Shafter Animal Control is a clean shelter in Kern with professional and knowledgeable staff. The people working on site are very accommodating and helpful, offering advice, services and equipment on loan at no cost. Each time visitors have visited the location they find the staff very professional and the animals well cared for. They assist with fostering stray kittens, educating on bottle fed kittens and are sensitive about one that is failing to thrive and may be needed to cross the rainbow bridge. The shelter also is offering area for dogs with a beautiful stafford terrier that can be adopted as an amazing fur baby. People find that the staff know their stuff, responding to needs and help with kennel area needs, even when all the dogs bark and a new dog cries. The office hours may vary day to day, so validate jurisdiction and hours before visiting.

My experience at the Shaffer animal control was heartbreaking for me but they were kind and helpful and I just want to tell them if they read this thank you for everything you did for me and having to let go of my dad's dog being that he'd passed away was very rough😵💫.

Lost my Sunny while on vacation and someone had turned him in. Thank goodness had tags and was chipped. Nick stayed late and waited for me to come get him. Thank you

I just went here for snips spay and neuter program. It was great fast staff was nice instructions were clear
