One of my favorite wineries. Such a hidden gem. The owner was super nice and very fun to chat with. The experience was very relaxing and intimate. Went here with my brother a few years ago and looking to go back next time I'm in the area. I thought I was only a white wine girly but was blown away by the cab!

I booked months in advance because I already knew that we were coming through Sebastopol on our way to bodega Bay in March and David emailed me back upon my inquiry. I did have to call in with my credit card to reserve the spot. Fast forward several months and it is Wednesday at 11 AM. We arrive at Moondance cellars gate but it is closed and there is just a keypad we don't know what to press. I called the number listed on Google maps, but get the machine. Luckily David calls back a few minutes later as he was running a little bit late. He electronically opened the gates for us, and we parked to the left side and walked down to the pond/picnic table. We had two greyhounds with us, and they were thrilled with the horses. David's little dog Mike wasn't so thrilled with the greyhounds, but they all were fine together. There were six of us, but only five of us were doing the tastings. We tasted two whites and two reds at the picnic table, and then we got a revisit our favorite wine as we walked down to the garage area to see the hot rods. We also saw a family of deer in the next winery over. Moondance does not have its own grapes, but there are some vineyards around the property. David was here on his own today as his wife was out and he was happy to hear we had nowhere else to be so we didn't have to rush. He said pared down in life to the things he loves doing, like these tastings. Upon payment time, we went inside to the store/tasting bar/shed and paid for our $25 tastings and the bottles we were taking home. The toilet is in the front of the house. There was a laminated sheet with tasting notes and prices, but David told us to ignore the tasting notes as everybody has individual tastes.

We had a great time wine tasting here for a birthday. We tried several delicious wines and one of our friends became a member. I loved that it was an intimate experience and we were allowed to bring food. They had a great property and even showed us their horses and hot rods. They only take 3 reservations a day and only accept reservations over the phone.

This winery was the cutest, most laid back tasting with the best wine! I booked a private shuttle for 11 people for my birthday and David (the owner) graciously let us all crash his winery. Him and his wife were so welcoming and inviting. We tasted his delicious, award-winning wines then toured the property before snapping some pics and heading on our way after a couple hours but we would've been perfectly happy lounging around there all day. Thanks for a great birthday, David!

Ok, another lovely time spent at Moondance Cellars. We have been in their Wine Club for at least 18 years! David is aMaster Wine maker and all his wines are excellent. The visits to Moondance are always like visiting good friends, very special and heartwarming. When you are in the Sebastopol area make it a priority to make an appointment to visit.

Such a great place. Awsome views and wine. I've always been a 'Reds' only until i tried their Sauvignon Blanc. I'm sold. I can only assume the person who gave them a rating of 1 didn't visit this place. True there is no sign out front but that's by design. This place has a very cool vibe.

Most of my family was visiting California for the first time, and we wanted to find a family-friendly winery, as our age range was from 4 to 68 for the six of us. After searching online, I came across this 5-star reviewed winery and thought it sounded different and interesting. We decided to give it a try, and man, they did not disappoint! David and Priscilla were outstanding hosts! This is not your typical snooty wine tasting. We brought some lunch and sat outside at a picnic bench with amazing scenery, horses, dogs, and really cool cars surrounding us. The kids played with the dogs and ran around while the three adults tasted amazing wine and had even more amazing conversation. Talking to David as he shared his stories with us was like talking to an old friend we’ve known for years. I 100% recommend this winery, both for the wine and for the experience. Thank you for helping us create such wonderful memories! Can’t wait to get our order!

I recently took a trip to the Bodega Bay area with my family. I have been there before but my family had never been there. As part of the trip we wanted to visit a winery/vineyard that was family-friendly and low-key. My wife found Moondance Cellars in the Sebastopol area online and based on the amazing reviews, we decided to give it a shot. It literally felt as if we were visiting a family member and we're hanging out and drinking wine. David and Priscilla were amazing host and my entire family was entertained in some way shape or form. Our ages ranged from my 4 year old daughter to my 68 year old mom. It was great wine, great atmosphere, great conversation and overall great people. Just a truly genuine experience. Thank you for hosting us. Looking forward to getting our shipment of wine!!!Chris Mosquera

Love everything about this place! The wine is top notch. Just top. The Chardonnay is my favorite non-oaked fresh yet creamy perfect elixir for a sunny afternoon. Or as my go-to companion when cooking. Or just to cheer me up.The Pinot has that special something that makes it such a popular grape - when done right. Like at Moondance. And that Cab!? Worth every penny. Explosion of taste. Put it down with a tomahawk steak or NY strip, medium rare, local gras fed beef, and you'll know why CA is such a food Mecca. But it's not just the wines. It's that special unpretentiousness, personal feeling. And yes, the service. It's not having a sign at the gate, not having to pay for a marketing department, not being judged, it's about being welcomed and shown how wine tasting ought to be. Like how it was before they had the $50 tasting fees you put down in Napa, just to have a tiny drop of some tart thing that needs years to mellow. No wonder most folks come as customers and leave as friends. This is a rare experience, authentic and special. We'll be back.

Very weak, don't waste your time here. Whole experience poor from not seeing any sign to pulling up to entrance to checking out winery. Lousy!

First off, if you're expecting a stereotypical snobby tasting experience, you're going to want to find another winery. This is an old school non-showy winery. David and his wife are fantastic. Didn't know what to expect when coming here, but WOW. David obviously loves wine making and really knows what he's doing. White or Red, you can't go wrong here. He only does 3 tastings a day, so you really feel special when you're here enjoying some great wine on a great peace of land surrounded by grapes and horses. I highly recommend anyone to come out and try to be one of the three tastings of the day! Thanks again!

The stars don't lie! Moondance is definitely our kind of winery! Friendly, casual, unpretentious, beautiful, and has great wines. I am so glad I followed my instincts when I found Moondance on yelp and took our out of town friends there on a rainy Sunday. David gave us a friendly greeting and continued to amuse us with his stories. As we heard about the winery's and David's histories, we tasted some delightful wines. Having this one on one experience with the wine maker makes the experience even more special. David took us on a tour of the ranch, including the horses and vintage cars. Our dog was able to wonder around and smell all the wonderful countryside aromas. We, we're looking for the right winery to join and Moondance was the one!

Had the BEST time visiting David and his lovely wife at their winery/farm/car barn on a girl's weekend to Bodega Bay! He only reserves one group at a time so we were treated to personalized service and really enjoyed walking the property on a beautiful day, hearing his amazing history and stories, and most of all, tasting his amazing wine. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much since the winery was far off the beaten path, but all three of us literally LOVED every single wine we tasted! I'm a "red" gal but was blown away by the Chardonnay as well. :) And, his Pinot Noir is one of the best I've had. One of our group ended up joining his wine club, and the rest of us stocked up on several bottles to take home. Highly, highly recommend a visit, especially if you prefer a down-home wine experience rather than posh, fancy, overpriced venues!!

This morning we visited this very unique winemaker David, his faithful dog Mike, his horse Ted and Ted's corral mate who flunked polo pony trials. We sat outside on a picnic bench and listened to David share stories about his full life as he poured some fabulous wines and told their stories. Not your "average" wine tasting experience. We loved it! Book a reservation and see for yourself why Moondance gets five star ratings!
