Not a good school if you want your child to actually learn and be challenged. Overcrowded classes, not enough teachers, not enough staff, (councilors and principal) don't care about each student and their learning needs or a plan. PE equipment (tennis) broken. A lot of teachers are frustrated and some long over due for retirement. They are a few years behind a good school. If you can afford a private school, send your kids there, so they will be prepared for college. Or, look into alternative programs. Why wait til they go to college?

Today there was a wrestling game for League title. At the end when the youth were getting their metals they called everybody down to get either a first or second Place metal in their weight class and a photo. There were some girls that played against each other. They were called down and given a medal. And after a few minutes they were called down again to return the metal. From there on all the boys got metal and the girls were just called down to take a picture but no metal was given for their second or first placement. The youth cheered for the girls to receive a medal. But nothing was done.

Soquel High School is the last place that I would recommend any students to attend. The faculty/staff does not show any empathy towards students feelings, nor academic/emotional needs. My experience as a student here has absolutely traumatized me and ruined my high school potential due to the fact that it is such a negative and strict learning environment. Aside from a few select classes and teachers Soquel does not promote individuality, creativity among students, and the teachers certainly do not know how to get everyone in the classroom feeling involved and motivated in lessons. I would highly recommend to attend Santa Cruz High School rather than Soquel.

Best school ever! I had such a fun last year here, gonna miss it so much. The teachers and staff were great and so friendly, the students treat each other well from what ive seen and experienced, not much drama compared to other schools.

Great school with some exceptions. I spent four years at Soquel under some truly wonderful and knowledgeable teachers including Jim Stewart (Music), Mrs. Ferejohn (History), Mr. Valladolid (History), Mr. Sidens (Chemistry). The music department is the best in the county with both the A Jazz band and Varsity band taking home gold in competitions. My only gripe with the school was the math department, particularly with a old geometry teacher who never taught, but would pretend to when the county came in. Im not even sure if he is around anymore. Would I send my kids here in the future? Yes.
