$1 street tacos. Decent. BUT... two tiny baby cockroaches made their way up on the counter while I was eating. I just flicked them off and finished my meal. I kept thinking what a tough guy Andrew Zimmern is! He eats all kinds of bugs...mostly deep-fried. Mmmm.... Note to restaurant: Step up your pest control.

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. After seeing how many good reviews this place had I decided to give it a try. Walking in I should have known just by the dirty mop water smell that it was a mistake. Instead I wanted to give the food a chance at least. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the good. We sat down, ordered our drinks, & gave the menu a look over. We decided what we wanted; then our drinks came. The deal breaker here was the used dirty cup my bf's coffee came in. It had dried coffee splatter & a RED LIPSTICK PRINT ON IT!! I was furious because it was not something the waitress should have or could have missed! By bf told the waitress about it before we headed out the door and all she said was "I'll get you another coffee." If the cup was that dirty and unnoticed I didn't even want to know what was in the food or on the plates!! We walked out and did not look back!

9-12-13 I ordered beef sopes for 6.99. came with 2 sopes, rice, beans, tortillas, and chips with salsa. it was pretty good and is close to my place of employment. I don't think I would go out of my way to eat here, but it was not bad for take out lunch.

Great food at a great price. The homemade flour tortillas were fantastic so we ordered another six to take for camping. Excellent value.

Gaby's is amazing! Came in with my picky 7-person family and had 4 separate checks, special requests, and an odd mixture of orders and we all left happy. From buttermilk pancakes to carne asada, Gaby's has it all and does it all right.

Upgraded to 5-Stars... because of Home-Made Flour Tortillas! When I biked to Gaby's Cafe today, I wanted to have something to eat with some Mixed Drinks... Maria told me that I could eat at Harry's Cocktail Lounge ( ) right next door with a walk-though doorway, but I could not bring any drinks from the bar to the restaurant. I walked over to Harry's to check it out... very, very much a dark Dive, with just a couple of guys having Lunch, and with a guy that just walked out very inebriated. I came back and said to Maria that I didn't want to get beat-up today... so I'll just have my Lunch at Gaby's... On the menu... Chips & Salsa (*** Complimentary) ( ) Store-bought Tortilla Chips with a very watery, but hot Salsa concoction. Salsa better than on my previous visit... not so clear... and quite a bit hotter. Camarones a la Diabla (**** 1/2 $9.99) ( ) ( ) Gaby's Cafe must have around half a dozen kinds of Shrimp Entrees... Shrimp Ranchero; Shrimp Diabla, Shrimp with Garlic & Butter, etc, etc, etc... I asked Maria which one she preferred... She asked if I liked Spicy. Sure. Then it's the Camarones a la Diabla... On a 10-inch wide plate... you'll get around eight to nine medium sized Shrimp in Gaby's dark Red Diabla Sauce with sides of Refried Beans, Mexican Rice, and a small Salad with Vinaigrette Dressing. The Diabla, like Nena's didn't seem that Hot per it's name... but when I had to clear my throat during the meal... Whoo Hoo! HEAT! Just don't Cough or Sneeze during the meal... pretty Hot. The Shrimp flavor was oozing out during the cooking into the Diabla Sauce... very flavorful! Flour Tortillas (**** 1/2 Comes with Entree) Flour Tortillas are now Home-Made. I asked when Gaby's changed to Home-Made Tortillas... just this Weekend! During the meal I ran out of Tortillas... went up to the counter to ask Maria for more... How many? Three. She looked at me like I was crazy... Frankly, I could have had ten more... Coffee (**** $1.50) Unlimited Re-fills. Maybe I'll get to the Tilapia Frita on my next visit...
