.

Year Round Tax Service has closed and people did not get their documents back and in reviews are also reporting that they were having problems with false tax returns being filed. They are also apparently H&M tax preparation. Heather McTavish's CPA license is inactive as of June 30th. She claims to be an Enrolled Agent but she is not currently authorized by the IRS as a CPA or Enrolled Agent. You should consider filing a police report and a complaint with the Better Business Bureau based on the experiences you have had. Visit the following IRS link and complete and submit the appropriate form 14157 and/or 14157-A for the problem you experienced. If you didn't get your records or a copy of your tax return, that is IRS preparer misconduct.

Where did Heather McTavish go. Year Round Tax Service has disappeared without a word. What happens to our records? Why didn't I get any notice that my tax preparer was closing. Vanished.

A mistake was made on my tax return, per a letter from the IRS. I've been calling Year Round Tax service to get the error fixed for 3 weeks now, and no return calls. I stopped by their office, and it's empty, been cleaned out. Does anyone know where they moved to? The phone number is not disconnected though. What a disappointment.

If I could give zero stars I would. I was told after they did my tax return that I owed both federal and state so I paid and they e-filed the returns. to my surprise, I received a refund from the IRS. After contacting them, it seems as if what they filed is different than what they gave me, leaving me with trying to sort everything out. On top of that, I was told by the IRS that the refund they said I was due went to an account that is not mine and that I know nothing about so I don't know where the money is. I've been emailing and calling for weeks and have heard nothing back from the office or Heather.

These people are very unprofessional and disorganized. I used them for a couple of years and then this year they have been extremely flakey. They said they would have my taxes done by last week (they have been sitting with the info for 2 months) but I never heard back from them. When I called today the receptionist hung up on me after I inquired.

Absolutely deplorable tax accountant, we used Heather for years and then came back to her in 2018. My husband and I thought all of our taxes were being filed correctly and on time, only to receive letters from the IRS and FTB starting in December of 2022 that our corporate taxes were filed incorrectly for 2018 & 2019 AND 2021 corporate taxes were filed 7 months late. We tried to contact Heather and her staff by email and phone to no avail and no resolution. After 2 trips to her office in an attempt to get the specific requirements by the IRS and the FTB resolved, we are now sitting in her office (for the 3rd time this week) for 2 plus hours and the clock is still ticking, AND we are still waiting for all of the documents to address all of the misfiled tax documents by Heather. We incurred over $1750 in interest and penalties for the incorrect computation on taxes and for filing taxes 7 months late. She refuses to refund us for the penalty's and interest, although we submitted the tax paperwork on time, paid the taxes on time and paid her fees for work performed on time. If you want a shoddy shady accountant, who takes zero responsibility for her work Heather is a go to for sure!

For the past 2 years I paid Marcus to prepare and file my taxes and for the past 2 years my taxes were not filed. Enough said. The guy is a crook and a scam artist

The tax work was good and quick.Face to face time was sketchy as communication was always through emails or the secretary, who has very limited hours, 10 to 2 pm. Just a look at my age should have alerted this young bright cpa that I was old school and liked to be reassured by voice..Having insisted on meeting her, I found her knowledgeable and friendly, and I would go back.

Do not bring your taxes to this office!! There is something seriously wrong with this woman. She kept my paperwork for two months and did nothing, then "accidentally" shredded my whole file. When I took my taxes in, I explained that I had just gotten them back from an accountant who had them for 2 months and had also done nothing. I gave a copy of the final demand before a lien on over 200k was going to be done by the IRS. I never heard anything from Heather and would stop by the office to see what was up. A month or so ago I dropped off some other paperwork that supposedly would get my taxes finished. Then no word and office closed due to Covid quarantine. Then I'm calling and get no response. Stopping by and the assistant doesn't know where my paperwork is. So no communication, doesn't remember anything about my case and shredded everything. These were documents that should never had been shredded but returned. Such dysfunction reeks of alcoholism or substance abuse. My life us ruined and she needs to stop taking customers and get help.

Called a few times last year, left cheery voicemails and received no, zero, response. Busy or no, I would have liked a response, to schedule out or to have them suggest a month to call... anything would have been nice.I appreciate the 5 star, but I can't say that about them. Perhaps the number on the awning is wrong??
