We LOVED this place. We had snow, plus the beautiful lake, it was amazing. It’s also close to everything. We loved our stay, and our service dog enjoyed swimming in the lake. The restaurants/bar are good with good food and service. Unfortunately on our last night all fire pits ran out of propane and we weren’t able to make our s’mores, but things happen! The daily s’mores kits were great, plus coffee or hot chocolate in the lobby. And the fireplace in the room? Ugh Loved it. Will definitely stay again!

Excellent location and not too far from the nightlife of Nevada/Cali State lines! Loved the view we had for the 2nd floor! If you can pick, request building B room 210!! Amazing view we had as shown in the pic attached!! Highly recommend to stay here!!

We stayed recently over the Thanksgiving weekend and were very satisfied. Were able to check in early with Liz and she was super welcoming and helpful to us. Thanks Liz. Room is clean and cozy with propane fireplace to keep you warm all night. Great location lakeside with private beach and lakefront restaurant. Hotel also has heated pool and hot tub. Over all a great place to stay with lots of nearby restaurants and activities. Highly recommended.

The hotel is situated perfectly on the lake! Grocery store and coffee and sandwich shop across the street, so convenient location. The rooms are a bit dated, but that’s just a matter of taste. The check-in staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. Beds were very comfy. Our only complaint is that our shower leaked and the floor would be soaking by the time we got out of the shower. Already planning a girls’ weekend for next fall!

Just wanted to say that the whole experience was outstanding. Took a trip up for my birthday and was welcome with great people. Liz at the front desk values customer service and was very helpful answering our questions. The retreat had beautiful views and had plenty to do during our stay.Nearby activities: Beach, swimming, boating.Walkability: Plenty of things to do including retail places to shop.Food & drinks: Great place to have drinks at the dock!

Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.Things to note:1. I stayed during the week, so I can't speak wknd experiences and when more crowded. Please note that there is a bar on site, so that means drunk people. I experienced an altercation on the beach on a wed, so be prepared for that. I didn't mind, cause as stated, what do you expect with a bar on site. Also check the website for things to be closed, like the on site restaurant. Part of why I booked there, but it was closed the days I was there ha It was on their website though. So double check :)2. I didn't mind my room. I had better for the price, but also had worse. But everything worked, and I had a beautiful view. The rooms are carpet which I don't love, as who knows when those get cleaned in hotels in general. So I just wore my flip flops.3. Negative review: the front staff are not very friendly and barely explained anything as you can see in other posts about no elevator. There is one, but if you don't walk back down to ask, they don't tell you. And it's not easy to find. In case you need that access. Other staff around the hotel were friendly and greeted me about my day.4. Parking was great and plentiful. Again, weekday review.Best!Walkability: Can walk to food, drinks, safway, and wholefoods to name a few. Also along the like for a nice lake walk through town.Food & drinks: It's near everything. Which was good!

The location was amazing. The vibe on the beach was relaxing and fun. We loved the Tiki Bar and the wedding we attended on site was stunning. We saw a bear wandering around the parking lot, so be careful! The rooms leave a lot to be desired. Very weathered (which is understandable at a mountain resort), but the price didn’t reflect the value of the rooms. You’re definitely paying for location. We would stay here again if we were able to get a lower price.

This resort is being renovated and wish I would have known before I booked. The location is good, but the resort itself is not at all what I expected. The room was small, no place to set anything. Not even a luggage rack. The towels were thin and scratchy. I also would think you wouldn’t have to rent chairs to sit on the resorts beach. For almost $400 per night, I thought it would be a nicer resort. As far as service, all of the staff was wonderful! It is a good thing that Lake Tahoe is so pretty!Rooms: Too small for two people. Had to ask for more coffee and towels.

I stayed the night with a friend from out of state. She had never been to Lake Tahoe so we splurged on a room with a beach view. When we pulled in the first thing we realized was it's an older property (maybe was an apartment building prior to a hotel?) and was lacking updates and functionality. When we walked into our room (3rd floor - no elevators at this property), we were surprised how small the room was based on the way the photos were presented online. The room looked clean but we did find several dead bugs around windows and a couple on the walls, my friend also said that there were small black hairs in the bed, and food stains on the carpet. There was a fireplace in the room that was lit and wouldn't turn off, and the AC unit turned on (it's loud) but couldn't keep the room cool. The screen door to our patio was also completely broken off and leaning against the balcony door. Speaking of balcony, it was slanted downward when we stepped out. We were not sure if it was built that way for snow or needed repairs, needless to say we didn't go back out. With all of this said we addressed our concerns at checkout with Kristen and Jeanette at the front desk who were more than pleasant and completely addressed all concerns, apologized and made things right. Great customer service does go a long way and we really felt heard and valued.

