To start with, I find that Dr Miller and his team provide excellent veterinary services. However, I do have 2 comments re a recent visit.1. We brought our dog in for some dental work, and while they did provide us with an estimate, I was shocked to see the $1400 charge for 4 teeth extractions. This was way above the charges for other dental work done we had done at another Veterinary clinic.2. It would have been nice for someone to have made a f/u phone call to check on the dog's health the next day. (Our dog was listless and out of it for over 24 hours and we were somewhat concerned). In short, we still recommend Soquel Creek Animal hospital

Excellent vet and competent, polite, knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend Dr. Miller. He does not guilt clients for unnecessary and highly profitable tests that the corporate vets do - Google reader, try taking your pet to a corporate vet hospital and see for yourself. You aren’t going to find a more reasonable vet than Dr. Miller. He is a man of integrity, hard to find these days.

The staff and Doctor were friendly, competent and caring with our dog. That said, it would have been a better experience for us if I could've accompanied our pet into the building for the appointment

Dr. Miller has been my Vet for years, but I have had a terrible experience with him and I will never go back. My 9yr. old , 6 lb. healthy support dog hurt her foot and it was swollen so I took her in to see him. Since covid you cannot go in the building so a tech takes your dog in and brings her back to my car. The tech says Dr. Miller wants to give her an anti-inflammatory med. for the pain and swelling. I gave her the 1/2 pill dose as directed on the bottle and my dog stopped eating and got very ill. I stopped the med. and call Dr. Millers office. The tech talked to him and said to bring her in, and he gave her 2 shots, one to increase her appetite and one for anti-nausea plus 6 cans of a special dog food and 2 other packs of meds. for her. He never said to take her to emergency, even though she looked so sick so when I left his office. I left his office and immediately took her to emergency where she died within hours of kidney failure. The next day I looked up the medicine she was taking on the internet. It said that " Galliprant 20mg" SHOULD NOT be given to any dog less then 8 pounds, and my dog was 6 lbs. The dose chart for this drug said that 1/2 pill which was what my dog was prescribed, was the dose for an 8lb to 15 lb. dog. It also said that an overdose wilI result to kidney and or liver failure. I kick myself for not looking up the info. of this drug BEFORE I gave it to her. I took my baby in for a sore foot because I did not want her in pain and now she is dead from an overdose that put her in kidney failure. What doctor prescribes medicine without looking at the right dose plus she should NOT have been that drug at all for her size. I confronted Dr. Miller and he admitted that the dose was at least twice as much as it should have been. He said it was a misjudgment. If a Medical doctor did what Dr. Miller did, they would be facing legal action for wrongful death. I think what Dr. Miller did was negligent and egregious and unforgivable. He saw her and knew how sick she was, but he just kept pushing the drugs and raising his bill, with no sense of urgency. He was to help my little girl and instead he killed her. He is 100% responsible to give her the RIGHT MEDICINE and the RIGHT DOSE and that is why I am writing this so that others can beware. I am lost without my support dog and I am sick with sorrow and grief, and now I am on meds to help me handle the loss of losing my best friend and companion. I also feel a lot of guilt for not looking up the med. BEFORE giving it to her and guilt for administering poison to her of 4 days on his directions, and he wanted me to give it to her for 14 days. Dr. Miller and his practice has really gone downhill ! I suggest finding a new Veterinarian that pays attention to what he is doing......SORE FOOT TO DEATH ?... HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN ? I am heartbroken and all he could say was " sorry it was a misjudgment ", What is going on that he isn't paying attention to what he is doing??? I AM SO ANGRY ! And of course, I also have his bill And the emergency bill on my credit card to still pay off. No Companion, No Best Friend, NO LOVE .... JUST BILLS for killing my 6 lb.sweet and loving pet. She was a Doctors Registered support dog, that I needed for my emotional and medical conditions. I am devastated and totally lost without her......

The care and attention we received from Soquel Creek Animal Hospital was excellent. Covid protocol was followed and the staff very knowledgeable. We all have to be patient during these unusual times of limited personal contact and changing emergencies. We have been with Dr Miller for over seven years with our two dogs and have never been disappointed.

We love Dr Miller and team. They always take great care of our kitty cat. The whole team is super nice and professional. We recently had an appointment and they were very clever with covid protocols.

This is the best veterinary hospital in Santa Cruz!!!Everyone was so friendly, professional and Covid aware. The service was quick and thorough. They kept my thoughts in mind, let me make my own decisions and no pressure to do unnecessary procedures. Extremely fair prices at least in my opinion. I would recommend this hospital for anyone who has pets!

Having been a client of Dr. Miller for a couple of years, I would not recommend this veterinarian. While he did initially identify and successfully treat my cat's flea allergy, which had alluded other vets, I have felt for quite some time that the treatment at the hospital is sub par, especially given how much they charge for their services. For one, the reception staff have a high turnover. They seem inexperienced and untrained. They often forget something basic like returning a credit card or including care instructions. Once, they gave me the wrong prescription and I didn't notice it until I got home. No one even bothered to apologize when I was forced to return for the right one. Just a general lack of professionalism there. But the thing that bothers me more is the constant up-selling by Dr. Miller and his veterinarian assistants. It always makes me question which of their suggestions is important for my cat and which is just good for their bank account. Not a good feeling when I want to be able to just trust in their knowledge and experience. I finally realized it was time to look for a new vet was when I discovered they had been charging me $132 for a flea repellent I could by online for $55. I felt duped, and realized the perennial smirk on Dr. Miller's face wasn't just my imagination. I think I can find a better veterinarian.

