I have been coming here for years. No other yarn store in the area compares…and I have visited many. The owners are so helpful and the inventory is vast and the prices are competitive. I always discover something new every time I come in. It’s a wonderful and welcoming place. I love this store. Why bother shopping anywhere else

There are no prices on any of the yarn and they do not do returns. The store is a claustrophobic mess and run by a woman and her miserable husband… prices are outrageous!! Three balls of yarn will run you over $50. These people are condescending, unhelpful and rude, the husband at the register alone made me want to pull my hair out. Shop anywhere else, they do not deserve your business

Wonderful knitting shop. I drop in every time I am in L.A. Very welcoming. There is room to knit in the shop at a small table to get instruction, advice, or just to knit and chat!

Edith taught my friend and I to knit and was so patient and kind. There is a great variety of beautiful yarn and the lessons are free! Awesome experience!

Listen this place is one of the most amazing stores of any kind that I've been to in my life. Period. A small business with an amazing inventory and they know their stuff. Both Edith and Meryl were helpful and very fun and humorous. If you don't get it don't complain.

This place deserves more than just 5 stars. Great selection of yarns, needles and knowledge. The prices are excellent, especially for the type of shop in a prime location. Even on my budget I could afford to shop here, unlike many other shops. The owners are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, as are the clientele. No snobs here! This is exactly how I imagined a knitting shop to be. Unlike other knitting shops I have been to, I left happy with my purchases, with no buyers remorse. One note: I am not paid for my reviews, and do not accept freebies for my reviews as well. This is my own opinion. The following is my detailed encounter of my experience:I am a beginning knitter. So far I have knitted several scarves and about 50 dish and shower scrubbies.A few months ago, I went to one knitting shop in the valley. Even though the people were nice, their yarn was VERY beautiful but also very expensive. I didn’t feel like I fit in with their Clientele or the workers. I also felt like I was bothering them to ask some basic questions about knitting. This past Saturday, I came across some information that told me I had the incorrect needles for a project I wanted to embark on: a hat.I first called La Knitterie Parisienne to find out if they had the needles I needed. Of course they did! As soon as I walked into the shop, I realized they had everything I needed right there.I decided to splurge a little too, since I needed some double pointed needles for the socks I would like to make.the big box stores didn’t have knowledgeable staff to assist me, so I just figured I would get what I needed someday down the road:Merrill, Edith’s lovely husband assisted me with not only finding the perfect needles for my hat, but also helped me select a set of double pointed needles that are probably the best invention since sliced bread!Even though he doesn’t knit, he knows a lot about knitting and how to select the right needles for the job.Fast forward a couple of days later. ..I realized that I am unable to make a hat without assistance.Another phone call to make an appointment to see Edith, who said she was happy to help.Upon my arrival, there was one fellow sitting at the table with Edith. Both made me feel welcome by offering a chair, some chatting, and then Edith telling me how many stitches I needed for my hat- from memory!!About 30 minutes into my visit, the table was populated by men and women of all ages, various nationalities, and I must add as extra bonus points: sexual orientations. It was a true melting pot.I am a bit shy, and I often don’t fit in with many groups, but I was at ease and comfortable the entire time I was there surrounded by great conversation, interesting knitting projects that others were working on, and being assisted by a very knowledgeable woman. This was the most fun I have had in a long time.I am looking forward to going back and seeing my new “friends” and learning more from Edith and the others around that table. There is always a place at the table for anyone who shows up.Exactly how a knitting shop should be.Thank you to everyone, and most of all to Edith and Merrill for making my visits enjoyable and for guiding me into making smart purchases.I will definitely be back!Merci Beaucoup!

Ok, I've read some of the negative reviews on here about LKP and I have a few things to say about this store...First, I've been shopping at LKP for well over 10 years and I would go there with my mom when I was a teenager, so she could buy yarn for her projects. This business has been around for a long time because it supplies knitters/crocheters with an extremely large selection of incredible yarn, patterns (I've even purchased vintage pattern books there), and anything else you might need to make something beautiful. The added bonus is that Edith is there. She might not make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but I don't need my hand held when I speak to her - I need help/instructions for my project or yarn advice. This place is her business, they have a constant flow of customers, and (as I already mentioned) a massive selection of yarn. Also, Edith is known in the LA area as THE woman to go see if you're having an issue with your knitting or need any kind of help. She knows her sh*t - and it's not from chatting it up with every customer, it's from working hard. I respect her talent and think she's badass at what she does. Meryl handles the register and most of the "business" side of things. He will let you know a price if you ask him. There are thousands of skeins of yarn in this store, and 2 people working there, so I'm not the least bit surprised there are no prices on anything. It doesn't bother me at all. Basically, this small business kills it if you're in need of accurate knowledge on knitting or a selection of yarn from all over the world (I should also mention they have a great needle selection too).

As an avid knitter, I have shopped at many stores and I can say without a doubt this is the best yarn store in the Los Angeles area. Edith knows everything about yarn, patterns and I have seen her fix complicated knitting issues on everything from blankets to sweaters. She is truly a master. Since she doesn't charge for sitting at her knitting table, she can only help you with projects made from yarn purchased at her store, which is common practice. The store is chock full of yarn and knitting accessories- they really do have everything you could ever possibly want or need. Whether you are an expert knitter or just learning, I can't recommend La Knitterie Parisienne enough!

I was visiting LA and was very excited to come to this store. The owner and her husband both greeted me and I was so thrilled to see they had a knitting circle going. I picked out a pattern and the owner helped me get all of the materials I needed. They only have 5 of a type of yarn in stock at a time, but have a warehouse, and mailed me the rest I needed (because I'm out of town); it came pretty fast. This store has a wonderful selection of yarn, and I can't wait to come back the next time I visit. I wish I lived here, so I could knit in their lovely knitting circle. I needed beads for my project and she recommended a bead store down the road that had what I needed. The owner said she was available for FaceTime or email if I needed any assistance with my project. Thank you guys!!There are no prices listed on their yarns. This doesn't phase me one iota, knitting is an expensive hobby, and I am very familiar with pricing. This store is price competitive. Any questions I had were answered for me.

rudest most condescending people I have ever encountered in retail. over priced "goods", staff paid to ignore you. disorganized shop looks like it hasn't been picked up from the last quake. fire marshall ought to check it out. might be "trendy" or "the place to catch a star" but my trade will go elsewhere.ETA:eight years later figured maybe things changed......nope worse than before. are they really trying for the "rudest shop in town" award?stay away from here. shop online.
