If you pay with a credit card, you better bring your checkbook too!!This business doesn't care about you, your time, or your money. If you're comfortable with that, you can stop reading now. But if you prefer businesses that actually care, or at the very least pretend to care, then I wouldn't recommend automotive excellence.They've been my mechanic for a while and I paid with the same card I've used for years without issue. This time they told me it was declined and to contact my credit card company. I did, and the credit card company (Citi) told me the payment was authorized and had gone through. I asked if there was any chance it hadn't gone through and they said no, this charge has 100% without a doubt gone through.Automotive excellence didn't believe me, even if I showed them the authorized charge, and they made me wait an hour while they tried to contact the owner to figure it out. For an hour, they told me they were trying to get in touch with the right person, because apparently nobody in the office had any authority to sort out issues like this. I guess the owner doesn't trust employees to handle payment issues and they weren't there when this happened.They could have let me leave and called me in a week if payment didn't go through, after all I had signed promising to pay the amount and I've been a repeat customer for years. They even have other customers who know us, so we would be exceptionally easy to track down if we were truly trying to skip out on paying. But the owner won't trust you no matter how many years you're a customer. All he wants is your money, and he won't compromise, take responsibility for any problems, or offer a discount for treating a customer poorly. I never asked for a discount by the way, I would have been happy with them genuinely looking into this to see why it happened and assure me it wouldn't happen again. But they didn't.The repair itself already took 2 days longer than they said it would but they had to order a part so maybe the delay was out of their control. But after making me wait there for an hour, they required me to write a check or they wouldn't let me leave with my car. I didn't have a check on me so my wife had to bring one (I had walked there so I could drive my car home). They promised to hold the check and wait to see if my credit card payment went through.Well they cashed the check pretty quickly and then my credit card payment went through as expected and as I and Citi told them it would, so now automotive excellence has double my money for the transaction. I had to go back and request a refund in person.When I got my refund, it wasn't for the full amount. They charge a 2% fee on all credit or debit card purchases but apparently they don't refund it by default when something goes wrong. If I hadn't noticed and told them they still owed it to me, they would have kept it.Here's the deal: it seems to me that the owner doesn't trust their employees enough to handle stuff like this, they don't trust their customers even if you've been a regular customer for years, and they aren't willing to do anything to make it up to you when something goes wrong other than explain why it's your fault, your banks fault, the credit card companies fault, etc. Everybody is at fault but them, and they won't do a SINGLE thing to make it up to you. They just don't care.I understand that things like this can happen. What I have a problem with is the way it was handled. It shed a spotlight on just how little the owner of this business cares about their customers time and money when something goes wrong.When I use a smaller business instead of a large one, I expect better customer service and a personal touch, but you won't find that here.The actual staff that work in the office and on your car are very friendly and great at their jobs. I’m big on customer service and everyone was very helpful whenever asked a question. Made suggestions on other minor fixes, without pressing and upselling beyond what I brought my car in for. Finally, the fixes made to the car were exactly what I hoped for, up and running again with no problem. First time taking my car in here and they have immediately earned my trust and confidence they will get the job done at a fair price.

Great place to check out your car before you sell it. Will take you in an emergency and fit you in. Great service and thorough. My go to place in town. Always busy but worth the wait.

This shop is only a few blocks from where I live in Seal Beach, it's easy for me to drop off the car and walk back home. They text when it's ready, so a ten minute walk and I'm there. I find them to be very honest and reliable. Their prices are reasonable, and they don't try to oversell you as is often the case with the dealerships. They have a lot of business, so I highly recommend making an appointment. I always take my car in on Saturdays, so I'm not sure if it's as busy during the week. I highly recommend this shop.

I’ve been coming to Automotive Excellence for about 4 years now, and I’ll continue to ,why? Let me tell you, moving from Whittier to Belmont Shores I needed to find a new trustworthy knowledgeable shop.. that’s not easy. I was lucky to find this shop. I drive allot of miles, my car was coming up on 100k so I needed to make sure it would last another 100k. I’m going on 170k and running like a champ! I recently moved out of the area bout 30 miles away. Tried to find another shop in my area no luck. I’m returning customer of Automotive Excellence. We have been taking our cars to Automotive Excellence since moving from New Jersey to SoCal in 2009. Andrew and Pete are both very good at diagnosing problems, as well as providing recommendations with options if they exist. It’s great to be able to trust that only necessary work is done and at a fair and reasonable price.My only complaint is that the word has spread about them so much, that they’re often booked up two or three days out…testimony as to what an incredible service business they have built.Services: Electrical repair

I called AAA to unlock my 1957 Chevy, Will and Joe took extra care while unlocking my car after I had mistakenly locked my keys in my car. They quickly got it open for me and I was on my way again.

Very professional. Yes, you might get it done cheaper somewhere else but I appreciate the courtesy and the straight talk about my car. After putting up with the dealership while my car was under warranty I was always suspicious about anything brought to my attention that "wasn't covered by the warranty." It's just a relief to be able to bring my car in and know I won't be up-sold.
