Tamara R. Sorry to hear he is still doing this. Been hearing a lot of this from folks.. BEWARE Cant not recommend this guy.. He did the same to meny. I was Hoping by now he had Apologies and we could move on... All he can do when he sees you is flip you off And as you said Tamara.. He was so Nice and seemed sincere when getting the job/// Great Promises ect... Then seemed like extended repeated Lies and excuses month after month.... This is the same guys reviews on the last place he closed down.. Even took cash as payment said printer is out will send receipt.. weeks of asking, Doug said was sent . then blamed the office gal.. Sid sent again... Never was sent.. Last time said China eat there computers.. WOW... In the end tried to say we didnt pay.. Thanks to the office manager telling the truth to the authorities the truth came through.. ---Lost parts, Doug would Tell us to buy again and will take off bill Never happened. Reviews of the same person. -----+=(Gold Country Auto Restoration Jackson, CA Yelp )------+ ------- This is what happened to lots of us... I helped these folks find the parts to there cars.... This was the story In a Nutshell, Cars for Pebble Beach's Concours d'Elegance ... Which was being restored by Doug and his team when he Managed GCAR into the ground it seems as told by the absentee owner .. I won't go through the sordid details now, but you've been through it and you can only imagine. Needless to say it's been a disaster since the beginning (endless lies / overpaying for job undone / etc...) and to make a story short, the car never made it on time to Pebble... well, actually that's not exactly true: they brought it the day of the concours d'elegance Sunday morning... without the seats... without the back window... with most part left back in their shop... with wires hanging out from dash board... with fabric hanging out from everywhere... which gaps around doors & hood... I saw it with my own eyes, I was there, at Pebble Beach with my friends for this event... I was supposed to ride in that car in thursday's Rally... You couldn't write some of these stories for a film because everybody would shrug and think it's not "believable"... like on sunday when they had their guys trailer it up a hill, and they suddenly stop and jump out the truck and run in the back to open the trailer... WHY? Because they heard a thump against the front trailer... YES... The car was not attached, and loose in the trailer!!! Please, PLEASE,: He has done the same to us... ---------- in case u need to read more. They lost & damaged and destroyed with out regard any &seems all parts on our car. They put in cheap hardware store straight edge screws in our car and Kept all the good bits. The negative impact On historic cars may be especially pernicious.. I will end again repeating.. I wish he could of apologized at lest then we could move on... Stuff happens.. Sad to hear he is who he is ... Hoped he would of learned...

Wow I cannot believe that my 1983 El Camino is at the same shop that Tamara has written about! I asked Doug to take a look at my project because I was not real happy with the guy that had started it. What started out as a wiring job has ended up with a complete rebuild and I couldn't be happier. The quality of work completed by Lucky Seven is top notch. Doug has explained to me that he would remove my windows but would have a automotive glass company install the windows when that time came. Same with the paint. Doug was up front that he would send my car off to be painted. I have always received an in depth invoice with photos of the work along the way. The staff at Lucky Seven has always welcomed me and spent the time to answer my questions. As for Doug's daughter Sam, she is a sweetheart. She is the one who tracks the billable hours on my project and always returns my many phone calls. To say something stupid like we didn't want any holes in the firewall is just plain stupid. If they drilled a hole in the firewall you can bet on it that something needed to go through the firewall at that position. I think Tamara had a little sticker shock. If you want top of the line work on your hot rod than be prepared to pay for it. I visit the shop at least once a week without calling first. Doug, Sam and the crew has always been glad to see me. My advice is to drive on out to the Lucky Seven shop and see all the fantastic projects they are working on. Only than will you see how lame the post Tamara made really is. One more thing. Tamara did you really expect Lucky Seven to go through boxes of parts you brought in. Isn't it your responsibility to bag, tag and inventory all those parts before you dropped off your project? Come on Tamara take ownership for your own mistakes instead of blaming others. I, for one, could not be happier for the work they have done on my project and look forward to the completion on time and within my budget.

Worst place ever! We regret ever bringing our car down there! So much lack of communication on their part and they didn't like us popping in checking on progress. They told us one thing then did it a different way more than one occasion without consulting us. We told Doug the owner that we didn't want any holes in the firewall, we wanted to keep it clean. He told us not to worry because that's how he does all his firewalls. The first thing he did was drill two huge holes on either side of the firewall for fittings. The day we dropped off the car we gave him the old window glass and he told us his girlfriend owns a glass shop in Sonora and he would take the glass to her that weekend to get started on it so it would be ready to go when the frame came back from the paint/powder coat shop and the body would go back on. That didn't happen. We didn't get the glass until 3 months later and 3 days after we brought the car home on a tow truck. He also told us before they did anything they would go through all the boxes of parts we brought and bought for the car and make a list of everything so they knew what they had before they bought anything. This never happened because they bought stuff we already had and they asked if we had things (that were in the boxes of parts they were suppose to go through)! He also told us they would bag and label the parts they took off so they would know how it went back together. This too didn't happen or they would have known how to align the front fenders/grill/hood pieces that they didn't do right. The gas pedal is too far to the right and hits the tranny tunnel before full throttle so we have to do something about that. They don't have a lift/hoist so everything takes twice as long to do. They don't have a paint booth even though they sprayed under seal on the car outside, painted the inner fender panels, hinges and many other small pieces, the windshield frame and a section of the firewall inside the shop. We have so much to take apart and do over including the entire front end and hood that they charged us 3 days of labor for and it's still not lined up properly, the owner made excuses for everything, he and his daughter lied so many times and when we questioned him about the amount of time he had on the front end he came unhinged and had a temper tantrum like an 8 year old little girl, screaming and yelling running all over the place, packed all our stuff up and told us to take it and the car, that he didn't need us or our business and then he proceeded to insult me. So rude, immature and unnecessary. This after we'd given him 10's of thousands of dollars. This is an owner of a so called business. He won't stay in business much longer treating good paying customers this way. No surprise 2 employees quit in a matter of 3 months our car was there. They cut a section of the floor to get the steering column out because they didn't know how to do that right and never repaired it. The wiring to the parking light switch isn't wired right, one pull the dash lights go on, second pull they go out. The air/heater vent duct hose is not installed. The a/c was never charged. The air cleaner isn't on because he told us the hose from the engine to the radiator is in the way. The starter is loud, so it probably needs to be shimmed, properly. The glass was a disaster. Back window glass has to come out as the rubber in the corners is sticking up. So much we payed for that wasn't done. If you have a street rod take it anywhere else! They don't know what they're doing. Clearly the owner and his daughter who works in the office watch a lot of car restoration tv shows because they know what to say, they just don't know how to do it. The only thing they did do well was rip us off! Beware this is not a quality producing shop!