My puppy and older dog absolutely loved them and they’re quick to judge people! They take such good care of the dogs that I am not worried at all (being COVID times i can’t be with them) not being in the office with them. Will continuing going for check ups and shots!

Was not impressed with this vet. My cat has gotten fleas and worms here and I keep feeling like I'm getting upsold on a bunch of things we don't need. And they keep requiring I drag my him down there every 3-6 months for more bloodwork. My cat is 18 with IBD and has explosive accidents every time I take him in the car. So, I'm not exactly keen on doing that. On my last visit, I had hope... I brought him in for a check-up and to renew his medication (the same medication he's been on for 6 years). The vet recommended another expensive blood test and I explained my hesitation with doing any more. We've already spent thousands of dollars in recent years dealing with and diagnosing his issue. We know what he has and no blood test is going to change his diagnosis. My cat is showing all the signs that he's in his final months. I expected the next time I bring him in will be the very last time (if you know what I'm saying). Even if we found out that he had some other condition, it's not like we're going to dump a bunch more money into treatment. We're getting close to the end here. I told the vet all of that, and that I just wanted enough medication to keep him comfortable at home until we bring him down for his final visit... and I give him 3-6 months tops. The vet actually agreed this time and told me bloodwork wasn't necessary and sent me on my way... Well he only refilled a month and half worth of the medication and now required that I bring my cat back in for bloodwork. I battled with them on the phone about it, and they agreed to a refill... but then they later refused to approve it through the pharmacy. I had to call when my cat was basically out of drugs for them to admit that they refused to work with my pharmacy anymore. They couldn't give me a heads up? No, they were just going to ignore the requests while I'm sitting here expecting the meds to arrive any day in the mail. They wanted me to buy it through their practice (3 times more expensive). I went down and asked for the paper prescription in person and mailed it into my pharmacy myself. Meanwhile, my cat is without meds and having accidents all over the house. After all that, I see that I only got another 1.5 months worth and no refills!!! I called and it's because they're still expecting that I drag him down to the vet for more bloodwork. I've had it with this vet and their staff. We've taken our cat to another vet who believes in palliative care and has been wonderful and sensitive to everything my cat has gone through and what he needs going forward in his final days.

Anyone looking for a new vet should be looking for professionalism, compassion, and competency, and that's not what I found in this office. My experience with this vet was like the typical doctor who's all about the money. He spends as little time as possible with you, then its cha ching, cha ching, on to the next. There was a total lack of professionalism in handling basics. On November 25th I took my 16 year old cat Henry there to look at a small tumor or cyst on his neck. Dr. Miller spent less than five minutes with us and said, well it could be benign, and it could be malignant. Then he disappeared and sent his staff in with an estimate of $600 for the tests to find out. No discussing options/time frames, just, here's the price to move forward with me. It was like he would only talk to me if I spent $600 on tests. On December 16th, NOT EVEN A MONTH later, we brought our precious Henry in again, because the tumors had multiplied, he had dropped weight, and he was acting strange. There was a "relief" vet who saw him then, apparently Dr. Book was on vacation, and she diagnosed, by feeling the tumors, that it was likely a sarcoma, an aggressive cancer. He was dying. We were in shock, and started to cry a little in the office. She said, I'll give you a minute to consider if you want to euthanize tonight, and then I'll come back and we can discuss all your options. Just like with Dr. Miller, she didn't come back in to discuss anything. She sent staff in with an estimate for some painkillers and appetite stimulants. We were in shock, barely able to comprehend what was happening. So we paid the $160 for the medicine. At check out we asked the receptionist about the cost for euthanasia, and she gave us a verbal estimate which turned out to be totally wrong. We did not receive any formal printed estimate from the doctor. Henry didn't last another day. He was suffering so badly, he needed to be put down asap. We called first thing the next morning to schedule a home visit. The receptionist booked our visit and asked if we would like a private or group cremation, and gave us the pricing for that. She said we didn't have to decide right away. Later that day, just hours before the scheduled euthanasia, I called to inform them that we would like the private cremation. It was AT THAT TIME that she gave me the official estimate of the euthanisation procedure, something like $750. Not when we asked the night before. Not when we called to schedule in the morning. When it was only hours away from happening, and Henry was suffering. So with my cat dying on the floor next to me, at the last possible minute and through tears, I called around to find another vet to handle the euthanasia. I was so angry at how Dr. Miller and his office had handled the whole situation, from not giving me any opportunity to ask questions, to the lack of accurate communication about the costs involved. I did not want this person in my home during those final moments with Henry. We put Henry down with another vet who we had never met before, a complete stranger, but it was better than having it done by Dr. Miller.

About 5 years ago, I came to Dr. Miller with my sweet King Charles Cavalier, Vandy, for a second opinion concerning her hearing loss and heart murmur. He and his staff, especially, Marci, are so nice and compassionate. Dr. Miller helped keep our little "princess" comfortable and able to continue her "dog life" this past year, as she struggled with CHF. Thanks to Dr. Miller, up until the day she recently passed in her sleep, she had a good quality of life, even though her health was declining. I will never forget their professionalism and kindness during this difficult time. Dr. Miller's prices are very reasonable and fair. I always knew ahead of time what treatments would be done and the cost. If something had to get added to her treatment that day, I would always get a call or a text from Marci, so there would be no surprises. I would not go to any other vet with my pets.

About a year ago I came in with my dog who was very very sick. With the help of the vet, we were able to figure out exactly how to help him in the fastest, safest, and most effective way possible. His knowledge and compassion know 0 limits! Definitely one of the best vets I've been too. I do agree with the pricing list being slightly "salsey" but I don't think the vet is in charge of that. They offer to many options and I found it very easy cross things off that I didn't want/couldn't afford.
