Almost didn’t book after reading some reviews. Yes, first room smelled. Second room was not clean, but was made up straight away. The place is under new, very responsive, attentive and anxious management. Room (and bathroom!) surprisingly nice. Location quiet and close to shops, restaurants. If the place gets an overhaul (carpets, pool) it will be awesome. Also stayed at the Elevation, but incomparable the two.

I booked on a Tuesday during a busy weekend, stayed for two nights. The staff were plesent, and the rooms were clean. No A/C in the rooms but I just went there to sleep so it was cool by the time I returned. It's situated a short 5 Minute walk to resteraunts and shops if you're into that kind of thing. I just ride my bike around and find somewhere to read. Overall good stay.

Rooms haven’t been updated since the 80s, nearest beach access costs, and they no longer offer breakfast “due to Covid”. Can’t recommend.

Just stayed at this hotel, labor day weekend! It was very quiet...I think because we were one of three people staying there. This hotel need s a make over for sure and no AC just regular house fan.

After checking in, the front desk personnel hadn't given me my credit card back. After assuring him he didn't, he tried to gaslight me that he definitely gave it back to me. After repeating myself 3x, he finally looked for the card and of course, found it next to his keyboard. Kinda shady. Strike 1.Room was alright for the price booked. Not the cleanest, a bit dated, TV wasn't working too well and was outdated (small LCD from like, 2004). But the heat was not working in the original room. When asked to take a look, the worker tried to enter the room without a mask (during Omicron covid) and we had to promptly stop him to put one on. He was polite about putting one on, but I wish they'd do more to reassure their guests that they are doing everything to curb transmission of the virus, especially with their own workers. Strike 2.They kindly moved us to another room. Bathrooms were nice, and Avalon is nicely located in S. Lake Tahoe. Parking was easy. But I won't stay here again, unfortunately. Customer service was both good and bad. Hotel Beckett and Basecamp Tahoe have been much better stays.

This is a 3 star hotel and it gets all 3 of those stars and a bonus. This is a great spot if you plan to be out of your room the whole day. Great price for the zoo that is S lake, if you're in a pinch, book after 7pm for an even better

It was bearable, but below average. The room is small, with no desk or air conditioning. There’s a ceiling fan, but it’s weird and hard to use. The “lodge” is only two floors, and breakfast is very limited. They only had toast and pancakes, and the breakfast area is very tiny. There were three tables with two chairs each. The bathroom is very small also, with no place to put bags or other belongings. The shower heater is very loud, and we could hear other people walking and turning on the shower above us. The floors are also very creaky. The ice box is also very old (they called it “vintage”, even though it was just old). You can only take “a couple scoops”. There’s no alarm clock, so you don’t know what time it is. The furniture looks old.I found a fly in my water from the sink when I was brushing my teeth.Book ahead at nice places to get good quality rooms!

Run down place, I do not recommend staying there at all. Pay an extra $100 or more to stay somewhere nice. The AC was not working, they had no pool, no jacuzzi, and hot water was not working at all. They also have a vintage ice machine and totally not sanitary! I'm surprised they have not been shut down yet...

The hotel closed and never called to tell us it was sold. We legit just got there to check in for the long weekend. It was sold a week ago and never contacted people to let them know they do not have a reservation any more. We drove 8 hours to Lake Tahoe and then had to scramble to find a room on a holiday weekend. We luckily did but had to pay an arm and a leg since it was so last minute.

Zero stars would sum up and the hotel should shut down..pathetic mangement and useless staff..Omg Run,Run,Run..cheaply advertised to attract customers but travelers beware..it doesn't look anything like posted in picture..if travelling with family not a safe lodge.Front desk staff drunk fellow Harry..super rude and does not know what the hell is happening and so call on salary, making money but useless.and has no management skill..People who wrote reviews for this property recently are fake, paid writers, I would believe. DONT Book This cheap Lodge believe me when you get there I was fooled so I am writing in Bold, save yourself disappointment and pay more and be satisfied. Somewhere else.I was in a dismay and got shock of my life upon checking. They book the room but don't have keys..they suggest they can let you in and close the door behind you and when you come again they can help you excess the room by opening it again.seriously..for real...who has the time to wait for such inconvenience. if you dont believe then book for yourself and experience and do write about your experiences so pple can become aware and not spend hard earned money and time on the phone cancelling rather then enjoying their vacation wisely. Please dont book this hotel or you will be doomed. Seriously which hotel does not provide a key upon checking and who has the time and money to replan and look for accommodations in shot period of time if they have kids. Lodge needs CDPH put a permanent seal on it for closed.!!!! I am furious because of such inconvenience and the management will respond swiftly about sympathetically apologizing..work on management not promoting..people will come if you provide the quality service.Money doe not grow on trees. What a waste of time and money.words are not enough to describe the ordeal I went through with my kids and older parents..

There was no hot water in the morning so we had to take a cool shower. I could see millions of sparks when sliding my hand along the bed sheet. The receptionist charged us a late fee of $45 because we arrived at 10.15 pm without even telling us. The tv had only one channel working. Basically everything in that place was wrong (only the fireplace worked ok)
