Highly recommended! The Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach locations have stellar customer service- being greeted and known by name when I walk in the door is a huge bonus! Extra kudos to Desiree Loehren (Seal Beach) who ALWAYS goes above and beyond and is a pure joy to do business with!

For the past 30 years that I have been a client of Farmers & Merchants Bank, they would have gotten 5 stars from me. In fact, I've referred my clients to them. Today, at the Seal Beach branch, they are lucky to get one star from me. The customer service has deteriorated so much, and today was horrible. I understand they took out the tables in the center for their clients to use, and instead of standing at a counter, they added desks-- all to make it "safer, easier, more friendly". It was none of those things today. And that was accentuated by their employee, Kim. As there isn't an exact "line", I ended up with other customers going ahead of me while I was standing by myself in middle of branch. All while Kim sat in the back, and watched. After I was there for significant amount of time, she finally decided to get up and go to counter, where she offered to take my deposit, but only if I already filled out the deposit slip. Unfortunately, there are no deposit slips in a public spot. She was clearly dismissive and rude to me when I pointed out that I didn't see any deposit slips 'on the floor' (they are next to BACK door, in very dark corner on small stand). She sighed deeply, and scoffingly said she would have to get one for me. Due to her behavior, I stated I really didn't need her to, and walked to small stand at back door. When I was done, she had gone back to a desk and ignored me again. So once more, I stood in middle of bank hoping for someone else to take my money for a deposit. All this makes me feel like the 30 years I've been faithful to FMB was a waste. Certainly, I could go somewhere else where they would show a little more respect for a solid client bringing in a decent deposit. So, does anyone have a good bank to recommend?

This was a really nice Farmers & Merchants bank. Went to use the ATM machine outside. They have 2 parking spots right in front specifically for using the ATM. There was nobody here when I came and I felt very safe here. Will definitely come again.

Before this branch upgraded and built a huge new office, they were operating in a trailer in the parking lot. When they did that they were fantastic! Lots of tellers, nobody kept waiting and I loved it. Now? They are in a cavernous office , and today there were 12 employees wandering around and sitting at their desks and only 3 actually helping customers. That would be bad enough but even those 2 have to take their work to one of the other employees and have them sign off before seemingly EVERY transaction. Horribly slow service... dreadful. The drive through is another laugher, with gas prices being what they are you better be making a substantial deposit to cover the gas you will use being ignored. There are a few nice folks working there, well a couple, but they are grinding through employees now instead of keeping familiar faces like earlier days. If it wasn't such a hassle changing banks I'd move my accounts.

We have been banking with F&M for over 26 years, even through the years they were under Mandatory Oversight by the State Regulators. But now they are getting rid of the Customer Services the used as come-ons to get and retain customers. It is getting to the point of making us look elsewhere for more "customer friendly" service.

I had an account for over a decade. Never charged a monthly fee. Didn't have to worry about checking the monthly statements because why should I. COVID shutdown occurs and one day I decided to look at the most recent statement. The bank, without notifying me, began charging close to $20 a month to have the account. They refused to reverse the charges and said it was my fault for not paying attention to the monthly statements. I was shocked. Their friendly demeanor was all a ruse and the true colors had appeared. I closed the account immediately because they clearly didn't respect me as a customer. Not one bit. Have you ever watched "It's a Wonderful Life"? Remember Mr. Potter? This bank is clearly run by Mr. Potter. No doubt. My money is now with a credit union and my gods there's a world of difference. Don't bother doing busy with these greedy trolls. You'll regret it. Take your money elsewhere.

Really great experience with FMB banks, but had a very pleasurable experience today with Jayson. Was able to deposit checks into our various accounts, he was very friendly, and we even chatted a bit after the transaction. We love the personal service we get at FMB, but today was especially wonderful. Jayson was professional and friendly, and really took care of me. Will be making the Seal Beach branch out more regular office.

I have banked everywhere from all of the big name banks to small credit unions and this is by far the best bank I have ever been with. From every level this is a "can do" bank. I really was tired of the "we can't do that" attitude from every level of banking officers at my previous bank. Al Stone is most likely the reason that this bank runs so well as upper management is usually the cause of bad service at the window and Al is a cut above the rest! Bravo F&M!!!

03/16/2021: Now that I've had some experience, not for me as a primary bank. Nice offices although service does not meet my expectations, I'd rather talk to a robot, nor is online banking adequate, extremely slow and clunky design and multiple days to clear payroll ACH transactions. A bank may offer a slow ACH for free but charge extra for next day ACH. If you like NORMAL faster transfers, use a more efficient bank or broker. Don't let them get away with "2-4" days is the standard." The standard ACH service is next-day.

Zero service here now. ? ZERO!!! Ever since the remodel the service here is super bad! No service at the drive-thru or inside. They just ignore you. I think all their good employees have left now. I am going to start moving most of my money to my credit union if service keeps getting worse ?

I was compelled to close my account today. Realizing FM bank's history and religious values, they have obviously not evolved much. Each year they send their customers a religious Christmas card with an image of Jesus that is not inclusive. Last year, I spoke to the branch manager and advised him that I was shocked to receive the Christmas card because my faith doesn't celebrate Christmas. He said he would bring it up at their leadership meeting. I was never contacted about the outcome. Having received the same religious Christmas card this past year, I decided that FM bank is not worthy of my business. If the leadership team and the Walkers cannot be more inclusive, then I won't bank with them. I understand that their foundational values are important, however, their refusal to acknowledge that their customers are from different faiths is extremely insensitive and offensive to me and many of their diverse customers.
