I had a problem getting a package delivered to my house. It was a birthday gift. I touched base with Mitch's and to my surprise, they came out of their way to hand deliver the gift!!! What an incredible gesture and customer service that you rarely see. Plus the t-shirt was great quality. Thanks Mitch's!

Billy was very nice and extremely helpful. He helped me box up my 8 foot surfboard very efficiently and made my move back to the North bay so much easier! Cannot say enough praise for the staff. Thank you

Big fan of supporting local surf shops Like Mitch's (as I have for many years) but last time I went they were completely indifferent when I walked in. There were two guys sitting in chairs in the shop watching TV and chatting. One guy looked right at me when I walked in and looked away. The other eventually said hi. Neither asked if I needed any help at all. I needed a new LB fin and a new winter suit. I guess they don't need the business. So I went up to Oceanside where you can still find small REAL local shops that appreciate your business. If you want to support small local business support those who appreciate the support.

I have been trying to hunt down a very particular surfboard for quite some time and never was able to find anything close. I was in San Diego for work and decided to drive up and give Mitch's Shop a look. I prefer shops that specialize in hand shaped boards and Mitch's stocks a bunch of local shapers. Billy at the North shop spent the time to talk to me and helped me pick out a Michael Miller. The next day I rode the board on some thigh high waves and it lived up to my expectations. I'm looking forward to riding it in some size, a big open face and eventually some tubes because I can tell that this board is going to light up. Thank you to Billy for hooking me up with 'the board'.

Extremely horrible customer service. The lady behind the counter was beyond rude. I do not recommend going here.

This is my favorite local surf shop! The hospitality and genuine love to spread the stoke is what I dig the most! I called like 30 min before shop closed and asked to see 2 boards. They had the ability to turn me away but they didn't! Loraine invited me down. I showed up right at close. Man I hate that feeling! Being the guy that shows up at close, they weren't even phased by it.I met Loraine and Justin when I entered. Justin was awesome! He got the boards laid out for me and allowed me to chose. He answered my few questions and gave some great advice on accessories. The shop was laid out really nice and there were a variety of accessories to choose from. I chose the Takayama In the Pink retro color over the red because of the dimensions.Justin guided me through getting everything I needed from extra side fins, board bag, car rack pads, tie downs and of course basecoat and wax! It prob took about 15 min for me to get in and out that's because of the awesome teamwork and hospitality they provide.I would recommend them to anyone to visit and shop local. It's an amazing small family business!Thank you so much for your hospitality and awesome vibe!Matt

I've purchased many items here over the years, but never a surfboard. Now I know why. I stopped by the other day because they had a board in stock that interested me. I was greeted by the very friendly front desk staff. However, that was the end of my positive experience. I found the board I was looking for and pulled it from the rack. Out of nowhere appeared a grumpy older man who immediately admonished me for handling the merchandise. I put the board back, apologized, and tried to make a joke to lighten the mood. That didn't work. The scowling continued. What's worse, the old, crotchety thing started badmouthing the board I was looking at. I'm sure neither the store nor the shaper (who is local) would appreciate that. I immediately departed. Surf Ride is 100 yards south and they are always friendly and helpful. Every other shop in town has been a positive experience for me. Plus, Mitch's surfboard stock is ridiculously overpriced. Plenty of other quality surfboards on the rack in other shops....without the extra helping of death stare. There's enough negativity in the world. We don't need any inside a surf shop. My Karma and cash will be spent elsewhere. Sorry, Mitch's.

Great people work here. Came in for a daily board rental Billy and Loraine helped me out. So nice and great customer service. No hassle daily rental and great rate. Super accommodating and will definitely be back. 10 / 10 would recommend to a friend.

Extremely disappointed in mitchs surf shop. Saw your Instagram videos and drove down to check out the shop only to be shunned away. Not letting customers in your shop is a REALLY bad look for you as the country is trying to open up and get back to normal. I was looking forward to checking out the shop but now I’ll boycott for life. Don’t advertise that you’re open for in store shopping if you’re really not.
