My 13 boxes plus a couple other items (bike and vacuum) were picked up on may 15th in CA. They weren’t delivered until June 10th. Luckily it was a small load so easy to know what was or wasn’t mine because a box and a duffle bag were unloaded with my stuff. I gave them back to the movers as they were not mine. I also told the movers I was missing box number 3. I labeled all boxes so it would be easy to know if one was missing. It is now aug 8th and I am still missing said box. I filed a claim in June. Filled out their additional paper work in July and again they are asking me to submit a package of papers. I don’t normally complain as I know things happen but this is unacceptable and there is no ownership on behalf of the company.

We needed a piano moved on a short notice and they were able to get us a quote and a date to move within the week. They were friendly, polite, prompt, took pride in their work, moved the piano with care. We would absolutely use them again and suggest them to others that need this service or any moving needs.

Worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Did the old bait and switch. Quoted me one price for all my stuff then told me it was going to be 50% more to move it all. Once the stuff I had them take showed up at my new residence, all my furniture was ruined. Every piece of my bedroom set was scratched, scuffed, damaged or just broken. They put tools in my book cases which ruined all three. Broke two of my TV's and an antique crystal lamp that was a family heirloom. Just an overall disaster.

I would give Golden Gate Moving 10 stars if I could. They moved my Bechstein grand piano out of my house, safely navigated a 90 degree turn on narrow stairs, and down 14 steps. Another piano moving company I contacted called Bechsteins "the widow maker". Three men from GGM handled the move like pros and made it all look easy which, of course, it was not.The initial contact to completion of the move took barely 4 days. My first call was answered by a helpful person who always got back to me when she said she would. The 3 movers were friendly, funny, professional, and exuded confidence. Everything was done in a matter of minutes. And the price? So reasonable, even less than what it cost to move the piano into my second floor living room over 10 years ago. And that move required the large LR window to be taken out and a forklift to get the piano into the house. The previous movers said the piano could not make that 90 degree turn in the stairs.Seriously, look no further if you need to move a piano or other precious belongings, or if you have a challenging move. Golden Gate Moving is up to the task.

The three men that helped us out were excellent in every way: they knew what they were doing, were kind, knowledgeable, careful with our stuff, and hard workers...

The movers came to move our Viking fridge so a repair man can work on it. A team of three people came, two big guys and a teenager. The company claimed that they know how to move such fridged and do this kind of jobs all day long. When they came, they used ropes to pull the fridge. First, they completely ruined our floors in front of the fridge. Then, the doors would not close. They left without saying anything about this. We called and asked them to come back. When they came back, they denied that this is related to the move. We insisted and they moved the fridge out again, only to see the doors close fine. Then they realized that they actually broke the legs of the fridge. In the process, they asked if we have felt, which you would expect a mover to have. Also, the young boy started pushing the fridge in by force by sitting on the floor and pushing it with his shoes. this is a $20K fridge and he dented the door....horrible. After they realized that they broke the fridge's legs, they left the fridge on two blocks for many weeks. We could not access our sink or dishwasher. We also found out that the floor behind the fridge was all carved and damaged. Polishing would not fix that depth of damage. At that point, the lead on the team because rude and impatient, and it felt extremely unpleasant and unsafe to have them in our house. We called the company and the coordinator, Cherie, told us that they will take care of it. The owner came and acknowledged that his team did not know what they are doing. that they should have used the screws to close the legs and then used the fridge's wheels to push it forward or back. and that the young guy was a trainee that knew even less. we thought that it was nice that there is acknowledgment, and taking responsibility and that they will fix it. Little did we know. For many weeks we had Cherie postpone and postpone until they sent a floor guy to evaluate. Then they said they cannot really fix it properly but he will come to try. It took over a month to schedule. Then, they scheduled a date and when we said we cannot stay home that morning, they canceled and then said: "our insurance will reach out to you". i.e. we are no longer going to fix the damage. Now, we hope to get a call from the insurance company, Golden Gate moving still has our check, and they won't give us the insurance info so we have no way of making sure that they in fact are accountable for the damages. Stay away from this company. The owner seems to know what he is doing but that's where it stops.

Very happy GG moving helped moved my upright piano from a 2nd floor house with a difficult ( 90 degree ) turn. The rates were very reasonable and the movers were polite and professional.

Golden Gate Moving helped move in a hefty 1887 7'4" Mason & Hamlin Semi Concert Grand at a very reasonable price of $525 + $41.45 (for insurance). When they arrived at my condo, we realized that there was a tight corner from the front door to the living room, which required some careful maneuvering. The movers moved the piano professionally and did not damage the piano. My only qualm is that they only sent a 2 man crew. For such a large, heavy piano (over 1000lb), I would have been more comfortable having 3 movers (and on the phone, the person told me there would be 3 movers). That being said, the 2 movers were very strong and were able to handle the large piano.

Nice people. Good service. However, I had to pay $75 as release fee just to get back my piano, even though I had paid for storage the whole month. This is never disclosed beforehand. Wasn't fair.

These guys helped me move my 30 yr old baby grand yamaha from Brisbane to San Mateo yesterday. I was very pleased with the service and pricing was competitive ($525 - I had called a couple other places to compare). They were total pros and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. I also thought communication was quite good - someone actually answered the phone compared to other piano moving companies I called and they emailed back pretty fast. Highly recommend if you are looking to move a piano!

I had my baby grand piano put in storage some time ago at Golden Gate Moving (GGM) in South San Francisco. They came out, did some disassembly including removing the legs and hauled the piano to their storage warehouse where the piano was stored for over a year. I made an appointment for July 9 to have the piano returned and set up. They did deliver it that day, although they were several hours late, not showing up until after 5 PM. They unpacked the piano, reassembled it and left. I had a piano tuner come in several days later to check over the piano's condition, Overall he said the piano was in good shape and didn't appear to have suffered any damage during the storage. The piano tuner did say that some bolts and washers were missing from the legs and he strongly suggested that they be found and replaced because the legs were seriously weakened without the bolts. The GGM movers didn't mention any missing bolts when they disassembled the piano for pickup and storage so I can only assume they were lost on the trip to, during storage, or the trip back from storage to me. The workers that delivered the piano made no mention of any missing bolts which seems really odd to me. As I sit here today the only reason that I can think of that they didn't mention the missing bolts was because they knew they left them behind at the warehouse or worse, lost them during the trip when they delivered one of the other pianos on the truck. When the piano tuner told me about the missing bolts I called GGM but it was after hours so I left a voicemail message to call me. After several days there was no call so I called again during business hours and again I was sent to voicemail where I left another message. Now, over the past three weeks I have called several times, and reached a real person only twice. The first time the lady said she would have to check with someone but that person was gone for the day and she would call me back the next day. That return call never came. I called a few times more but got the voicemail. I kept calling and about four days later the phone was actually answered by another lady. She said I needed to speak with the first lady, but she was out of the office so that second lady told me that she would leave a message to have the first lady call me the following day. Still no call back. I am still calling GGM, hoping a real person will answer the phone, find the missing bolts and have someone bring them out to put them in my piano. It is over a month since they delivered the piano, I have left several messages but I have yet to reach a real person who can tell me anything other than someone will get back to me. In my opinion, this is all terrible customer service and highly unprofessional.I certainly will think twice about recommending GGM to anyone.
