I needed help with replanting my orchid that my daughter gave me as a gift. I was greeted with a smile by Ms. Vicky. She was definitely a ray of sunshine and gave knowledgeable advice. She knows a lot about plants and different types of soil that your plants can grow and strive. The value of well cared for plants and excellent hands on customer service is superior. This a charming place with great vibes and worth visiting.

One of the best nurseries in the surrounding area! Juliet is a true Nurserywoman. She knows her stuff and has a nice assortment of plants. El Dorado Nursery is a hidden gem and worth a visit or two! Great gifts available for gardeners too!

I'm back. Well actually my main objective this time was to go to Acer Landscape Materials which is located side by side to the El Dorado Nursery. But there is no way I could resist stopping in the Nursery to check out all the beautiful plants. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Pricing is not outrageous. This is one of the few independent owned local nurseries not yet gobbled up by a big franchise. On this past visit, I bought a bell pepper plant and a jalapeño pepper plant. The plants were about 3-4 inches tall and $3.99 each. They were healthy and gorgeous looking. Know it's up to me to keep these gems alive. Ohhh the pressure. They have a large assortment.... they have a bit of everything... succulents, roses, fruit trees, shade trees, houseplants, and seasonal vegetable plants. They also carry plant food, soil, garden decorations, pots, and gardening tools. The setup is rural and rustic but not amateurish. The parking lot is a gravel lot as is the nursery grounds. So leave your high heels at home. Another thing ... that unlike the big box shops, El Dorado Nursery does not have warranties or provide refunds for plants. Plus no dogs are allowed. They wreak havoc on the mental health of the resident chickens.

I recently decided to design my own re-landscape of my yard, which included going through various resources on the Internet and choosing plants. I didn't want to have the same 15 plant varieties in my yard that everyone in my neighborhood seems to have. I spent a lot of time researching and making sure that the plants I selected were appropriate for my zone, but I didn't think about the fact that they might be hard to find when the time came to purchase them. I took bids from several landscapers, and provided each one with my plan and plant list. They all said that when they showed the plant list to their go-to nurseries those people looked at them like they were crazy, and said "I have like 5 of these 40 plant varieties". So I hired one of the landscapers with the intent of providing the plants for him myself. I just had to figure out how to do it. Although a lot of my plants could be ordered over the internet, I quickly discovered that it is very expensive. I came across the website for El Dorado Nursery and thought I would send them my plant list and see if they could help. Chris responded via email and said that they would indeed help me gather the plants on my list. He couldn't get all of them, but was up front about those he didn't think he'd be able to acquire for me. Out of about 150 total plants that I needed Chris was able to supply about 100 of them for me, and I was able to get the rest via another local nursery and the internet. Chris really helped me out, not just with the plant acquisition but with some great advice too. Although it took him about 6-8 weeks he accumulated the plants for me and kept them all in great condition until my landscaper could make it to Shingle Springs to pick them up. I was really impressed with his willingness to take this challenge on, his responsiveness, and his desire to help. I can't recommend him or El Dorado Nursery highly enough!

Really nice stuff here, good selection but you are better off buying at Home Depot or Lowes, where they warranty the plants you buy for ANY period of time. Because this nursery does not offer ANY kind of warranty on their plants. It's always the "owners error".

El Dorado Nursery is my go-to gardening spot. I have been shopping there for years. For a smaller garden supplier they have a great selection of plants, from trees to flowers. They also have quality soils and amendments available. While places like Home Depot and Lowes are less expensive, they also carry many plants that do not do well in El Dorado County's climate. If you don't check the planting zones or know what will work in EDC, you could potentially lose all of your plants when the first frost hits. I appreciate the knowledge the EDNG employees have. They are always happy to answer my questions. I am so glad to have this nursery in Shingle Springs!
