The staff here is amazing and so kind!! But the online banking system is a 0/10. Everything is being pushed to being online nowadays and this online banking system in particular is not up to par with other banks. I get logged out of my account in seconds if I press the wrong thing... and I am not hitting log out. The system also cannot be reached unless I am on a computer and at that point it is still glitchy. I do not recommend just because of the online banking but in all other areas they are a 10/10.

Worst customer service ever and they don’t share information such as whether funds are available on a check written, with other banks, causing unnecessary lengthy holds to be placed. Chase Bank claims it’s very unusual for a bank to not share info with other Banks but Montecito Bank does not. why?

I have been a customer of Montecito Bank for over 20 years. They handle my loans and private checking accounts and have an excellent wealth management team and trust department. Montecito Bank and Trust give back to the community, and these 1-star reviews read like someone has a personal vendetta and are very misleading. MBT is voted the #1 bank every year and has a loyal customer base.

I have been banking with Montecito Bank and Trust for almost 21 years now. Monica and Melanie always call me or email me personally to help me take care of something on my account. They don’t miss a beat! This is the easiest thing to work with when you need extra help with business checking ideas and transferring funds last minute, etc. I set up personal checking accounts for my children there already and they are not even five years old yet. Best experience ever!!!

This is probably the worst local bank institution. I've been a member since 2013. It has always very difficult to do things like access my account online or do mobile deposits. After upgrading their website from the 90s, customers including myself continue to have issues. Recently, I wrote a check for myself using the standard Montecito Bank and Trust check to deposit to another account. Note, both name and account number are fillable. After correctly writing the account number, I was charged a NSF. Although I had the funds in the account. I stopped by in person and the clerk confirmed the account number was correct. And was not sure why that had happens. She told me she could not refund me the full NSF fee but could maybe split it with me. I really though this was some kind of joke. She explained that where you open your account originally is where the branch manager decides the amount of the fee and if they will provide a refund. All the locations operate under Montecito Bank & Trust but the policies and regulations implemented are up to the specific manager in that branch. So if you open a bank account in Santa Barbara and move to Solvang you'll have to drive or call your original branch to discuss any fees. I do not recommend you wasting your time with this bank if you're looking for good customer service, mobile deposits or a user friendly website.

TL;DR DO NOT BANK WITH THESE YAHOO"S. Better off burying your money in a tin can in the back yard, at least you know where your money is. I moved to Santa Ynez and opened an account at this branch to facilitate paying my rent as my new landlord uses this branch in particular. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would bank with such an institution. I have had nothing but problems with these people. From losing money out of my account, admitting they lost it, and then taking 3 months to find it only to tell me that I should have screen shotted the original amount when it happened.....What in the actual F?!?!? Did you just tell me that I need to prove my account balance to you? And via screen shot from my phone? (In that case, give me 20 minutes, I'm gonna photoshop some money into my account, see what you think of that.) Your also telling me you cannot follow the money via my transactions? And you mean to tell me as a college graduate, you're unwilling to do the hard math and crunch some numbers to help a client out? Well fortunately I have an aptitude for numbers(Electromechanical Engineer). So I did your job for you and crunched the numbers to prove that my account is $3000 shy.......Not hard to see in my opinion. That was just one instance. Every morning around 3am, my account cycles to the previous days lowest balance, even if I've transferred money into the account to cover bills and rent and whatever. Once it cycles the other charges conveniently go through. Fortunately since these people suck at online banking, I don't get charged with OD fees. But it is concerning watching your account go from $$$$$$$ to $ and then back to $$$$$$$ a day later. Their website is atrocious and is constantly asking me to two factor authenticate even though I've clicked on I use this browser regularly, remember me. Nope, not gonna happen, remember me on this browser? No way Jose. I brought these things to their attention and was told I would get a follow up email to discuss matter.......crickets is what I hear. No contact, eye or otherwise. I transfer money between my three accounts (main, travel, and joint), it shows the transaction, on both accounts, but the balance of each account will stay the same for up to a day later. Electronic banking isn't that hard at this level, but Montecito Bank and Trust sure do make it seem like they are the union guy on the job site. They want to be on the job, but doesn't doesn't know their a** form their elbow. Not my usual interaction with any financial institution. Usually they hop to. Usually they want my money. Usually the banks are more than happy to help out a customer and figure out whats going on with the accounts. Here I've been told that it is what it is, better to just roll with it.......Fck That. Get your s*** together MBT. I am unimpressed with their "customer service", knowledge of their own system, or lack there of, and they still can't offer personal credit cards. Not that I need one, but hell any fool institution worth their salt can offer you credit....
