I been going to Big Q for several years for my major car repairs and I highly recommend the place. The shop is open 7 days a week and including Sunday which helps out a lot since I work M-F. Please see Mike for any issues.

Highly recommend! Most places would try to up charge you for every little thing. Newton and Mike educated me on what they were inspecting, I'm grateful for the time they took to do that it was a great experience. They also caught a leak in my rear shocks and recommended I contact the dealer since my car was so new and it should be under warranty (which it was) Thanks again guys! I look forward to bringing my baby bronco to you in the future knowing we're in good hands

I originally went here awhile ago to have my car looked at before I went on a road trip. I had a good experience with an older guy who looked at my car for free, and told me to come back to fix my spark plugs for a reasonable price. Car maintenance isn't a priority for me, so it took me about ten months to go back. The older guy wasn't there anymore and there's a new, younger person in charge. I got quoted much more for the spark plugs this time. I figured ok, it's 2023. Things just cost more. But then the new manager, Mike, told me I would also need to replace my PCV valve. He kept telling me to look it up because he went on long explanations about why I needed the PCV valve changed along with the spark plugs, and other car maintenance stuff. In fact, I told him I believed him in hopes that he would stop trying to sell me on the extra services. I just wanted new spark plugs. Eventually he took my keys to look at my engine but he wasn't gone long enough to do more than pop the hood and glance at it, if that. He printed me out a quote upon my request and told me they could do it today. I said I'd be calling a couple of other shops to see what they quote me, and he looked annoyed, said OK, and walked away. I wasn't sure if our interaction was done so when he came back to the counter a few minutes later, I asked him if there was anything else we needed to do. I called another shop and am happy I didn't service my car at Big Q. The parts cost the same but the labor was at least half, and they didn't try to upsell me. I don't want a pushy rep to sell me unnecessary products, nor do I appreciate a short-sale and aggressive attitude. I'm willing to bet I get a long message from the owner arguing against my experience, because that seems to be what they do for every negative review. Trust your own gut; mine told me no and I'm glad I listened.

I didn't actually end up using their services, but that's only because they were so incredibly informative and honest and it turned out what I thought was a major problem was actually very trivial and easily taken care of with a Google search and some initiative on my part, saved me a nice chunk of change.

Everyone is always looking for an honest mechanic, I used to be that guy. Now for me Big Q is the guy! 2009 GMC Sierra HYBRID - No start after 12V battery died.I was doing everything I could NOT to take my truck to the dealer. I was a tech for over 25 yrs. and have never taken any car to get fixed somewhere since I've always taken care of it myself. Unfortunately, this time I didn't have the tools (scanner) required to fix it this time around.I chose this business because of their willingness to look into the issue and location since I had to have my truck towed there.Michael was honest, to the point and provided me with his game plan. He let me know that the diagnostic fee ($170, cheapest in LB) and would also go towards repairs and if they couldn't figure out how to fix it there was no charge. I was SOLD!Ultimately, the issue was a fail safe for the hybrid system and Michael was able to troubleshoot and reset the module, getting my truck back on the road in less than a days time.I will say a closer neighborhood shop was my first choice but he wanted to charge me 20% more just to look at my truck and then ultimately advised me to take it to the dealer, NOPE!Their prices are the best in town, believe me I called everywhere. They're honest, they took care of my issue effectively and with expediency. I'm impressed and if I ever have something go wrong that I don't have the ability to fix again I'll be returning.

Yeah, I made the mistake of going here alone as a woman. I was dumb and desperate enough where I paid some ridiculous amount for break replacement. ALSO, I took it back because the breaks were still screeching. The guy got in my car and drove it while I was in there and said "I don't hear anything." And that's it, no examination nothing. I just wanted to get out of there so I did. That's not even the traumatizing part of the story. I left my car there and had to go to work. A friend was supposed to pick it up for me but she became unavailable. I called and tried to pay but my card kept getting declined (I found out later that it was for security reasons). The man started getting very hostile with me and assumed I didn't speak Spanish and started shit talking me to someone else he was with. I was frantic because obviously I didn't have my car. HE LEFT MY KEYS IN THE TIRE. he said he couldn't keep it there overnight so he put my fucking keys in the rim for me to pick up later. I would have been there the second they opened. He had my car obviously I would have paid. I HATE writing bad reviews. I was obviously clueless about car matters which I should've known better. But wow apart from the bill...that was a horrible day.No I don't want anything back or an apology or an explanation. Girls just be more cautious and well prepared than I was. I'm a college student and dropping over a grand and being disrespected about it was definitely a punch in the gut.Note: yes he knew I was leaving my car there until my friend was to pick it up. It's not their fault she bailed but man, have a little compassion I was working 60 hours a week to pay for school I couldnt leave work. Maybe that's not their problem but did a grown man have to get so aggressive towards me? Probably not.

Brought my 2017 VW Jetta into this place and they did not disappoint. My AC had been blowing hot air and Daniel was on it. Extremely honest and affordable, did the recharge and had my AC working good as new. This place is an example of how auto shops should be ran. Thanks guys!

Was hearing some grinding around my front right axle. I went in to Big Q because it was close to my house. They said I needed four new brake pads, new rotors and new brake fluid since apparently my fluid failed the strip test. That's weird... I got my brake fluid changed in October, as well as a full tune-up and inspection with a reputable mechanic. I think he would've told me if I needed $800 worth of repairs... Also, I've driven on worn-down brake pads before, really bad ones in my younger years when I couldn't afford replacements. My brakes work perfectly, so this was fishy. The grinding also stopped the next day, without any repairs. I went back to my original mechanic in Los Alamitos to get a second opinion and... you guessed it. All four of my brake pads are perfectly fine. I don't need to get a single one replaced. It was my power steering fluid, which I got changed for around $150. Also, $850? That's how much it costs to get brand-new brake pads on a Porsche Cayenne. These people are either scammers or have zero knowledge of cars. Either way, stay away.

My family was making a big move to NorCal when we found out my wheel bearings had gone. Big Q was the most responsive auto shop and communicated everything throughout the repair. The work was done well and quick (under 3 hours)! And the technician drove with me in my car to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Solid place if you're needing a repair.

New to Long Beach and was in need of oil change. Gave this place a try and for my experience, it certainly wasn't a bad one at all. Came in and the lady at the front desk helped me initially. She got my information and told me about the prices for the oil change. I was shocked at first due to my car not being fancy at all and just needs the regular stuff. The initial price was quite high and made me want to check out another place. Another gentleman came in and talked me about the different oils and such. After working out the logistics he was kind enough to provide me with some breaks on the oil change which made it a bit easier on my wallet for my old car. The oil change took longer than expected even with the upsell that gave me during their inspection (Replaced my engine air filter from their recommendation). I was only going to give 3 stars but after talking to the gentleman who really worked with me and was not being a DBag. Had a nice talk with him after all the services and questions I had. Giving it an extra star. Thanks Big Q Auto Repair!
