PHONE THEFT ALERT There is a phone theft in the gym!!!!!! Our phones got stolen at the gym when we were playing basketball. The gym was no help getting us the monitoring record to help the police. We are so disappointed with the experience. Not only our phone got stolen, seems like a very common issue. The theft is practised‼

This review is for my encounter with a "trainer" named Rohit**** If you are thinking about hiring a personal trainer particularly at this location in Sunnyvale, AVOID a short looking slim man named--- Rohit. Not only that is he rude and egocentric- he is incompetent as a trainer.

I hold my 1 star reviews for the businesses that have done me dirty. And this one did me dirty. I signed on for a 3 month personal training contract. They continued to charge me so I asked why. They gaslit me into thinking I was forgetful and I actually signed a 12 month one. The manager who signed my contract actually left so I couldn't even reach out to him. When I went back to my personal trainer to confirm, he did in fact confirm that they were being jerks and were trying to gaslight me into paying for something I didn't sign up for. I cut all ties and deleted my credit card all because management was struggling. They had recently laid off half their team so you could tell they were losing business. But don't gas light your customers into paying more. Banks will always side w the customers on these kinds of situations. Because of this, I got rid of my gym membership as well.

Over crowded and rude reps and manager. Facility is ok except for management. Be aware with the yearly fee tactic.

I don't know what's wrong with some of the employees who work there, but they sound rude/unprofessional on the phone. They either need to be trained on customer service skills or not be hired. No wonder their reviews are bad. It's unfair for people who work hard there.

Ive had a few multiple gym memberships over the last decade or so this is the first one I've canceled due to the manager being let's just say soft, trying not to use any inappropriate language. despite the 2.5 rating I thought I'd give it a chance, next time I'll trust the reviews. some of us look at the gym as a second home but this place I wouldn't recommend, most of the other staff was friendly, guy at the front desk was nice, the guy cleaning keeps the gym pretty clean. 1165 E Arques Ave Sunnyvale, CA was the one the one that made me cancel my membership, the city sport in Berkeley I'd recommend I have been there multiple times and no issues, better environment.

My husband (a US citizen) is a member of City Sports Club. I (a documented non-citizen) was looking for a gym, and my husband suggested to try his gym, as he would be able to give me a 7-day free trial through his membership. We finally went on August 23rd 2023, a little before 9PM. I asked the front desk about activating my free trial, and they told me to proceed to another person behind the desk on the other side of the entrance. I went there and asked about free trial activation. They asked me for the email of the free trial, and proceeded to ask for my driver's license. I don't drive, so I told them, "would a passport be okay?". They sighed and said, "sure.". I showed them a picture of my passport, to which they said, "are you not a US citizen?". I was puzzled by this question, but I still answered, "I'm not, I'm a foreigner.". They tsk-ed me and said, "I can't just keep doing this, you know? Otherwise random people from India or like Mumbai could come to the facility without a membership. But I'll let you go this time.". I did not say anything afterwards because I was so taken aback by that racist remark. I understand that each company might have their own policies, but there must be another way of enforcing these policies without being racist. For instance, they could have asked for other forms of US ID, and I would have been more than willing to provide that. I'm giving 2 stars only because it is actually a decent gym with good equipments and facilities. Great location too.

A club with potential under bad management. the Berkeley city sports club, of which i am a member, has all the potential to be great, but unfortunately is lacking good management. As a result machines are broken and stay so for weeks, (hip abductor weight machine), multiple ripped seats and pads, and often less the clean environment both in the changing area as well as in the showers. The fact that female staff is working frequently during operation hours in the male changing room, and the indifference of most of the staff to concerns of costumers and the attempt to intimidate the costumer does add to the low rating. It is sad if you feel discriminated against because you are disabled and elderly.

I am writing to share a recent experience at City Sports Club, specifically at the 1165 E Arques Ave, Sunnyvale location. Unfortunately, this experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. For over a year, I have received training assistance from my personal trainer via video call. This method has proven effective for me in various gyms, even within the same group, without any issues. However, my recent encounter with one of the general managers, Mark, has left me questioning the policies and customer service at this particular gym. Upon trying to continue my routine with my trusted personal trainer via video call, Mark came in the middle of my training and suddenly informed me that I was not allowed to do so. Confused by this sudden change in policy, I approached Mark to discuss the situation further. I was met with an uncooperative attitude as he bluntly stated, "I'm not arguing with you; I'm saying it's the rule, and you are not allowed." When I expressed my concerns to Mark, stating that if I couldn't continue training with my personal trainer, I would have to consider leaving the gym, his response was equally disappointing. He simply told me to go to reception to close my account. This interaction was both disheartening and unexpected. I have been a loyal member of City Sports Club for more than half a year and in 2019 in other locations and have never encountered any issues with my chosen training method. After this situation, I went to the reception to close my account and cancel my membership. When the front desk guy also called, Mark asked me the reason. I explained the situation and also mentioned another previous case I passed there, with the rudest personal trainer ever (Nickola,) that called me old when I was promptly answering the anamnesis questions about the pains problem. He said (of course, you are not in your 20s anymore, you are just getting older,) which it's true. Still, I wasn't there to debate my age and my pains I was only trying to get a free personal training class at the gym offers. So considering that, the second Mark, came to me and tried to explain that (Nickolas is no longer at their team and I should consider trying another personal trainer. Which is not my goal. I felt there was a subtle pressure to only hire professionals who work internally. This left me with the impression that the gym was more interested in profit than in meeting the individual needs of its members. As a member who has invested time, effort, and money into City Sports Club, I expected better treatment and communication. I am left feeling undervalued and disrespected as a loyal customer. I hope this review sheds light on the need for better communication and customer service at City Sports Club. Members deserve to be informed and treated respectfully, especially when faced with unexpected changes that directly impact their fitness routines and experiences at the gym. Ps: As a member of a new gym, I can clearly show the option to be open mind and very included with your members having each machine your own cellphone holder, where we can easily use our phones without any problems. Follow the pic attached. Ps 2: Another Note: If you are detail-oriented and likes to workout on a clean mat, I do not recommend this gym because you will always take time to wipe it down before lying down or stretching because you will have several types of hair on the mat. And last but not least: The primary stretching device (wall bars) is not found it there, so be prepared not to stretch correctly due to a lack of options.

Dirty, worn carpets and very overcrowded. Get pretty gross. The place needs an overhaul. Will likely cancel membership.

Bad management and scammer sales reps. Mark the "operations" manager has backward policies, I've seen him once in my time coming here and I come workout in crocs all the time. People are literally walking in and out and there's no dress code, prevents me from working out because of crocs. No liability or policy stating otherwise. A

Operations Manager Mark chose to single out my friend and I wearing crocs as we walked into the gym. Said we had to leave and wear shoes but we pointed out many people in the gym with slides or various forms of slippers that he had allowed before us. Never had an issue wearing Crocs to various City Sports gyms in the past ranging from the bay to Sacramento before the manager decided to single out a couple of guys and ignore everyone else working out. There are times when I've had to go with just socks for squats for better stability but on these two specific guys crocs were apparently too much for Mark to handle this day.

City Sports Club in Sunnyvale offers an excellent fitness experience. The swimming pool is refreshing, though it can get crowded on weekends. The facility provides plenty of equipment for various workouts, including a basketball court. There's also a racket court available, but it cannot be booked by Direct and Active membership. The atmosphere is motivating. Overall, I highly recommend City Sports Club for its facilities and amenities.
