One of the important places in Solvang to visit. They have free entry. If you are interested in the history and culture of the Danish town. They have amazingly welcoming host. They tell you about the Solvang and Danish culture. There is art gallery where they have some beautiful paintings. You can easily walk from the downtown and no need to take car.

You must visit the museum when visiting Solvang. The entry is FREE! You can learn Danish culture and how they came to create this village in the 1800.You can appreciate a little bit of what they show in the useful in some of the pictures I shared. It is so beautiful inside and out the architecture in the house is amazing. You can ask the front desk any questions you might have and they have the answers. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very peaceful.

It was a beautiful home. The museum was a small peak into what it might have been like in a home representing Danish culture in the Solvang area. There was a lot of history of Solvang that I learned in this museum. The person who worked there and greeted us was very informative and seemed excited about talking about the history of the family who built this house and the community of Solvang.I would recommend as a better way to understand that town in addition to shopping and wine tasting.

Charming original house made without nails which contains a museum of local history. It’s a few blocks from town (walkable) There is plenty of parking. And the little side building has a delightful model of the original town. Well worth the visit.

I was told about this gem in Solvang by an artist at the Book Loft and I'm so glad she did. You must see this place in person to understand how beautiful it is. I loved how you have to pull on the latchstring to open the door, something I've never seen before. The woman working that day was very kind and very informative. She gave me a lot of information on the house. I will be going back.

An interesting little museum in a house built like Danish houses of the early 20th century. The museum presents some Danish history, personal stories of Danish immigrants, the founding of Solvang, and a miniature model of the town about 100 years ago in a seperate tiny house in the backyard. Artwork, cabinets, and a re-creation of life with historical artifacts are in several rooms. A beautifully carved, heavy front door wecomes visitors willing to take the time to find this out-of-the-way little gem. Donations accepted but not required.

A must visit! From the buildings architecture to the fantastic staff, the passion for Solvang and Danish heritage is so obvious. They have a very knowledgeable staff, it's a great way to learn about Solvang and Denmark, and a great free way to enjoy your time in this freaking adorable town (but dont forget to donate at least $5!). The staff surprisingly answered all the weird questions that came to my ADD addled brain, taught me some Danish, offered personal insight as well as facts, and were just so excited to discuss and share with us. The museum/ house is so cute and filled with tons of antiques that tell great stories and teach so much. Not only is the house/ museum adorable and informative, but their shop is filled with authentic and unique items. No scented candles, soaps, or magnets here. Honestly, we ended up getting most of our souvenirs from here. There's a great, unique book selection and most of the items are from Denmark and other countries. I had fun searching for the Nisser with the best personality and ended up getting one that looked like Gandolf the Gray (Nisser= holiday gnomes that bring presents to those who treat animals well- I learned that here and now I'm even more obsessed). Overall great experience and wish I had more time there. Shout-out to the ladies working Sunday 12/11/22 evening, they did a fantastic job!

Dutch is LifeLocated in the former house of painter and sculptor Viggo Brandt-Erichsen and his wife, Martha Mott (who was also an accomplished painter and art teacher), the Elverhøj (pronounced "Elverhoy") Museum is a really unique place that looks to teach visitors about the history of Solvang, celebrate Danish culture, and to promote art and artists. The Good:*Free parking and free admission, but they do have a $5/ea suggested donation. Unfortunately, I was a little shy since I don't generally carry much cash, but they don't really hold you to it. I would like to suggest to the people running the Elverhøj to maybe get a Venmo account or something to allow visitors to make an electronic donation. *The building itself is really unique and beautiful to look at. *Speaking of unique, Brandt-Erichsen and Mott were true artists and designed every element in the place even down to the door hinges. Really try and pay attention to the small details they included in everything. *Small art room with a rotating display of local artists*Gift shop to purchase all kinds of Danish themed bric-à-brac.*Volunteers/employees were all really nice and gave us a quick tour of the place and easily answered any and all of our questions. The Meh:*The back garden area was a little underwhelming. To be fair, it was late fall when we visited, so maybe it's more spectacular in the spring. The Ugly:*Not really a gripe, as it is what it is, but definitely not the biggest museum I've ever visited. TLDR: If you're visiting Solvang, then this is definitely worth a quick stop as you can be in-and-out in well less than an hour.

This museum (house) is a must see if you're planning on visiting Solvang. I was privileged enough to visit on Monday the 17th of October 2022. The host/tour guide Kirsten was so very knowledgeable about this house as well as about the history of Solvang. She knew every little detail about every portion of the house. She explained to me such details about how the front door was designed and then carved, the history of the little statue in the front garden, the construction of the immaculate kitchen, among many other things. Her knowledge was so in depth and massively extensive. She explained the founding and history of Solvang with a level of detail that rivals what one would see in a well-made documentary on the Learning Channel. I could tell how proud she was of the culture and the history of both the house as well as the sleepy little tourist town in which it's located. She was also fluent in Danish. This museum/house is a bit removed from the main touristy street, but it's so worth the visit!

Awesome museum about Solvang in a building that was not built with nails. It's very difficult to find because it's in a residential area, not in the main part of the city. The closest building is the fire department station.Anyways back to museum itself, it has kept almost everything intact from the previous owners, and the volunteers are happy to explain a lot about the house's history and Solvang iteself. Totally recommend visiting this museum!