I have frequented this resort when it was under the Best Western, Timber Cove Lodge on many occasions. The property is very nicely located and used to be well kept. Ten days ago, we visited the property under its new name "Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe". The price has significantly increased, and it is absolutely not worth the accommodations and the condition the property was at. Some staff members are extremely nice whole others won't spare you the time to help and are willing to totally ignore you when you talk to them. The room was fine but had bugs in the bathroom, a spider web and live spiders. Cleanliness of the room was questionable even when they came to clean the room on a daily basis. There are no warning signs of renovation work taking place and you are left to deal with wet paint that is not marked as such. Renovation team placed their trash next to our room door, and it did not get picked up throughout the duration of our stay. The renovation team were banging on our walls while we were in the room, very unprofessional handling of the renovation work at the site, and worst of all is that their General Manager and front desk managers did not seem to care when informed about all the mishaps and unacceptable conditions. In brief, the place is not worth over $300 a night for below standard accommodations, we would have been better served at Motel 6 down the street. Very disappointing and unprofessional. We are never returning to a place that do not value their customers.Rooms: Rooms are comfortable but not kept as clean as normal hotels.Safety: While renovating, wet paint left without any warning signs, walking area not cleaned.Noteworthy details: Nice location but not worth the prestige it once had under Best Western, not very clean, some staff unhelpful like their General Manager and front desk Manager among others. Disappointing accommodations as compared to previous ownership and definitely not worth the room charge.

8/27/23 This is a complete review with updates to come. Looking forward to the room, the staff, the sites and the beautiful lake. The pictures will be stunning! With research on many platforms, it sounds like this place is updating and has a prime location to enjoy a relaxing stay.Always a good vibe to start on a positive note. ✅?The review after stay during September.Food inside was tasty. The upgraded room was very dated, but understand fully that renovations are being done in other areas, so it will be on the list soon.Location and private beach to the resort! ?. The greatest advantage and much appreciated during our stay! Beach was clean too!The pool and hot tub areas looked great! The value of the place in comparison to the area is ok.Our room was around $150 a nightResort fee was $35 a day.

Property is in middle of renovation. The room itself has nicely been done. The outside of the building needs serious work. Elevator broke down. The outside walkway upstairs is rickety. The floor boards slant as if they are dry rotted. If you look down at the stairways... the cement is crumbling away and wonder how it holds up to weight. The manager, Anna, is absolutely rude. My reservation was not correct in their system to what my email copy showed. She didn't care and instructed me to go back to booking. com to resolve. I asked for 2 queens and got 1 king. She went as far to tell me I was out of luck as they had no rooms available. The display sign flashed vacancies available. They wouldn't even give me another king room. 3 hours later. Problem fixed and they found a room for 2 queen beds. I had to do all the calling and wasted 3 hours of my time instead of enjoying the evening. Will not go back.

We can't wait to return to South Lake Tahoe! This was an amazing trip. Our kids loved the pool! The location was very convenient to water access and other areas & restaurants. A few minor maintenance issues, but they seem to be working hard on the entire property. Seeing weddings was breathtaking, especially under the amazing sunsets! I've told my husband I would love to renew our vows here next year!

Giving this place 2 stars overall because the beach and the location were really nice. That is where the positives end. The nightly price does not include an ADDITIONAL $35 a night resort fee. For 3 nights out of the 4 nights we stayed they informed my group and I (via text) that they were not cleaning rooms because they were understaffed. Also they charge you extra for loungers so I have to ask what is the $35 extra per night for?! Their lobby bathroom was a disaster with no toilet paper. Oh, and the shower in your room fluctuates from scorching your skin off to ice cold in a matter of 2 minutes on the same setting. Finally, our air conditioner did not work. So this place was in an awesome location, but the beach was not private so again I am not really sure what that $35 per day gets you on top of the extreme price per night. We will not be back to this MOTEL…it is not a resort.
